Not a local hang out, but there's alcoholic drinks as well as coffee, breakfast food, fajitas, burritos, fries. A tad overpriced. There's a selection of chocolate bars and maps in the front. I like how a portion of the profits goes toward different community projects, such as a book mobile. The owners also run a great tourist agency, Tree Huggers,... More

Cafe Luz y Luna is a nice place to meet people. There are a lot of travelers but as wel locals who come for a beer or cofee. The atmosphere is nice and the locals who work in the cafe/restaurant try to give you the best service. Not only serving food, but as wel answering the questions you have, give... More

Really enjoyed listening to guitar music and singing by, firstly two Nicaraguans, and secondly, a Scottish guy who lives in Nicaragua. Lovely atmosphere. We ate the aubergine bake and the lentil dish. Both delicious and very reasonably priced.

Please don't go here the food is overpriced, it's awful, we had hummus??? It was flavourless mush, nachos that in reality was a small bowl of crisps and a beer, we complained but were greeted with a shrug of the shoulders, we carried on complaining just to be ignored, the food was rubbish the staff rubbish, in over 150 reviews... We’re so sorry to hear that you have expressed so literally, your alleged, poor “awful” food experience at Cafe Luz. Our vegetarian nachos dish is the most popular we have on the menu, alongside the original cajun fries, and it’s built of fresh corn chips, with a daily-made fresh tomato salsa with locally-made fresh mozzarella cheese our standard and delicious... The food was okay here but nothing more. The salad I had was prepared poorly enough and overdressed. The veggie option my wife had was more successful. All in all a mixed bag.

Cafe Luz Y Luna is a hopping place where locals and international travelers mingle for coffee in the afternoons and beer in the evening. I have not eaten there, but the coffee and beer is excellent. They even offer a local microbrew. The service is nice and even though so many of the visitors come from the local expat community,... More

The food is good and the place nice to have a drink. You will meet other tourists as it is just in front of a travel agency

I gave this café two opportunities. The first time it took 30 minutes for a 4oz hamburger. I bit into it and it was the consistency of a charcoal briquette and Pop Rocks. It immediately fell out my mouth and made a sound hitting my plate. I checked the rest of the burger and it was rock solid. It took... More

We enjoyed dinner here two nights while in Esteli and were very happy with our tours we did with Tree huggers which is affiliated with the Luna hostel and Cafe Luna. We did a mural tour with Wilder and also toured Miraflor with the company. Very reasonable prices for the restaurant and tours. Highly recommend both if you are going... More

I've been to Cafe Luz several times while in Esteli, and I'm guaranteed to keep going back. There are a number of reasonably priced vegetarian options, which are harder to come by in Esteli overall. Two recommendations I would have are the veggie burger and the hummus wrap!
