After a day driving up from Italy we were in desperate need of sustenance. This restaurant was recommended and was very busy, so a good initial sign. We both ordered filet steak & chips with sauces. My steak although tough was cooked medium as requested. My wife asked for well done but was fairly raw. An age old problem as seems there is still a reluctance to cook 'well done' even though it's a customer choice. My wife loves steak but doesn't want blood in the plate. We were not asked if all ok and therefore did not even get a chance to have a say! She ate a little round the edges and some chips but was not happy. We just paid and left as a little disappointed with food and service. It was a shame as clearly the locals enjoy this restaurant.

Room had been recently modernised to very high standard. Large, comfortable (king size bed), with control panel to set lighting moods and close/open shutter on patio doors. Huge balcony over looking lake teeming with wildlife. One of the best hotel rooms we have stayed in and beats many 4 and 5 star hotel rooms. Hotel is let down by rather mediocre breakfast spread which at nearly ten euros a head is not worth it. Also the tv cannot pick-up any British channels, not even CNN news which seems to be every- where but here! Not a big problems as we spent as much time as possible touring this interesting region but a catch-up on the news over a wine on the balcony would have nice.

We ate dinner at this restaurant in the middle of March. They have 2 dining rooms, one was full with a party going on and the other nearly full mostly of locals enjoying a Saturday night out. We were struggling a bit translating the menu and asking our waitress questions when she suddenly said would you like an English menu! She had forgotten they existed and her English and our French/German was not good enough to ask/translate the French menu. The restaurant is on the French side of the Rhine on an Island called the "ILe du Rhin" (Island of the Rhine) only a few hundred yards away from Germany. The restaurant is nicely decorated with cattle mangers hung from the ceiling filled with straw and artificial flowers. The table clothes from a distance look like the cheap, plastic, red and white check sort, but close up are very pretty embroidered cotton with white hearts inside the red squares. My wife choose a Duck Salad at €14.00 and I choose a Veau Cordon Bleu which came with Green Salad and French Fries for €19.00. I had a Pression (draught) Blonde Lager at €2.60 and we shared a very nice bottle of Syrah for €23.00. We finished our meal by sharing a pudding of "Cafe Gourmand" which consisted; one boule of raspberry ice cream, one mini Crème Brûlée, one small piece of Chocolate Torte and one Chocolate "Cornflake Cake" along with an Expresso Coffee. I changed the Expresso for a Café Allongé (a coffee with more hot water) and cold milk on the side. The whole pudding, coffee included €6.90. The total cost of the meal €65.50. Don't forget that in France and other European countries the service charge has to be included by law so locals do not leave extra tips except a few small coins if they are really very happy. When we checked the bill an extra half bottle of wine, that we didn't have, was on the bill, which the waitress immediately removed, it makes you wonder how many "foreigners" end up buying "extras". So always check your bills! A very pleasant evening.

Two dining rooms, one with view on the horses (we could even watch some horse jumping!) and the other one (which has just been renewed) is the extension of the outside nature with a view on the beautiful lake and rhine river. Alsacian and traditional cuisine (tarte flambée, choucroutte and cordon bleu were delicious!). Very good value for money, can only recommend it.

Lunch was good but overwelhming. The portions are huges. Only one waitress and she was rushed. View over the horse dressage area which keeps you enternained. Food basic but OK. Value for money. Will return one day.

Elderly bite to the queen ( funny sauce) coming out of the madam's stomach on the way home--and me half-baked pie flares (score of 2 out of 10) but since there are only 2 of us to have an opinion in 2024 -- I think we wait until June 2025 but we will look at the comments before -- .....????

Several of us had cordon bleu but they were not cooked enough. The spaetzle had an aftertaste of plastic packaging. The lamb shank too salty. As an aperitif, the dose of white Martini was ridiculous. In short, we paid dearly for the lack of quality. Too bad because superb decor.

Fairly average, accompanying vegetables not great or even bad? Quality ice cream but they don’t make it. Overall disappointing because we feel that the products are not prepared or chosen by them. A good point for the coffee too, very good which is rare.
