Such a unique coffee shop filled with artisan gift ideas and shelves of books to sit and read with a good cup of coffee or tea. Relaxing atmosphere!

The atmosphere is wonderful. Comfortable chairs, books to borrow and games to play, all invite you to stay and enjoy the delicious soups, baked goods and coffee. Local artists are featured, and sold here. Sadly, not a stop for early morning coffee, as they don’t...open until 9am.More

This cafe provides so many wonderful services: it is a cafe serving delicious breakfast through yummy late afternoon tea; a fantastic gift shop selling wonderful local and regional items as well as beautiful international items; it is a welcoming community meeting place. People are so...friendly here. You can always go and ask for help finding the best local attractions for your needs. I rarely leave without buying some item that I can't live without. Enjoy!More

Much more than a coffee shop, it features week end brunch with a great chef, a gift shop promoting regional artists, and periodic vernissages with local musicians.

We visited with our family. It was very nicely decorated, and there were lots of things to look at. We found it to be overpriced, but there weren't any other options we could find in town.

A sweet little spot for breakfast or lunch. Charming ambiance! The best cup of tea ice had in a very long time. The scones were a delight. The homemade soup was enjoyed by the whole family.

I have been coming to the region for over 30 years and this is the first great spot to come and relax. Amazing coffee, tea served in china cups, sconea like my grandma made. There are books to be borrowed and treasures to be bought....Stay for a light meal and you won't regret it!More

A local gathering spot with fine coffees and pastries. The cottage/summer themed offerings of the store show taste and elan and are head and shoulders above the usual in a small seaside town. Well worth a visit especially if one of the special art show...openings or entertaining lectures are in swing. A jewel of a spot.More

Whether you are staying nearby or just passing through on a trip around the Gaspe, a stop at the Cafe-sur-Mer is not to be missed! Located in the heart of a small village, located just 'off' the 132, this is a great little place to...stop for lunch or for a latte and a little something sweet. However, the hidden 'surprise' is that this is much more than just a cafe. It is also part local meeting place, part art gallery, and part gift shop. Located inside the charming interior, you will find high quality art and jewelery created by local craftspeople, an outstanding selection of kids toys, and coastal themed home goods and decor. There is truly something for everyone at this very special shop.More

We made it a point to stop here and break up a long drive between Quebec and Campbellton, NB.Going in to see Metis sur Mer meant that we drove an extra 44 km (round trip) out of our way, past the southern turnoff. No matter,...it was well worth the trip! My husband and I both had a delicious soup, and I also had a latte. I didn't have a brownie, but I hear that they are great! (already full from the soup) I really enjoyed browsing through the shop, where they have beautiful gift items, and lots of photos, art, jewellery, etc, by talented local artists! The owners and staff were super-friendly. They pointed out a beach close by where we could walk our dog and stretch our legs before continuing on our trip. Thanks, Debbie and Janice!More

Coffees, teas, pastries and good choice of giftware especially ceramics. Great location in this village by the ocean. Easy access from Route 132. Just a short walk from the Auberge du Grand Fleuve. En francais and in English.

Be sure not to miss this little gem if you're near/in Metis-sur-mer. It is a lovely, friendly cafe that has a little something for everyone - great coffee, delicious pizzas, very fresh salads, and brownies to die for (ask for them to be heated up!)...There is a wide variety of wonderful things for sale in the shop, with everything from high-quality local artists' work to children's toys, local specialties, and beautiful jewellery. The service is friendly (and fast!), the environment feels fresh and inviting, and there is even a play corner with toys for children and a little library. Absolutely worth a visit!More

Café sur mer is a unique combination of cafe, gift shop, and art gallery. Unique doesn't really cover it. It is a welcoming, wonderful, friendly, bilingual spot to have a coffee break or lunch and browse the ever-changing stock of local crafts, jewelry, antiques, and...decorative objects. Some of the best crafts people on the south shore are featured. It is just down the hill from 132 by the sea. Can't recommend it highly enough!More
