We love this restaurant and drove from Lethbridge just to eat here but the last 3 times we’ve visited the wait time for food is over an hour. I guess that’s the compromise for a ‘hot spot’ but not sure we’re willing to continue waiting. Again, great food if you’re willing to wait … and wait… and wait… ;D

Tania was our server and she was awesome to say the least, energetic, lively and very positive not to mention humorous.
I been tasted up for a burger for quite a while but because of Covid we haven't been out much restaurant wise.
Been looking for that knock out of the park burger for a while. And boy did they ever deliver, tasty cooked to perfection bun was super nice toasty and not super huge. Asked for no crap on the bun never got any.
Did I mention Tania being an amazing attribute to this restaurant.
Highly recommended, looking at other people's food it also looked well prepared and presented.
First class operation for sure!!!

This has been a regular travel stop for us for years. First time back in a few months and in addition to the regular good food and service a nice addition is a “smaller portion” menu (5oz burger instead of 8oz, etc.), and they’ve made a couple nice additions to their taps (Corona!).
Great food, great service.

Seriously one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. Service beyond lacking. It was down right rude.
Got the worst tiniest table, got bumped into by everyone waiting to get in.
Waitress was rude. Ask to move. Answer “I don’t care, it’s not my place”. And so on.
When our pizza came, the girl literally threw it on the table. So we took it to go
Then the drunken locals yelled at us when we were leaving because the staff was vocal about not getting an in deserved tip.
I honestly wished I had bought the pizza from the Circle K. Not like food Rum Runners was much better than than what’s under the rack at the gas station. I just would have paid less than 1/2 for a pizza, with out an hour of stress and attitude.
As we left, we called the restaurant. They weren’t interested at all what we had to say and rudely told us to just leave us a review on line. (Bad idea). People traveling through your town are tired and hungry. We would be happy to pay for good service and food, not your poor attitude.
I’m a nutshell……………….,,,
Never going back, not worth the hype.

My boyfriend and I went and had drinks and food. The drinks were water down and tasted horrible. The service was very slow but the big issue were the drinks and I am sure we got taken we tried 3 different drinks and one was a double and it tasted like just coke. The Moscow mules tasted like there was no alcohol and no ginger beer. The huge Caesars tasted like pickles and no vodka.
The food was really good that was the only good thing.

We have visited this restaurant each year we are in Crowsnest for the past 6 years. My first review gave this place a 5. After our last visit, it will be a long time before we stop again. The food is always good but waiting 90 minutes for an appetizer and a meal is not. While we understand the region has been struggling to find staff, someone should have communicated the delay and not left us sitting there. We entered the restaurant at 4:45 to beat the rush as we know they get busy. We left at 6:15 and missed our show. We waited almost 15 minutes just to order as we did not know what we wanted the minute we sat down. After that, we saw no one for 20 minutes and only because they had to serve our food. To add to this experience, the debit machines were not working correctly and when I got home, I was charged twice for the same disappointing experience. Think twice about stopping here unless you have all night.

While on our last day of our camping trip to Chinook Lake we decided to eat at the Rum Runner. My boyfriend ordered the Peppercorn Burger with onion rings and I had the Chicken Santa Fe Salad with their chippers and dip to start. Wow! That was the first words out of our mouths as we tasted the food.
The Santa Fe Salad was full of veggies, kale, and a surprising twist of dried cranberries which tasted amazing! I have only seen my boyfriend eat a plate of food that big once before and it was literally because it tasted so good he couldn't stop eating. The chippers were crispy with an amazing Cajun seasoning that you could enjoy plain or with the dip.
Overall an amazing treat for us and when we come back to the pass this will be a must eat at stop!! If you are traveling through the pass, stop and drop in at the Rum Runner. You won't regret your decision!!!

