Another visit to Leigh Bistro for lunch with friends. This was their first visit as they are not locals but they were very impressed with the look of the restaurant and the quality of the food offered.
We all had the 3 courses and chose...different dishes and nobody was disappointed with any dish, they were all good portions and great produce.
Highly recommended and looking forward to our next visitMore
Went here on a Saturday stroll through Leigh High St and looked busy with a nice vibe . Decor was funky and seated inside quickly and not tucked into a corner when we dine as a couple like some places . Set menu was great...value with a great choice of dishes . Had a sardine starter and a lamb dinner was very tasty . Recommend highlyMore
Friendly staff but food was below average. Sea bass was tasteless no seasoning, vegetables just steamed and no imagination at all. Cheesecake was fresh according to the waitress but was distinctly frozen. Sticky toffee pudding dry and hardly any sauce. Shame because the restaurant is...lively and buzzing but food quality needs to be improved dramatically. Nearly £30 a head no alcohol and just mains plus desert. Little on the expensive side for a below par meal.More
I visited Leigh Bistro on Friday evening on a spare of the moment dinner. The lovely young girl Jessica fitted us in.
I skipped starters as i had heard about their STEAK...
Fillet steak cooked rare with some chips and peppercorn sauce. This is heaven...for me!!!!
Absolutely cooked to perfection. Just perfect. All washed down with a couple of drinks.
Did i mention the price ? Great value for money. One of the best steaks around at one of the best prices.More
It’s some years since I’ve been here. I wasn’t impressed on my last visit but friends keep mentioning this restaurant so I thought it deserved a re visit
The layout of the restaurant is very pleasing and when we arrived for our 7.30pm table it...was busy and buzzy - I suspect partly because there is a discount offer for pre 7pm dinners
The service is friendly, efficient and good.
The food is acceptable and probably on a par with most other local restaurants which sounds like a compliment but isn’t meant to be as I find the general level of food in local restaurants un remarkable - I suppose people get what they want - if they don’t have high standards restaurants won’t strife to meet these demands
My benchmark for local food is still set by the Bell at Horndon on the Hill.
Unfortunately this restaurant along with many others is not up to this standard at the moment but is certainly improved since I last visited
My starter was pigeon which I have had at the Bell many times. The portion was small verging on the mean but tasty. Compared with the Bell it lacked the extra flavours and attention to detail in presentation although it was a few pounds less expensive. My main course was a rib eye steak and again the portion size was small but tasty
Overall the restaurant is similar to most of its local competition - it is acceptable but not exceptional. People get what they demand but in terms of food as distinct from setting, service and ambiance the demands are not high. I suppose the best example of this locally is the boatyard. Fantastic location and settings but less than impressive food - a great wasted opportunity to make the town noteworthy in terms of restaurantsMore
