Friendly staff at an old school house café. We had a delicious vegetable scone which kept us going. The café also has local art for sale and nice gardens with cute different color sheep running around. The café is quite trendy looking. If you prefer fish and chips, there is a small outside truck stop further down the road.

We called in with a motorcycle club ride on a beautiful day, enjoying the twisties and the beautiful Catlins scenery. The coffee was very good, the service excellent and the food turned out to be the highlight of the day! I had the beef burger with fries. Every part of the meal was better than any other restaurant burger I've... More

When in the Catlins, Waikawa and curio Bay you will find many interesting things to do. The one thing that will be hard to find is a place to eat. You are basically at the end of the earth and further south you will find the roaring forties. The Niagara Falls Cafe is one of those rare places where you... More

Sadly the restaurant was closed for a function when we visited I suggest you phone ahead to ensure they are open. We planned our day around stopping here.

Generous portions. If you try soup AND a main course you'll be defeated. We ate there twice and had soup and dessert on one occasion and just a main course on the other. More than enough on both occasions!

Food was locally sourced, perfectly cooked and substantial. There are not many places to eat in the vicinity and this place is deservedly popular.

We had been traveling all day, driving from the east coast and stopping at Waipapa Lighthouse and Slope Point in the rain. Upon arrival in Curio Bay you got the sense of remoteness. That is all good and fine until hunger sets in and there is nowhere to eat. Fortunately this lovely cafe was just an 8 minute drive to... More

Make sure to stop here, have a coffee and please taste the awesome homemade carrot cake! The whole family works here and it's really city in a historic building (was used as a school before). All food is with local ingredients. The daughter won a lot of prices at the Olympic games which is impressive! The garden is lovely and... More

The service was great, very friendly and welcoming, the café is a converted old school building with beautiful well maintained grounds. Unfortunately the quality of the food let the place down.
