Such a yummy treat for less than $2 for enough to feed 2. We were lucky enough to find a stall where they showed us where they made the curd. Must be eaten with the treacle. A good one can be inverted and held over your head without falling out. Don't be taken in by the supermarket variety.

. . . from chatting to the sellers to eating the buffalo curd and honey/syrup. It's so tasty and yet so simple. Must see if it's available in the UK.

The southern Sri Lankan buffalo curd is famous all over the island. One can see fields of buffalo grazing peacefully and their milk is made into this wonderful 'sour' curd that is sold in clay pots on roadside stalls. Traditionally it is served with sweet treacle. It is most definitely worth trying and is not expensive if bought at the... More

You have to try this: yoghurt made from buffalo milk. It has a very distinct taste and add a bit of kithul treacle you are in haven. We even bought two clay pots of these to keep in our room fridge eat in our hotel. So delicious.

Definitely worth the try - its local and fresh and good for your health. Eating 1/2 litres in one go was not a problem for me :)

We stopped at the roadside where a family had set up many clay pots for curd. Not to worry, the stuff rests in an old, battered but still working fridge inside. The honey is sweet and palm sugar honey is the best choice. Curd is a buffalo yoghurt, a bit strong but nice and healthy. We paid 220 rupies for... More

There are a large number of curd vendors on heroadside. You can stop by and sample some. These are tasty and help you get a feel for the region.

We were returning from the Yala National Park and stopped near Tissamaharama to buy some curd from one of the many stalls in that area that sell it as their main product. The best curd in Sri Lanka is made there and transported around the island.

There are many places that sell buffalo curs along this road, prices are quite reasonable. Curd is very cooling this dry season, never miss this when I travel
