Under new management apparently. We were a table of 11 & we preordered to make it easy for the restaurant team. Everything was disgusting! I feel terrible to say it but it truly was. The portions were gigantic but 'off-puttingly' so! The mushroom Wellington was about 30 mushrooms sliced up and shoved in a pasty case!!! The fries were so... More

Hi Louise I am really sorry to hear you thought our restaurant was "Awful" but feel I need to address a few issues as its very rare we receive a 1 star review, the last time being back in April this year over an incident with a steak (don't ask!). Now I am not saying we are infallible, in the... More

Not much to say really. It's a fantastic spot to eat and drink. I enjoyed a pint of copper dragon ale. Munched on some nachos, which was just perfect. I then had there Belgian ciniman waffle... I've never had a waffle so nice, it was perfection. Would love to try a stay there, it has a friendly warming atmosphere. They... More

Went on a Sunday as part of a large group for their cavery lunch. It was very empty (revealing?) One item was not available in the starter menu (not for the first time). Main course was just okay, but not very generous on the meat and the Yorkshire puddings were very dry and slightly burnt. The desserts were by far... More

Hi sayitdirectly Sorry things were not to your liking but I do find a certain irony in your username as you raised none of your concerns on the day. As we run a small Sunday roast dinner service we do from time to time run out of some of the more popular items on the menu. If we have ran... More

I cannot fault this place at all, it is truly amazing! The food was delicious and not one single complaint from any of our party group. There was loads of food and so we felt bad leaving some as it was so good! I'm sure everything we had was homemade and very good quality. The staff were fantastic, very accommodating,... More

The mushroom and chestnut wellington was delicious! The food here is quite good, you get large portions, and the interior of this pub is really nice and cosy. Desserts are pricey and don't taste as good as they look. Overall, a nice enough place to eat.

We spent a very enjoyable week at Gamekeepers Cottage in Wigglesworth and ate at The Plough on two evenings and also the Sunday lunchtime (great roast). Every meal was excellent and the staff always friendly and helpful. We also liked the fact that tables were quite nicely spread out so you are not knocking elbows with the next table as... More

Really friendly staff, plenty of eating rooms in different areas of the restaurant all of which are lovely rooms. We had two evening meals and one breakfast all of which were fabulous! Would recommend

We visited here for lunch when passing. The food was very nice and freshly cooked. The gardens are big at the back and which is perfect for if you are going with dogs. The staff are extremely friendly and pleasant which was lovely. The food was very good and fresh - the chips and main were delicious. The only down... More
