Beautiful stay (3nights) in Metis sur mer, at Auberge du grand fleuve; Auberge is ideally located by the water, very friendly staff; diner and breakfast both delicious. Highly recommend staying with Marguerite and her team.

The locals seem all to agree that if you want fine dining in Metis-sur-Mer, and are willing to pay for it, the Auberge du Grand Fleuve is the place to go. We had dinner there twice during our 11-day vacation visit to Metis-sur-Mer and were...delighted both times. Highlights: an outstanding asparagus, celery and garlic soup; a wonderful smoked salmon with lentils starter; a melt-in-your mouth 24-hour braised veal dish with a Bordeaux wine sauce; cod one night and turbot the other - both delicious; and excellent coffee and espresso. Service and wine also more than adequately good. And amazing sunsets over the St. Lawrence, including, on our first evening there, incredible visual effects caused by fog rolling in and then retreating with amazing speed. Not cheap, but how could it be?More

Highlight was our experience at their restaurant. Food was out-of-of-this-world and the wine selection was very good. We chose a table in the "library " for its quietness. We also enjoyed the view of the sunset directly from our seat. We liked our room with...a view in the sea where we drank our aperitif. The balconies are somewhat close to one another but our neighbours were absent. Room was quiet. We give it a rating of 5 since we believe that this auberge is most likely the best one in the outskirts. Caroline et Jean-FrançoisMore

Snobbish, expensive, bed&breakfast with breakfast not included (15$ port person surcharge regardless of age). Rude service. Would not recommend.

High end dining with exceptional french cuisine. Also features accommodations with views and sunsets on the majestic, St. Lawrence River in a quiet Quebecois village

Traveling the Gaspe for salmon fishing in June 2016 we were staying in Metis-sur -mer and arranged for our host to make a dinner reservation for four on the Saturday night which was made with Mr.Raynald the owner. The four of us showed up at...7pm.and were advised by the son, that he was in "charge" and said he could find no reservation and they were unable to provide the agreed service. The dinning room which reminded me of a coffee shop of a cheap motel was fairly full with the guests from the Inn's next door motel which is a conversion from the towns old bowling alley. There was only one table for four which was occupied. I have been treated rudely over my 75 years but not for such a long time. The son should read a book on serving the public in Canada which I am sure the father will have given his past. Having been refused service we drove 4 minutes away to Le Matelot restaurant which had over 50 cars in the parking lot and the owner, after hearing of our treatment at the Auberge, found a table and we had a great meal.More

After sitting down for dinner, we were given the menu which only included the Table d'hôte for the price of $51.95. I was a bit surprised by the price as the choice was OK but not that great. Anyhow, we decided to stay and I...took the table d'hôte while my friend who suffers from the Crone disorder asked if she could only take two small entrees and a green salad. The waitress agreed. We each had a glass of wine. My meal was OK. The service was nice enough. But it was very overpriced. With the taxes and the tip, I paid $80 for my meal and they charged exactly the same price to my friend who only had taken two small entrees and a green salad with a glass of wine. I did not realize this as I was not at the counter when she paid but had I seen it, I would have protested. Therefore, I was disappointed with this place. Thank God, there was a nice sunset and the view was great. Theo, one of the two sons of the owner, was also quite pleasant and gave us a good service, except for the bill at the end of the meal for my friend :-(More

Such a good meal. A beautiful spot, lovely proprietors. What you hope you will find on Gaspe. And then we did. Prix fixe, 4 courses. Wife and I ordered differently to taste more. Everything we had was good.

Every summer we visit at least twice and always are served a delicious meal. Service sometimes idiosyncratic but adds to the charm and uniqueness of a gem that one would never expect in this neck of the woods!

We casually stopped in the parking adjacent to auberge du grand fleuve, walked to the beach and started to "Ozone" out and decided to walk into the inn so we could benefit from this phenomenon At first the rate of $260. seemed extravagant for a...hotel room, this fee included dinner for two and breakfast. we accepted and got a lovely room in the motel part (No TV, Yeah!) the dinner was in this lovely setting looking over the Saint Lawrence (The sea?) sunset and typical cuisine française as the owners are from Brittany (Clues are all around the room and the food) Typical french service (slow for you to enjoy as there is only one sitting) Best sleep and great breakfast with Crepe bretonne of course. Do not miss an opportunity to stay or eat at this marvellous country inn.More

Really fine, fresh, seasonal food. Well chosen wine list. Four course menu. Choose from several appetizers like duo of fresh salmon, quail, clams. Mains are generously accompanied by seasonal vegetables. Halibut, cod, scallops, rabbit among the selections. Attentively prepared. Hope there's blueberry or rhubarb tartelette for...dessert, but the chocolate fondant is good too. Memorable cuisine.More
