We have been visiting Duras for fifty years but have only once eaten at La Terrasse once before. At that time a few years ago, it seemed a bit tired. During this last week, on a rainy day we packed the family off to visit...the chateau while my wife and I went in to la Terrasse to wait for them. We were well before the official opening time. However he manager happily allowed us to come in and have a ``kir or two while waiting for the others. It was as well that we came early because, despite being later in the season, we managed to get the last table. It started to fill up and was absolutely full of locals and tourists. The menu is now very good. There is much local cuisine but with a substantial - fish and chips/ burger and chips for the English of whom there are many in the area. We eschewed the English dishes (why be in France?). There is a very well priced menu of the day which was vey tempting but ordered from the a la carte. Our party had oysters, dorade and a salad. They were all very good, good flavours and good presentation. Service was friendly, polite and attentive. There is local wine by the carafe and a decent and reasonable list. We selected a bottle f a Duras, organic Chenin Blanc and Sauvignon that was excellent. We now live in France, nearer to Ste Foy la Grande for about six months a year. We will certainly make the journey and return to laTerrasse quite oftenMore

My friends and I were visiting the lovely town of Duras to see what we could find there. There is a beautiful old chateau called the Chateau de Duras, which we toured. (We throughly enjoyed it) Right across the street we found Sarl la Terrasse...De Duras. The food and service were excellent and I would highly recommend this restaurant if visiting in the area. As you are dining, you can watch the lighting of the chateau change colors starting at dusk.More

Had lunch here today and just managed to get a table. Very popular spot although a tour group put pressure on places. We chose the menu of the day for 16 euros. A great choice. Started with excellent bread and a pichet of local Rose...for 6.50 euros. The entree was a salmon muffin with salad, excellent. Main was chicken and mushroom rice salad. Very tasty and lovely sauce. The dessert was a coconut slice with cherry ice cream. A great lunch with good service. Highly recommend.More

We have just returned from a two week break in this area, just stunning! This restaurant turned out to be a real gem, wonderful food and great wine. We dined here several times, the menu was varied, with a great specials board. I cannot recommend...it enough, it is also reasonably priced, always a very nice welcome from the staff.More
