Sat down at 2.30pm, ordered drinks and then starters. Drinks arrived and starters arrived quite quickly, unfortunately we waited 2hrs for our main meals and when they arrived all were cold and one meal wasn't even made. Very disappointed as it was my daughters Birthday....Couldn't fault the waiting staff but I would suggest getting a chef that can cope with serving up 5 hots meals.More

We had a brilliant baby shower in the pub function room which is a lovely room decked out with Christmas decorations and overlooking beautiful Rottingdean pond. The staff were so helpful in their communications with me running up to the event, it was really so...helpful being provided all the menus in digital format prior to the event so that we could all pre order. Setting the plough apart from other function venues was the low deposit and ability to for each individual to pay for their pre order on arrival, this eliminated the usual stressful scramble to calculate the bill at the end of the meal. The pub also allowed us ample time to further decorate the function room for the baby shower. The food was delicious and generous in its portions. Thank you so much, I will certainly be booking functions here again in the futureMore

One of the best Sunday lunches. Great quality food and very generous sizes. Only able to get a table as we were early for lunch, next time I will book in advance. Very friendly staff. Dog friendly.

We called in for an impromptu supper after a day travelling around the area, and were warmly greeted. The place was quite quiet, but a small group of authentic locals were in earnest discussion in one corner, and a very acceptable soundtrack of '80's music...gently wafted throughout. We both opted for what turned out to be an al-round very good burger and chips, with a couple of pints of exceptionally kept Harvey's Sussex Best Bitter. The staff even took pity on two old and knackered traveller and brought drinks to the table! An excellent establishment, well worth a visit.More

Superb service and wonderful food - fish and chips with a focaccia starter, great crisp beers served ice cold in clean glasses. Everything a pub should be - not cheap but still value for money. Fish was ocean fresh and chips chunky and crispy yet...soft on the inside. Wonderful experience - dog friendly and small enough to be intimate. We tried to go to the Black Horse in the town first (Greene King) but they said they couldn’t do food. We’re very grateful that we were diverted to the Plough. Highly recommend - you won’t be disappointed.More

Poor food. Inaccurate menu. Unenthused staff. What a shame… this really used to be the best pub for food in Rottingean. Hands. Down. I have brought my family here on multiple occasions. However, recent meals have been a shambles, items missing with no prior warning...or explanation, just an offer of discount when we complain, which just ruins your evening. Most recently an order of “plant based redefined burger, bbq pulled beef and vegan sheese” came with a Pattie only in the bun. No “pulled beef” and no “sheese” for £17.95 - no prior warning, just offered a discount. Management said not many people order it and haven’t had many complaints. I would have ordered something else or gone elsewhere if I’d known, at that extortionate price for a non homemade burger and frozen fries. The staff didn’t particularly care, offering 50% off that dish and saying they would “talk to the kitchen, once again”. Was once a favourite, now no more. Rip the plough, we won’t return unless the kitchen franchise changes. Very sad.More

Been here loads over the years - it was one of our favourite pubs for food and drink and we’d come almost every week or two. It’s massively gone down hill recently. We thought we’d try it again after a few months absence and it’s...the same story. Sub-standard food for premium prices. £17.00 for a beer burger is obscene considering how dry it comes out. We’re not coming back anymore - it’s a shame. A once great foodies pub has left me rather eat at Wetherspoons… And I hate Wetherspoons with a passion.More

The first evening of our long awaited return to Rottingdean and our first instinct was to visit what we remembered as the best pub in the village. It was around 6:00pm and fairly quiet apart from two lads, obviously on their way home from work...in their 'action man' gear, noisily clowning around on bar stools. As they played with a retractable measuring tape it was inevitable that an accident was imminent as one of them toppled a full pint over the bar and surroundings. Sadly, the tolerant bar staff, possibly a bit of flirting going on, allowed this to go on with little concern for the older couples who by now we're beginning to leave. Their tolerant attitude probably swayed by the fact that the lads are big spending regulars. We had also planned some big spending the rest of the week at the Plough but sadly a change of plans and did not return. Sent from Yahoo Mail on AndroidMore

Cosy pub with friendly, attentive staff serving excellent food. We ate here two midweek nights & was really impressed, only to be completely blown away by the outstanding Sunday roast. What a treat.

This is well run by the manager but the prices for drinks are ridiculous. £5.15 for a point of Harveys and £1, 80 for a packet of crisps!! This could have more locals as competitors in the village are at least 60p cheaper for a...pint of Harveys and are sensible on the cost of crisps. Get it right - this is not central Brighton!!!More

The best pub in the village by some way. Lovely cosy décor, an outside area overlooking the village pond. Good selection of ales and nice, reasonably priced pub food.

A lovely old pub with lots of character in beautiful Rottingdean and somewhere we were looking forward to visiting. Oh how disappointed we were. The service was awful, slow and inattentive and our cold starters took 40 minutes to arrive with no apology. The mains...were nice but so obviously re cooked and/or reheated. Disappointing experience.More

Hi, There is outside space to the side of the pub (nearest to the pond) and I think that there is access into the rooms of the pub/ restaurant from this area. To confirm I would phone the pub.
