This restaurant is on the outskirts of Lavardac, situated in an old fortified mill. We ate wonderful food (large prawns in whisky, sweetbreads with lobster, fillet steak in a perfect sauce, and the amazing ‘after eight cigare’ desert) all with attentive and informative service. Excellent value. We ate again here for lunch 2 days later and had a similarly excellent... More

On a Nicols rental boat from Buzet, we tied up for the night at Lavardac. Took a quiet road over to Roman bridge and crossed to this romantic site in old mill. We were a bit early, so restaurant personell set up an outdoor table and produced "amusee buche" and a wonderful Gascon Sauvignon blanc wine. Then we moved into... More

We spent a week in Barbaste, exploring the Lot et Garonne and we wouldn't have missed eating in Henry IV's favorite place in the Gascon Land, the Moulin of Barbaste! Of course, during his reign (he died in 1610) the Moulin was just a fortified water mill, some 5 km away from the castle he spend his youth in, Nerac.... More

A very special meal in great setting, we have dined here a few times now and our impressed every time we go, nice set menus and a la carte dining, service is second to none. It's a must go every time we visit the region. Highly recommended, will certainly return when we are next in the area.

The location in the fortified mill and the decor of the restaurant is just outstanding. We had even arranged our one week boating itinerary to satisfy the limited three day opening schedule. We were really disappointed. The main courses of fish and pigeon were just tasteless. Maybe we just had bad choices. Fine dining ambience but the food certainly wasn't... More

I asked if we could go somewhere like cafe rene in alo alo this wasn't it, but what a great location, like sat in a cave,a really good cave, the menu was well laid out with various price ranges, our food was beautifully presented, and at first didn't look enough to feed a chunky man but by the time the... We were here with a group of colleagues and had a table in the 'subterrenean' part of the restaurant. The location of the restaurant is very nice , close to the river and the castle ; should be very nice in summer. But our evening was a rather fresh one in middle of May. The menu was very nice with... More

You enter into a tunnelled out set of rooms. The cliff faces are still party exposed. But it is still light and bright. Food is beautifully presented. They feed you a number of différent snacks while waiting to be served. All good. The exciting desserts finished off a lovely evening. For this area of France it is not cheap. But... More

Le Moulin is in a lovely location beside the River Gélise. We were there in April when the terrace (which looked well situated) wasn't open, so ate inside. We chose a window table in the upper part of the restaurant: the lower part is actually subterranean but looks really inviting and was very popular with fellow diners. Service was excellent... More
