May 2022 - Abruzzo. After a good dose of local beauty and culture, on the advice of the manager of the B&B where we are staying, we go to the this restaurant in Guardiagrele in the province of Chieti. We would soon find out that...the tip we got was as remarkable as the restaurant is. I choose a tasting that allows me to fully understand the flavors proposed by chef Franco Spadaccini and I am satisfied with delicious dishes that combine the flavors of the territory proposed in an intriguing form. We want to accompany the dishes with a wine from those lands and therefore we choose a Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC in the elegant and organic version "Sciatò Vigna di Caprafico" by Tommaso Masciantonio, also a producer of EVO oil. We had a wonderful experience and the desire to come back to Abruzzo! Small note on the name of the wine which plays on the pronunciation of the French word Chateau and which indicates the origin of the grapes from the eastern slope of the Maiella near the area where the castle of Caprafico once stood.More

We loved the hospitality of the staff and the great taste of food. The food shows their passion for it. The choice is broad and the staff takes the time to explain everything. When you also love your wine, here you will definitely find your...taste.More

Probably one of the best restaurants in the Chieti area. Modern take on local cuisine, dishes are simple but refined, honoring local seasonal produce and wines. All in all a wonderful little gem, with a grotto as bonus!

Visited for a birthday celebration after reading the reviews did not disappoint. We were warmly welcomed to a table situated in the cave section of the restaurant surrounded by bottles of red wine . It took us some time to decide on our order as...several took our fancy . Eventually with Bakula dish and fresh mushrooms over rocket with parmigiano. So fresh . Then we both had the stuffed prawn pasta with a lemon sauce gorgeous . Main course Sweatbreads and Entrecôte followed by a white Semifreddo totally Devine . There was so many wines on the wine list we just had the house Montepulciano very nice . It was a wonderful meal for both of us and reasonably priced . On leaving we spoke about the wine Cantina we could see and without hesitation we were escorted to an enchanting wine cellar in the cave . Staff super , meal wonderful we will return . If you are in the region go out of your way and take a visit book in advanceMore

Fabulous experience. Fabulous food, Fabulous service. All round 6 stars. The restaurant accommodated anything that you required. Especially for one in the group that wanted something not on the menu. Really something for a fine dining restaurant. Would definitely go again when in the area.

Franco and Anna are running an absolutely fantastic restaurant and B&B. We ran in to both of their places on our road trip through Abruzzo and we have the best memories of it. Price quality unbeatable! The food is excellent, the wines superb and Franco...and Anna are marvelous hosts. Yes, this was an outstanding experience!More

A hidden gem (literally) set within the mountain cave with a beautiful wine cellar this place is ambiance, great service and exceptional food!! I recently dined there for a christening function and being in Italy and in the country they accommodated my vegan and gluten...free options so well that non-vegetarians were having food envy!! All courses were cooked to perfection and honestly they catered for me for every course - when a restaurant and chef put that much effort and don’t just deliver but exceed taste, quality and presentation you know they know their stuff and respect the produce as much as their customers!! Foodies, get there regardless of your dietary requirements but please do let them know ahead of time! Best gnocchi and dessert- thank you :)More

I´ve been five times to Italy, and love eating out in great restaurants. This time, together with my wife and my parents-in-law, we went today to Dei Raselli, in a city close to Semivicoli. The pasta with lamb and porcini was a dream, also the...one with local tartuffo, as well as the meat cooked with local Montepulciano d´Abrruzzo wine, In between, attentful and smiling maitre Danilo came with graceful delicacies. Chef Franco Spadaccini is a magician, and later showed us the impressive cave they have inside the Grotta. We will probably return there tomorrow. I would encourage anyone to try this restaurant (ah, the landscapes on the way are stunning, and I forgot to mention the desserts, a quartet of little jewels).More

La Grotta is unique as part of it is inside a small cave. This cave and the ret of the restaurant is beautifully finished off and well decorated and lit. One must mention the toilets as being the best toilets I have every had the...good fortune to visit. We, a party of 6, dined the the cave section surrounded by dozens of bottles of wine. The menu was not extensive but covered the main Italian food groups. We did ask about specials and were offered one or two dishes of something off menu. I messed up and ordered steak, I should have been more local. The food everyone had must have been extremely good based on the comments around the table. Plus the wines both red and white we delicious. When our waiter nor the owner, both of whom had limited english, could not answer a question the english speaking chef was called to our table. In conclusion for those of us used to paying city prices for 5 star service you will be pleasantly surprised. If you are ever within 100 kilometres of this restaurant please go.More