I ordered the Montreal Smoked Meat sandwich with sweet potato fries. The sweet potato fries were perfect! The sandwich itself was also delicious. I'm always a sucker for a good Montreal smoked meat sandwich, and this hit the spot. The staff was very friendly and accommodating.
I think they could improve their COVID practices. With all the preventative measures I can only imagine how difficult it is to be open at this time, so I understand that they are trying their best with what they are given. With that said, I found some of their seating areas were too close together. My seat was less than a metre from another family. Furthermore, my table was beside the host's area, so people were frequently walking close to my family to get menus and go to their table.
I was only able to watch the cleaning of a table once, but that time could have been better. The person cleaning the table wiped the top of the table and the seats, which is fantastic, but they neglected the arm rests of the chair where most people are touching with their hands.
Also I believe the staff should be wearing masks especially since most of the waiting staff are getting close to customers. Most restaurants require their staff to wear masks. I know that masks are not 100% effective in preventing the spread, but they do help and they are the best option at the moment.
I admit it's a lot to ask a restaurant to be perfect, especially when I know Rumrunner is doing the best they can at the moment. Of course I am sure they have more measures in place that are not observable by an average customer. In any other circumstance, this review would be a 4 or 5 because the food was great; I just think that their handling of the current pandemic also affected my experience.

The first time I went to Rumrunners they had the most fabulous ceasers, a nice big piece of maple bacon in them, they were delicious, but they have since decided that it was too much work to do that, so have stopped. So I have stopped going there after the last time when they decided to quit this unique drink. They were such a treat. Foods not bad, so if you aren't a ceaser person, you'll still enjoy going there.

We have stopped here regularly for many years during our travels, and it has always been a favourite. Something seems to have changed, some old fav’s are gone off the menu (goodbye beef dip!) and the service was just, well, adequate, nothing more. The staff did not seem particularly happy to be there and our meals were very average. Kind of disappointing and maybe time to find a new spot.

Have always enjoyed the Rum Runner on drives through the pass. Food quality always good. Serving sizes too. Today was a disappointment. Almost an hour’s wait for our food and that was only half of our group of eight. The other 4 people had to wait another 15 minutes. The “Single Club” came with such a small piece of chicken breast it most certainly was not worth the $16.95. I sure hope today was an unfortunate exception.

Have wanted to stop in for a while, and finally had a chance last weekend. The service was great, but it was tough to understand the beer list verbally; restaurant is rockin' so also a bit loud...but that's what its about. Bison and Peppercorn burgers were excellent - choice of sides is long and interesting. All in it was $60 for 2 plus tip. 1 burger 1 beer each. There's an opportunity to showcase some more local beers, however understand that may be difficult with the volumes they have going through.

Food was good and the price was awesome For 4 people we were under 200 bucks so we tipped hi
We had sirloin steaks that were very good , friends had the fish and chips and we had a smoked meat sandwich and fry’s Portions were good
Our other table had the fish as well and a chimichuri They said the same thing very tasty and consistent
If your riding through the pass it’s possibly your best stop ? Also worth mentioning we were treated very well during these trying times so that’s a plus as well.
My only complaint would be the butter that was in my steak ? I don’t think it was butter ? It seemed to lack flavour and was greasy. Wanna say that was margarine ? Steak and butter is true decadence but that needs to be real butter. I will be asking questions next time we ride up there.

I love the rum runner! Have been coming here for years, it’s about time I give them a review. Their ceasers are the best!! I crave them often and I make trips from Pincher Creek just to have a ceaser from the Rum Runner. The food is always really good. I often have The quesadilla and it’s great, very spicy and cheesy. The quesadilla comes with a side and I always get a side of their mediterranean salad which is always fresh and delicious. This time I had the Caprese Flatbread with a side Mediterranean salad, it was sooo good, presentation was on point and flavours were excellent. I sat out on their patio and noticed it’s a dog friendly patio which is amazing and very rare to find!! Tania was our server and she’s always a delight, quick service and very knowledgable about her job. I always hope Tania will be our server whenever we visit, she’s absolutely fantastic! Thank you Rum Runner, until next time!

We had a large group booking.
Reservation went great.
However when the food orders were put in, they served the adults first and the kids became hungry and impatient. We should not have to remind staff to serve easy food for kids first and do the adults after.
