My friends & I met here in Jan for a delayed Christmas Lunch. We pre-ordered the High Tea & were not disappointed. Everything was delicious, from the sandwiches to the scones & cream to the lovely desserts. My one friend only drinks coffee & our server was so kind as to put her coffee in a teapot. It is a great spot for us to meet up & we enjoyed it so much that we are coming back in Feb for a birthday celebration.

We made a reservation (glad we did because we otherwise may not have got in, it’s quite a busy place) … Upon arriving at this quaintly decorated Tea Room we were warmly greeted by a cheerful young lady. The menu features an amazing variety of choices, we ordered curried Sweet Potato with Apple soup (it was delicious and could be considered addictive) along with Shepherds Pie which was very tasty and beautifully presented. The homemade bread and butter was very fresh and so good. There are many exotic teas and other more spirited drinks to choose from. The selection of desserts will satisfy any sweet tooth, spectacular! I was tempted to put a hat on my husband and pose him for pictures but he might have fussed and it was our first visit, besides I wasn’t sure which hat would suit him best the big fluffy red one or tiny more conservative purple one, I later noticed a black top hat which could have worked? *smile* … maybe next time… and there certainly will be a next time!

Went to Maddie Hatter yesterday for lunch with a friend. The place is so cute and decorated with beautiful teapots and hats. I had the lunch special - a turkey, swiss cheese sandwich, and soup for the day. The soup was curried carrot, sweet potato and apple it was amazing. I am going to try and make this myself. The sandwich was very fresh with lots of turkey and swiss cheese. The tea came in a large pot for one person and was hot and remained hot for the whole meal. The scones are so light and fluffy, I highly recommend getting the Devon cream. The staff were friendly and the service was great. It was a great day out.

Thanks for the great review. Our own Devon style cream is very popular with our customers, especially when paired with our raspberry jam on a warm scone. Glad you enjoyed your stay at Maddie’s. Hope to see you again!

I made a reservation for Dec 23rd via email on Nov 25 and then had to change the date to Dec 22nd which was confirmed via email on Dec 9th. When we arrived today we were asked if we had a reservation and when we confirmed that we did were asked to show proof on my email. I was then told that they would need to consult with the manager. This took at least 5 minutes. When they returned we were asked if we wanted high tea or lunch and I replied that we’d like to see the menu and was told that high tea needed to be ordered ahead so I’m not sure why we were asked to begin with. Once seated 2 of the menu items we wanted were not available which considering it was noon seemed unusual. We ended up just ordering tea and scones, which were delicious. Overall, we were treated like an inconvenience and a bother to the staff from the moment we arrived to when we asked for enough cutlery for our party. This was meant to be a special Christmas outing as it was my two daughters’ first trip to a tea room and we brought their grandmother who lives out of town. We will not be returning.

My First of many afternoon teas with my friend. We both ordered Orange Pekoe and it was loose leaf and the leaves kept clogging the spout and the tea would spill out all over table. Real clotted cream and Jam was the best part we would have liked our own to not share. The scones were nice and big but very dry and crumbly. I loved all the teapots and decorative parts of the restaurant however we were seated just inside the door no view of the main part as there was a half wall dividing the 2 areas. Nobody came to see if we wanted anything. We needed napkins as tea was spilling every time we filled our cups. I would have like the loose leaf in a holder to remove as it got strong quickly. Overall nice time would not take much to be a 5 star.

My husband and l chanced upon this gem of a restaurant in downtown Erin last Sunday. We already had lunch but just had to walk into this lovely room to absorb its pleasing ambiance. We were glad we made the right decision. Bella, our server was very knowledgeable of the teas and food offered and was such a delight to speak with. The scones we had were delicious with the butter, blackberry jam, clotted cream and lemon curd; and the Yerba Mate Mango tea and Lady Grey Lavender tea were so tasty to the palette and oh so refreshing. We decided that we would definitely return to Erin if only to eat at the Maddie Hatter again and to try its other wares.

We showed up at the tea house at 3:35 and were told that they close at 4. We said we only wanted scones and coffee and would not stay long - we had driven from Toronto and were delayed in traffic. We were refused service and told we could take them to go. When I suggested that they inform people on their media that they actually only serve until 3:30 (not 4) I was rewarded with a grunt. We had been coming here for years but will never come again.

A charming little tea house with a large list of specialty teas and delicious desserts. We enjoyed the scones and sampled shortbread and were not disappointed. The scones were served warm with butter and jam and not a crumb was left on either plate! Our tea came piping hot and remained hot throughout the time we were there The room is decorated with many interesting small treasures and was a lovely backdrop for a casual afternoon girls' chat over a cup of tea and a treat. Our waiter Daniel was attentive and funny despite a room full of patrons, adding to our pleasant afternoon. We will be back for an opportunity to try lunch fare before the summer is over!

I enjoy afternoon tea and have been to several throughout Ontario. I can honestly say that this is one of my favorites! The town of Erin is quaint and welcoming. Maddie Hatter is in the main strip and offered many options for parking. The tea shoppe itself was bigger than I expected and easily allowed for social distancing. Our table was set up when we arrived (we made a reservation) and the tea options were plenty. All three of us ordered a different flavor and they were all yummy. The food was AMAZING!!! From the finger sandwiches to the scones to the desserts...each piece was scrumptious and flavorful. And all the flavors blended so well together. The best part of our experience was our server, Shenice. She was so friendly and easy to talk to. She explained each piece of our food and had our mouths all watering before we devoured all if it. She mentioned that the food was new options, so hopefully they stay on the menu🙂

Came in to grab a tea with a friend and we We were met at the door by a girl telling us we couldn't stay that seatings are 1 1/2 hours and the store was closing in 1 hour and 15 minutes. The place was empty, we just wanted a tea so we asked if we could get one to go. As the girl hands me my tea she says to becareful the lids pop off, well mine popped off and the cup buckled and I had boiling hit water all over my hand. I wasn't even asked if I was ok, no apology nothing. she refilled the cup with more hot water and sent us on our way. The tea was so hot that even the sleeve on the cup did nothing. I get to my car and carefully try to place the cup in my holder and the lid pops off again, burning me for a second time and soaks my heated driver seat which I've been afraid to turn on now. For the love of God, you charge $5.50 for a teabag with hot water, can you get some higher quality cups for take out, or double the cups up if you know they are flimsy. The lids won't stay on, you know this is an issue yet you are still using them?

My husband and I had lunch and high tea at Maddie’s. My husband loved his quiche however, my high tea didn’t meet my expectations. For a high tea of $25, I found it lacking on taste and appeal. I have had high tea in many similar places however this was a disappointment. The ambiance and service was very good.

A hidden gem located in the quaint village of Erin. We took our mums out for a high tea that we pre booked and really loved it. We had a room to ourselves and had "Royal High Tea" which consisted of 3 tier cake stand with an assortment of savory and sweet fares. Complementing this was a choice of loose leaf tea from the drink menu. We decided to celebrate Christmas with mimosas!

We had a wonderful time at Maddie Hatter. We enjoyed the ambience while having High Tea. The selection was delicious. The Christmas tea (vanilla and almond) I drank was delicious that I also bought some for home. We had a lovely time chatting and eating and did not feel rushed to leave. The staff was very engaging. We definitely will come back.

We had the best tea room experience at Maddie Hatter's! We were greeted in the most cheerful manner. We had the most delicious high tea......the food was exactly what we expected and tasted even better. the scones were to die for. great ambience, an intimate atmosphere. We are going back for sure. Great value. I have been to tea rooms all over the place, many of the high end ones and I have to say that high tea in Erin at Maddie Hatter gives them all a run for their money!
