About
The Meare Shop & Tearoom, is situated in the unique village of Thorpeness, on the beautiful Suffolk coast. We serve hot & cold drinks, cakes (including our homemade scones and gluten free options), snacks like toasties and bigger meals such as Suffolk Ham, Chips & Beans and we have a Children's menu. Our Ice Cream selection includes Mr Whippy, Scoop and wrapped options. You'll also find a small range of gifts & cards and Duck Food. You'll find us right next to Thorpeness Meare. Our patio and some of our inside tables overlook the Meare and are perfect for watching the boats and wildlife. We open at 9.30 - until about 6pm (or when most people have gone home). We serve food all day. Hope to see

We come here around once a year. This little café/restaurant is central, and is adequate. I recently had vegetable soup, but it was somewhat insipid. But it was OK for a snack meal before our evening dinner at the hotel. And there is a useful...More

After parking the car we spent time in the emporium followed by afternoon tea. Hiring a boat on the Meare was an attraction but we walked to see the windmill and the House in the Clouds, a famous sight jutting up above the trees. Feeding...More

This tearoom is in a beautiful location in Thorpeness, but don't let that fool you. This is a terribly run cafe. I'm a bit of a coffee snob, and I tend to judge a place on its espresso - proper coffee needs cleanliness, order, and...More

Hello. Thank you for taking the time to leave your honest review - am sorry you left disappointed. We are definitely not a specialist coffee shop, but most of the tearoom team know how to make a good, decent coffee - but, as is obvious...More

The food here is good and you can either sit inside or outside by the meare. The ice-creams are particularly nice.

This is a lovely spot for a bit of lunch after a bit of boating on the meare. Really reminded of the seaside tea rooms we went to in the 70s. It was very busy which is always a good sign and the food was...More

Outside tables overlooking the Meare on a Sunday morning, drinking delicious cappucino and watching the dogs trying to growl at the swans, what's not to like? We thought for its position and view it was reasonably priced.
