16 hard mattresses with mosquito nets around on a dirty floor, one window and one ceiling lamp throughout the room. Must go through the family's large, messy living room and go upstairs, and use their dirty toilet and shower downstairs. The comfort area outside the...house, resembled a campsite. Nothing that created ambience or even well-being. I moved to a guesthouse two houses away which, however, had what I wanted.More
Just as we arrived, mama welcomed us warmly with her family and food she had made.
Her food was really good and the size of the servings was almost too big.
The matresses were okay and we slept pretty good, the price was accurate.
We...spent some time with her family and they‘re all super cute!
We‘d totally recommend her homestay and food!
Missing you, greetings from switzerland and a big kiss to little girl Mai

We came to Tad Lo later than expected and do not have a booking. So we were happy to find a bed at mamapaps, even if we were a bit sceptical to stay in such a big dorm. It was definitely worth it though. It's...not really a dorm but more like a big attic with several double mattresses that are all separated with big cloths and each has a mosquito net. It's more camp feeling than dorm. At night it cooled down a bit and we spent two quiet and relaxing nights. Mamapap was friendly and the atmosphere with the other travellers was really nice. People were actually talking to each other and not staring at their phones. Food was good and cheap. Also laundry service was perfect.
We definitely recommend this place if you're alright with a simple local standard. The shared bathroom is very basic used by all guests and the family so don't expect it to be super clean.
It was by far the cheapest stay we've had so far and we would definitely cone back.More
We came for dinner. The lady was very nice and invited us to the kitchen in order to explain her what we want to eat. When we came in we saw her children playing with a *dead RAT!!!*, they followed us with the rat in...to the kitchen and naturally put the dead rat in the fridge- pics below. We apologized and left immediately. We came because it was the only restaurant in Tad lo in TripAdvisor and the good reviews- the lady is really nice but our advise is to stay away.More
Really nice experience when you do the loop. We went here by scooter, after visiting coffee farmer Mr. Vieng and few waterfalls. When you arrive at the home of mamapap, you feel very welcome.
The accommodation is good and the people are very nice. Also...the food is tasty and really good size. The bed isn't that good, but think average asia bed. Especially for this price you can't say anything about it.
Overall: Nice experience for less money and good opportunitie to meet other peopleMore
During my stay at Tad Lo I came to eat at mama paps every day.
Her banana pancakes are huge, the fruit shakes are amazing, same with the fried rice and fried noodles.
Big plates - small kip, the key to every young travelers heart...;)
All the dishes are prepared freshly and done with the most important Ingredient: LOVE
Mama pap is an angel and makes you feel at home straight away. Kids run around and play, great smells and laughter come out of the kitchen, you feel like you’re in a big family.
She remembers every single customer, asks about their day with serious interest, and makes sure you’re doing good.
Free drinking water is provided as well.
When I left after two days she prayed for me and gave me a small bracelet that I’m still wearing several weeks later.
I can only say thank you for some of the greatest days on my trip that I began with banana pancakes and papaya-shakes at mama paps because a great day needs a even better start! :)
Looking forward to see you soon, I still think of you a lot!More
