Unexpected treat in small town Alberta

We had a great meal at Ben Wongs. My expectations had been low - we were visiting from Montreal and Toronto, so what could small town Alberta produce in the way of Chinese food? - but our meal was just great. We went on a Friday night but ordered a la carte rather than taking the buffet on offer. Our 3 dishes were very generous portions and uniformly delicious. Jody the hostess (owner?) was extremely friendly and helpful as well as giving us selections from the buffet to sample. Julia our waitress was very personable too. In all, an unexpectedly positive experience at Ben Wongs and I would definitely recommend this Cantonese style Chinese restaurant! Prices aren't cheap abut quality is good and portions large so it is well worth it.

This spot is a Great place to go to for Friday night eats with a great scenery to go with it. I'll definitely be going there again..

Best Chinese in Alberta

Not only was the food amazing, but the service was impeccable! I was staying in town at a writer's residency for only two weeks but Jody remembered me the other couple times I ate there (what, it is was just across the tracks from me and when I'm writing I don't have brain to cook with 😂), and recommended different things, as well as multitasking around the brightly decorated dining area and helping customers calling I for pickup.

Pretty hit and miss

My first experience here was horrible, I went with friends and had the Friday night buffet, it was not good, not at all we all swore we'd never go back. But when it was suggested we go again, three months later, I thought 'I'll just have soup', but we all ordered one dish and it was great, so great in fact, I decided to order take out that Sunday.. Not good. I checked out their menu on line and saw this lovely dish (in the picture provided) and I was excited. When I got home, all that there was, were noodles and some cabbage, NOTHING like the picture shown for that dish, no shrimp, no beef, no broccoli, no baby corns, no ANYTHING but noodles and cabbage. So I'm back on the 'not ever going back' ever. Too much of a hit and miss.

Spring roll Coma

Very good menu. Spring rolls are the best I have ever had! Definitely not the usual pre-made frozen most places serve... highly recommend you go get a spring roll... or two.... or three... I could live off these.

This Place is AMAZING!

The service was very well mannered! Jody brought the most welcoming hospitality I've seen in this town! Jody is the nicest and sweetest human being I have ever met, I have celiac and she MADE sure that I was able to eat there. This was my first time there and I will be back 100%. The other server Nadine was also super nice, the food was amazing I would recommend the ginger chicken with the steam rice.

Excellent food. Had the buffet and was the best we have had in a long time every dish tasted like it was made to order not just pushing food out because of a buffet excellent selection Great service and price

Good Food

Stayed overnight in town. This one looked promising and we were not disappointed. Menu had lots of offerings. We tried the special fried rice and the beef/snow peas. It was excellent with generous servings. Must be a local favourite judging by the numerous clientele that were present. Service was good. It was favourable experience. Would definitely eat there again.

Food taste good but service below average

Good Chinese buffet on weekend and the food taste fresh. We have had to wait though often for service and although we have been there often they seem unhappy to be there. My grown children have noticed the same. It would be great to get quicker service and a smile!

Don’t Pass the Dumplings in the Crowsnest Pass!

Jody and Ben Wong feature homemade pork dumplings, spring rolls and wonton soup to die for. I really, really, really love the pork dumplings and I urge you to stop in and don’t pass by the Crowsnest Pass town of Blairmore and Ben Wong’s. We eat here all the time.

We had a very nice night out here. The food was good and the service got better as our meal went on. The spring rolls were very very good. They looked fresh made and I will order them again. The ginger beef and mushroom chop suey were good as well. We were treated to complimentary dessert which were a nice touch and sweet surprise. I will go back.

Nice little surprise

Stopped for an early supper on our way through Crowsnest. Service was quick and friendly. The food was very good. We will stop again when we are passing through next time.
