We called Tricia at The Trellis Restaurant to book an Afternoon Tea to celebrate our wedding anniversary with our daughters. Tricia provided all our favourite sandwich fillings, cakes of our choice and beautiful scones. When we arrived we were greeted by a lovely, polite and...professional waitress who went out of her way to make us welcome. We took 4 dogs and they were welcomed too. We had proper vintage china. All the food was amazing. Tricia even added a few extra bits, such as fresh strawberries. It was extremely good value for money and we all agreed it was the BEST Afternoon Tea ever, and that even beats the one we had at Langhams in London! Would highly recommend and will be going back again soon.More

Really lovely place, absolutely beautiful and family friendly with very fun donut cushions that my children adored! The roast was delicious and tasted very homemade, and my husband had a cream tea and said they were the best scones he’d ever had in his life...- with real strawberries in the jam! Excellent service as well, very friendly and the atmosphere was cheery and relaxing. Will be coming back soon!More

You were not customers of this business at all. On a very busy and stressful Sunday lunchtime at 1 o’clock, when we were short of our waitress due to illness, you came in to hand in your CV and ask for a job! I believe...More

We went to The Trellis Cafe on 16th Feb. What a fabulous find. It is quirky in the best way. The staff were warm and friendly and there was a lovely fire in the hearth. We had the Rottingdean Smugglers High Tea. We picked our...toastie from the menu which was followed by warm homemade scones with lashings of cream and jam. The tea was in a pot and we also got some extra hot water. Everything about our visit was excellent. We will most certainly be back!More

Serves a simple "traditional" menu (nothing adventurous), inside is small with busy decor, very much trying to step back several decades (music to match). The simple food was pleasant, the pot of tea was generous and served in old fashioned mismatched china (which I liked).

Fantastic lunch and tea spot. Wonderful fast and courteous service. We ate fish and chips and baked potatoes with baked beans and thoroughly enjoyed. We did not have room for the scrumptious looking scones and tea cakes but will definitely be back soon to enjoy....It was a rainy and cold day and the fire was warmly lit which made the place so cozy.More

What a lovely little place this is! We sat inside (as a family of 5 - parent, kids & grandparents) & everywhere you looked there was something quirky & interesting to feast your eyes on - from vintage car collectors cards, to ration books &...hanging tea cups. The food was great & very good value - real home cooked delicious food, very generous portion sizes & considering we all ordered five different mains, it arrived very quickly & cooked perfectly. With 2 fussy children in tow - the menu options were very good & varied, & both kids really enjoyed their meals (steak pie, broccoli, carrots, peas & chips and plaice fish, chips & peas). Both said they would be very happy to go back again soon. So hats off to those in the kitchen, as well as the gentleman waiting on us, for a wonderful lunch. We look forward to returning. They also do traditional cream teas with fresh scones, so will definitely be returning to try those soon too.More
