Visited here a couple of times last week and the service was friendly and efficient Views are great and if the weather is good enough to sit outside then it is wonderful to look over the estuary towards Wales. Even if the weather is no brilliant, then the pub is great inside and they welcome dogs in the bar area,... More

The boathouse is situated right on the bank of the Dee estuary with good views looking out to North Wales. The interior is well set out so tables aren't cheek by jowl. I didn't eat though the menu has some interesting choices such as hake and the food I saw coming out of the kitchen looked appetising. A reasonable selection... More

Cool location over looking the coast. Comfy feeling inside with loads of windows to enjoy the view. There is a restaurant or a bar area. A very difficult menu to decide from! I had venison scotch eggs which were different and very good. Then had a fish pie. Amazing portions. A classic pub restaurant as well. Loved it. There is... More

Lunch for 4 today was very nice. The staff were very good, I suppose one minor criticism, service was a little slow, but as we were in no hurry it did not impact our enjoyment. The food was good, plentiful and tasty and we all enjoyed the meal. I had smoked haddock and this was excellent.

The Boathouse has long been on our favourites list but since the change of ownership the food quality has deteriorated. We always go for the steak; it used to be delicious but now and the last time we visited, the steaks have been tough. Nice taste but tough. Prices have increased slightly too. Admittedly we now get more chips served... More

Dear Customer, Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback, since the change of ownership in 2015 we have amended the menus slightly, but the quality of our food and the standard of service we aim to provide has stayed the same, saying that however we appear to have fallen short of those standards during your recent... We visited the boathouse for Sunday lunch with the family and left slightly disappointed. We found that the roast dinners were not worth the price they were being charged at as the meat was chewy, the gravy watery and not enough of it, and not enough vegetables between 3 of us. Quite small portions considering it cost £13. We also... More

Dear Customer Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback, we do have standardised portions and i do apologise that you feel they were too small, saying this however your meal shouldn't have been served with watery gravy or chewy meat, if possible i would like to discuss this further with you, could you give me a... Lovely place to eat. The staff were extremely helpful and managed to add another 4 people last minute to our booking. Being pregnant I struggled to eat once my food arrived. I asked a staff member if I could take it home. After speaking to the chef she told me that because my meal contained prawns it couldn't be reheated.... More

Visited after a drive around the Wirral. We began with pate and calamari and followed it with fish, chips and mushy peas, scampi and chips and a gorgeous hake fillet on a bed of squid ink linguine. Desserts would have been a step too far after the delicious starters and mains. Portions were large and the rooms had an olde... More

The boathouse used to be fabulous but something has seriously changed today was no exception, we thought we'd give it another try sadly no improvement. Ordered drinks and food 🥘 then was told food would be 45 mins the place was half empty...... we left . Sorry won't be going again
