A cold, dark January night was lit up by our first visit here in a long time. This is splendid pub/eatery, with quirky furnishings, good cask beers, and, most important, excellent food. Soup and main for a tenner. Great value and beautiful , freshly cooked food . Soup was excellent but should have been served with more bread. Everything else was faultless. Service was very good

We celebrated new year here and the food was outstanding. I had the terrine for starters followed by the halibut, both delicious. I had not eaten here in a while and had forgotten what a fantastic chef Pete is. Can't wait to eat here again.

We were in the restaurant as a family on Christmas Eve. As usual the staff and the food were spot on. Everyone had different meals and everyone was more than happy, even my eldest son who is no mean chef himself. We have visited now on several occasions and have yet to leave with any sort of disatisfaction. The pub... More

Arrived at noon today, ordered drinks and asked for a menu, told if we did not have a reservation we could not order food as they were fully booked. That would have been acceptable, but there was one man in the bar and no one in the restaurant. We sat in the bar for 45 minutes and when we left... More

We visited the Black Bull with friends recently for a late afternoon lunch. The decor is quite quirky ...LP covers, pictures, all sorts of 70's / 80's items lying around ...even a visit to the loo needs time to take in the decor there ! Staff very friendly with lots of time for us. And the food .....my starter of... More

We met up in a large family group in this pub for a recent Sunday lunch. Some of our party had been before but it was new to most of us. We had a lovely table in a corner which pleased us as we had two young children in the party. The food arrived promptly, piping hot and served by... More
