Don't let the tired decor put you off. A restaurant is all about the food and the ambiance and the Hungry Trout is great for both. We went with friends so two couples and we all had an excellent meal with no complaints at all. The house red wine was well priced and very nice. I can recommend the Merlot.... More

Amazing location, right in front of New Quay beach. We ate in the tables outside on a drizzly March Sunday but the overhead umbrellas kept the rain out. Anyhow, soon the arrival of the food distracted us from the drizzle. What delicious offerings! I had ordered a mussel and crayfish stew, which felt a bit risky, as could have been... More

We booked for Mother's Day and were really looking forward, but although the Sunday lunch was ok, the service was not at all friendly, which you would expect for the prices charged. The lady that served us was borderline rude, however the male waiter was lovely. The food was nothing special. I've heard the food mid week off the fish... More

Arriving just before the end of lunch time the staff were willing and pleasant, the four different meals were thoroughly enjoyed by each of our group. I would definitely make a detour to eat there again, for the flavourful, beautifully presented, reasonably priced meal as well as the delightful location with the sea as a backdrop.

From the moment we booked until we left was a special experience. Excellent food, good staff (even the trainee) and good ambiance. Highly recommended.

Our family loves this restaurant and we often (too often!) take the 2+hour journey there just to have lunch. The seafood-based cuisine is excellent and it is all cooked from scratch. That said, we heard today that the scampi is bought in, which seems right and proper! The specials board of fish and seafood is always, year round, so exciting... More

We walked around New Quay looking for somewhere to have lunch. This restaurant is in a class of its own amongst the usual seaside fodder. The food plentiful and well prepared, apparently home cooked and very reasonably priced. Friendly service. Well done!

My husband and I ate here in Feb. We had the fillet steak which was a little overcooked but still very nice. Nice atmosphere good choice which includes a reasonably priced 2 or 3 course menu. Would recommend it for a treat
