Very cosy place with good food. The warm antipasti was a pleasant surprise, the gnocci was good, and the grilled lam was delicious. The service was helpful and friendly.

We had a thoroughly lovely dinner here with friends. Only about a half a dozen tables. All full and attended to by one very efficient and friendly wait staff. Great food and drink. A real first class local establishment in a wonderful location.

When I choose restaurants, I do read reviews when available and also seek personal recommendations. Happily, this does mean that most of my reviews are positive. I am pleased to say that this is also a very positive review and I am happy to highly...recommend Hostaria Elisa. This is a charming small restaurant in the lovely village of Bocca Di Valle on the outskirts of Guardiagrele. It probably has a maximum capacity inside of twenty five or so diners with a few more tables outside. We visited with friends having pre-booked a few days earlier. It was a good job we had done so as all the inside tables were occupied within a short time of service beginning. We actually arrived early, which surprised the owners who didn't expect to open until 8pm, despite our booking being for 7.30. This was no problem as we were able to enjoy a good beer / wine outside before being shown to our table. We shared two servings of antipasti between the four of us. This really was a meal in itself, an absolutely delicious assortment of local produce. For the next course we each chose different homemade pasta dishes. The pasta made on the premises really did make a difference and we all enjoyed this course. For me the highlight was the lamb chops roasted over the wood embers. I cannot remember when I have eaten more delicious lamb for a long time. The was accompanied by locally produced wine which went down very well and finished off with deserts and coffee. A final pleasant surprise was the bill. A very reasonable amount for a fantastic evening that we had all thoroughly enjoyed. One of nicest meals for a long time. All credit to the pleasant couple who run it. Once again I strongly recommend Hostaria Elisa.More

I'm so pleased we decided to eat here today. It's a short drive from Villa Di Stelle, and it was a gorgeous day. The food was simple, very well cooked and delicious. We had (just to mention a couple of dishes ) mouthwatering artichoke and tomato...pasta, a very generous portion of lamb chops and crispy potatoes. The service was good, the prices are good and because it's a small restaurant it has a very nice ambience. We would definitely recommend this place to any of our guests and friends visiting the area.More

Everything about this small restaurant is wonderful - the excellent quality of the food, the simple local dishes served with aplomb, the service and setting. We eat here regularly (it is also excellent value) and would have no hesitation in pronouncing it outstanding of its...type. The home made pasta is yummy, whether ravioli with pear and gorgonzola or with black truffle, chitarrina with a simple tomato sugo, or even with wild boar. The grilled meat, locally sourced, is always delicious, served with a simple salad and roast potatoes, and the selection of puddings very tempting. I can't wait to go back!!More

I have visited this delightful restaurant in Bocca di Vale several times recently. The prosciutto (indeed all the salumi) are excellent and a joy to eat. Beautiful pasta, excellent grilled mountain lamb, and good wines. Honest food, honestly priced, lovely Abruzzese flavours. Carry on guys-...you will inherit the earth!More

Probably the best antipasti in the area and, as ever, reasonably priced. We are delighted to have discovered this small restaurant that serves excellent food. Everything was perfect ............. with the exception of the rather loud, heavy rock music that was being played through the...restaurant speakers whilst we ate. That said, we will definitely return to this restaurant, assured of a good meal.More

This is a small delightful eatery run by a young couple. They are "vocational" in their dedication to traditional Abruzzese food, serving superb antipasti of meats cured by the owner/chef/waiter and allt i allo proprietor, prosciutto, salamis, etc., with the ubiquitous Abruzzo "cinghiale" or wild...boar. I have eaten vast quantities of pasta in my life (mountains?), but I consider that the home made pasta produced by the lady of the house is the best that I have ever eaten. Within a few miles of this establishment, their are a number of serious (prestigious) restaurants, but none have the earthy "feel" for traditional Abruzzan food which this lovely couple have made their forte! Eat their food with reverence, it is served with care, love and attention. I asked the proprietor why he was not working in Rome (he would make a fortune there!); he looked at me as though I was slightly stupid, and replied that he loved the area because of his unfettered access to Abruzzan specialities. Good, simple Italian cookery at its best. This is the "cuccina povera" which has travelled the globe. If you want the more pretentious "cuccina baroniale", and have the funding, there are other restaurants in the vicinity. I have had many fine meals here, I am fond of the staff and totally prejudiced!!!More

Marco (owner and chef) prepares excellent fresh plates daily. Local and seasonal plates. From small pieces of wild boar in red wine sauce to one of the best unique anti-pasti in Abruzzo (and perhaps Italy??). Pork (salami, prociutto) is produced by the family. Other meats...are all local. Admittedly, I'm not a fan of horse meat, but there are many more seasonal options. But it's certainly not all meat.-there is far more! He once told us that the wild asparagus, wild spinach and wild porcini mushrooms are collected from around the area. The prices are very reasonable for quality of wine and food. The place is small and space is limited so please call ahead and make reservations. Marco keeps it intimate, and will either wait on you and prepare the food himself or one of the family members. He will come out and try to talk to you to find out your impressions of the food. He does not speak english, and I've never seen a menu (he may have one somewhere?) because he will come out and tell you what he's prepared for the day (usually 2-3 first plate options depending on the season). But don't let language stand in the way just let him treat you. Highly recommended. Excellent way to end the day after hiking or recreating in Majella National Park.More
