My wife and I, went to Flamengo after we'd been there a few years prior. We were very disappointed with our experience the second time round for a few reasons detailed below. Initially we asked for a mix of hot and cold antipasti , only...fish, for which we got given a full portion of all the hot and then all the cold antipasti, which we thought was strange, obviously we wanted a mix (Which we told the chef) and not all of the cold and then move onto all of the hot. The antipasti were well presented but none of the fish was fresh (didnt have that sweetness that fresh seafood has), there was also a hair in one of the dishes, which we sent back, and also after we explicitly told the chef at the beginning we don't want meat, one of the dishes came with bacon on top, this was very very disappointing. We then asked for a lobster pasta for us to share, when I asked if the lobster was fresh he told us yes "fresh from this morning", looking back obviously there is no "fresh form this morning", when it comes to lobster, it's either fresh out the tank or frozen. This one on the taste was obviously frozen defrosted and then when it arrived to us, overcooked. Not terrible but I could have cooked a frozen lobster pasta better. The lobster pasta took over 30 minutes to prepare. Overall we got charged in the Chieti area 145 EUR for this meal, which for this area is an expensive meal (We've eaten in many good restaurants in the area). There are much better restaurants such as "Vento Di Prua" in Guardiagrele where we ate the night before, which had excellent fresh seafood for almost half the price. Bottom line, Flamengo has good presentation , ok food, ok service and no fresh fish (At least what we got) also way overpriced.More

Excellent and varied Seafood Antipasto. Followed by perfectly cooked pasta with mussels, schrimps and octopus. Lovely desserts and service. One of our best luches during 10 years in Abruzzo !

My husband, I and our friend traveled through Italy's Abruzzo region and by chance discovered the Restaurant "Flamengo" near Altino and Casoli. Chef Nicola D'Alonso has a creative approach: he appears at the tables to talk to each guest to understand better their individual food...preferences as well as to make some suggestions. He allows customers to personalize the menu. And then he whips up delicious dishes using the best, organic ingredients to make sure that everyone has a delightful culinary experience. We dined there two days in the row and were very pleased with the food and the service.More

We came there by recommendation, did not use any menu , just explained our tastes and the chef gave us amazing experience, many starters , we just trusted him, added local unique fish , escorted by great local wine and great desert. I came back...by myself after 2 days, not to miss another great dinner there and had a great experience again, adding few pictures that hope will reflect the high standards of food, just trust the great hospitality and taste of the chef and the price is more than reasonable for such high standards of food. Just ask for few starters , explain your preferred taste and main course, relax and enjoy the great experience.More

Once we found this on a dark November night, we were more than happy. Nicola the chef and our lovely waitress made us feel very welcome. A conversation with Nicola rather than viewing a menu, helped us decide on seafood antipasti. Dish after dish of...creative and tasty seafood was brought to our table and we had a most delicious wine. Tried a seafood pasta also and enjoyed the range of breads - a change from the bland usual one in this region. So good - we came back the next evening ( also with off season others were closed)! Second night we chose meat antipasti and again had a wonderful selection of meats and cheese and vegetable dishes. Beautifully presented and excellent local ingredients. A lamb main was shared which was very tasty. Sadly there was only the bland bread on night 2, but that's the only downside. Reasonably priced for great dining and we were made so welcome. Thank you. We look forward to returning to Abruzzo and Ristorante Flamengo!More

We booked a table for Valentine’s Day, due to customer request the set meal & entertainment was to be a lunchtime event rather than an evening, (just shows that they do listen to their customers). We had a lovely meal, a good bottle of wine,...and watched Flamenco dancing. The chef kept bobbing into the restaurant, to take orders and chat to some of the customers; he helped us with our choices, as our Italian is still very poor. We had a few small dishes, but there was plenty to fill you up. All the seafood was cooked perfectly (& no bones in sight). All the staff were very nice, all dressed well, soon as your plate was empty, it was cleared away, and they advised the kitchen that you were ready for your next dish. We knew the price before we booked; we were pleasantly surprised that the bottle of wine we had chosen was included with the price. The décor is a mix of Italian, and a touch of Spanish thrown in – but all good, and cleanMore

