On the recommendation of our host at Marchant de Bonne Heuer we ventured to Bistro La Salicorne for supper. Our host graciously arranged a reservation.
We were greeted warmly by the owner of the restaurant and she was most helpful in our selection from the menu. Our entrees and desserts were delicious.
We would highly recommend this restaurant. It alone is worth the trip to L'Islet sur mer!

Great place to visit, delicious food, breathtaking views, nice service. It is probably run by family. I truly recommend!

Was recommended by the b n b owner for dinner on our one night stop over on the way to Nova Scotia . It was a great suggestion.
Dress code is casual, staff are bilingual and treated two Anglophones with grace. Service was very friendly and efficient.
The meal was excellent. Started with onion baji to start was very flavourful. Next for me is the Thai shrimp pizza - memorable for how fresh and balanced the flavours were. Wife really enjoyed the raclette with local cheese and loved every delicious gooey bit.
We had to pass on dessert, but enjoyed watching neighbouring tables and are sure there were delicious.
We are hoping timing will let us stop in on our way home.

We stopped here while doing some genealogy research at the cemetery next door and the church across the street. Very clean and bright home-style atmosphere inside the restaurant. We had the lobster roll and the Croque-monsieur. The waitress appeared to only speak French, which I enjoyed, because I don't but my daughter is learning and it forced her to translate with no cheating in English!!! (insert smiley face). I do not usually review restaurants but it appears that the last review was nearly a year ago so here is mine along with some recent photos of the exterior. Stop by, you will be glad you did!

Our family enjoyed our meal in this pretty restaurant. We ate outside on the porch and watched the sunset over the river. The menu used local ingredients but also had an international feel with the use of spices and seasonings. The food was excellent and satisfied both the omnivores and vegetarians among us. Highly recommended.

We had dinner in this busy place. The menu is relatively short but all dishes look superb and we were not disappointed at all. The chef plays with local ingredients and different savours like an artist. The must visit place!

We took time on our way back from the east coast to get off the beaten path and experience a local bistro. The restaurant is very quaint and authentic with a lovely veranda. We started our lunch with the soup of the day (carrot) which was very tasty. I had the grilled cheese sandwich with home frites which I could only describe as this sandwich would be something your grandma made back in the day, it was excellent. Glad we stopped and would go again if and when I'm in the area again.

This was our third visit and we were not disappointed. For supper we had Bavette de boeuf aux 3 poivres and parmentier de confit de canard. We also purchased Pacanes au sirop d’érable & épices chaï.
There is seating indoors and outdoors (weather permitting!).
Reservations are a must.

First of all get a table on the porch and you can see the church and the St. Lawrence
River. Then enjoy one of the most creative meals you will ever have at a reasonable price. Get the Duck with a combination of sweet potato and mashed potatoes and sides of several seasonal vegetables--all combined with some spices. Outstanding! Entrees and desert were also special. You will enjoy your evening--We did!

We stopped for Lunch at La Salicorne with friends. We choose the table on the terrace with great view on the river. Food was very good and service was fast and friendly. Everything was super fresh and portions were just the right size. They use a lot of local products. I ordered a salad and a cheese plate and both were delicious. My husband ordered a grilled salmon and also liked it a lot and roasted potatoes in a side were super tasty. My other friend ordered sausages and salmon tartar and everyone was happy with their meal. Great restaurant!

We were looking for just a place like this after a full day of summer sunshine. Dinner on the porch watching the St Lawrence and eating excellent food all around. My fresh vegetable pizza with cheddar from Ile aux Grues was unforgettable and fortunately, salicorne was in season to garnish it, along with pea shoots. Our waitress flexibly dealt with a variety of French language proficiency. The middle-eastern flavoured chicken was another high note, as was the local cider flavoured with cranberry. We hunted up the local producer the following morning. All in all, a great find, priced right.

The restaurant is located 300 yards away from the Maritime Museum. We dined outside on the veranda with the beautiful sight of the St. Lawrence river. The salmon tartar was outstanding. The goat cheese appetizer was very good as well. Try the raclette (melted swiss cheese) for something different. All desserts were good!
Service was up to par but could've used a little bit more warmth towards tourists.

La Salicorne was recommended to us by our accommodation host. We are very grateful as it was a lovely evening.
It is in a gorgeous position on the St Lawrence river and we were lucky with the weather; the sun set behind clouds and provided a dramatic backdrop for our meal.
Naturally, French is the main language here but my small amount of French and their perfectly workable English allowed for good communication. We ordered Asian dumplings and Goat's Cheese as starters, with both being delicious. I had sausages and Mrs B salmon for our main course. We enjoyed every mouthful and the carafe of red we had complemented the food well. I finished with a splendid crème brulee and we both had tea. With tax, this came to only $90. I thought this to be good value for a fine meal.
The food was very good, the service charming, and the setting gorgeous. This bistro is well worth a visit if you are in the area.
