If you love wine, you probably know Sassicaia. San Guido is Sassicaia's Winery. the restaurant (osteria/enoteca) has a charming atmosphere, country side with a touch of italian romance. The food is delicious and the wines... amazing! overall it is not perfect between food, service and...mise en place. It is not the typical gourmet place you'd think of, but its authenticity made of imperfections makes it special. An important and commercialized name, internationally recognized, still once you enter you feel the italian spirit and welcoming atmosphere. Giuseppe is a great host! go and try it yourself!More

Fantastic experience dining here. From the phenomenal food to the beautiful scenery you can expect the best. The refined flavours in the wine is especially commendable and truly sets itself above and beyond expectations. The ingredients are clearly carefully selected in both food and wine...as can be tasted by the complex yet complementary flavours. The setting is admirably clean and provides a strong sense of tranquility. In addition to this, the service managed to uphold the high standards with accommodating and friendly staff as well as short waiting times. We dined at this restaurant last week after a recommendation from a cycling guide. We were not disappointed. Sophisticated food and not too expensive. My husband had a wild boar with chocolate which he said was divine. My daughter and I had the two pastas...of the day. The desserts were delicious too. The restaurant is on the beautifully tree lined road to Bolgheri.More

Very simple and understated in terms of decor but still pleasant and enjoyable. We were sat outside in the shade in the garden area and it was very tranquil and lovely. The food was incredible: we opted for the tasting menu with wines, which consisted...of 2 starters, 2 mains and a desert. The starters were AMAZING: beef tartare with truffle and then a foie gras brioche, then spinach and ricotta balls with ragu (which were also incredible) followed by braised boar (delicious) and apple sorbet. It was all very nice and the wines were great but they were not very attentive when it came of service and offering more drink when your glass was empty: even our water. They bought out the wines on the tasting list in accordance with the matched foods but beyond that, there was nothing. All in all a lovely lunch with the only minor whinge being they could be a bit more attentive for drinks.More

We went there for quick lunch, ordered some food and they brought us some bread like they do in most Italian restaurants, on our way out I looked at our recipt and noticed there was 5 euro charge and when I asked the manager he...said that was for the bread, nobody charge for bread that they bring to the table and that was very cheap move on their part. Staff were nice and friendly and good was average but is beautiful place. I hope they act more profesionally next time.More

pricey but it does give you an up close and personal view of those famous wines, San guido is always on my list, book in advance though!