My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful fish experience here. The chef & host was very attentive, is clearly passionate about fish and went to a lot of trouble to help us identify all the huge variety of fish he cooked for us. If you...want to step up a few grades from the normal standard of cooking in this area I would not hesitate to recommend this. More expensive (about twice the price) than the little locals but worth every penny. Give it a try!More

Entirely personal, but I have an instant distrust of anywhere that won't show you a menu - on the basis the chef only buys what's fresh that day - and instead offers to bring you the 'chef's selection' of what's especially good. Yes...the food's fine...- did I mention it's a fish speciality place ? - but by allowing them to serve you what they want, you also allow them to charge you what they want - and the bills can be stiff. No thanks.More

While on a business trip with the Canadian Italian Chamber of Commerce, I was asked by a fellow group member and family friend of mine and also a great ITALO CANADIAN CHEF, Andrea Delòrifice if I wanted to visit his cousin in Casoli. I gladly...said yes. When we arrived I saw a brand new porsche 911 carrera Turbo and thought to myself these brothers must be doing something extrordinary here in their kitchen and granda sala!!! I was correct!!! They had us tour the kitchen where they had very well skilled apprentices assisting the older brother Nicola Dàlonzo. the kitchen was so clean while being used and the air filled with so many fresh aromas. We were later taken into the banquet hall side of the place and sampled some fantastic wines, aperitivos and then served so many great dishes of antipasti hot and cold with such amazing plate presentations, followed by some great pasta dishes and followed by some of the best seafood dishes and meat dishes I ever ate in italy. I highly recommend this ristorante and assure you won`t be dissapointed. A family run place with generations of expierence. It was great also discovering the capo chef, Nicola Dàlonzo was also a spokes chef for Delverde Pasta of FARA SAN MARTINO which is the little town where some of the best pasta in the world is made for world-wide export. He is truly a master of the Abruzzese Kitchen. I can not wait to visit them again!!!More

Before we got to the restaurant we were advised that it's manly fish. The waiter suggested the 'startles' which he said was really enough, as it was a huge variety, and the best choice. There were indeed a good selection of small shellfish and tiny other...types of Gish cooked in various ways. I thought it was delicious, but not enough food for my appetite. It was also fairly pricey. One gets the feeling hat if you're not a local, you don't necessarily get the best deal.More

Abruzzo offers a huge range of good restaurants; nearly all are good, but this is amongst the best. Seafood in profusion, all of which was fresh, simply prepared and cooked to perfection. Had an antipasti of seafood, which required a seperate table to accomodate the...profusion of dishes. There was vongole, scallops, mussels, superb local crab, and about every species of crustacea found in the local waters. An excellent bottle of wine washed the whole meal down, Nichola, the chef/ proprietor came to talk with us about his produce; the conversation was wide ranging, involving the relative merits of Adriatic v. Tyrrenean v. Atlantic crustacea; the first sweeter, the second saltier, and the Atlantic coarser. We had a similar discussion about lamb, mountain v. Pasture v. Pre sallè. A very knowledgeable gentleman, who is a true gastronome. His langoustines are a point in particular, served undercooked, they had a softness and delicacy sadly lacking in the fibrous overcooked offerings in the UK. Glorious, generous food, cooked by a maestro. Will we be back?- Is the Pope a catholic?More

We put our trust in the manager to choose the food. The antipasti went on and on! maybe 6-7 different dishes (cured meats, mozzarella, garlic mushrooms, grilled cheese, asparagus omelette, aubergine etc...). Primi was cheese and herb ravioli with butter, saffron and courgette sauce. Lovely...bread, super rose wine, semifreddo and coffee to finish. All for 50 euros! Highly recommend.More
