About
The Railway Arms is a country pub built in 1867. We moved into the pub in August 2017 and promptly closed it for renovations, which included a new roof and windows, all of which mirror what was originally there. We re-opened the pub in November 2017, and a fully refurbished kitchen followed in January 2018 with a fully qualified chef in situ. The Railway Arms has a naturally warm feel to it and we serve traditional locally sourced food and ales in a relaxed, warm and friendly atmosphere.

Most of my Sundays are spent working so opportunities to have a lunch out,The Railway was highly recommended by many of our friends and wow did It ever live up to our expectations, in fact from the moment we walked through the door and sampled the wonderful ambiance, saw the smiles on peoples faces, our expectations were completely exceeded. The hosts were welcoming, the staff friendly and attentive, and the lunch?????.................I am lost for words, all I will say is that we had Sunday dinner and it was bloomin delicious!

Once again our family chose our favourite pub for Sunday lunch.
There is no better place to go on a Sunday if you want to enjoy a freshly cooked and exceptionally well prepared meal.
John the chef excels in the variety of choices on the menu, if you go for our favourite (Sunday roast) you'll have an array of vegetables to include, red cabbage, leeks, creamed Swede, roasted parsnips and carrots, cabbage and bacon, cauliflower cheese.
I tend to go for the pork as you always get a helping of crackling 🌝 the rest of the family went for the roast beef.
Cliff and Anne Marie are perfect hosts always making you feel very welcome.
Well done guy's, we will be back!

Ate tonight on the "eat out to help out" scheme. Starters, mushrooms, lamb and Japanese gyoza were amazing! Mains, ham egg and chips and 2 pork with black pudding mash were faultless. 2 puddings, cheesecake and lemon tart were also perfect. Really good service and friendly staff. We will be back.

I booked a table based solely on the reviews and we weren't disappointed. The staff were welcoming and the chef came out to check everyone was happy with their food. His butternut squash ravioli was divine and the rest of the food surpassed expectations. A shame we were only visiting the area so sre unlikely to return.

We eat here regularly and the service is always great (they are very accommodating) and the food is fantastic quality. Over lockdown they have offered a takeout service which we have taken advantage of. Still amazing taste and quality, great size portions and nothing left on our plates! Cannot recommend enough!

Called in on the way back to our hotel to enquire about a table and look at the menu and we were initially sold by the genuine welcome we were greeted by as we walked thru the door. We booked and returned a couple of hours later and we were delighted with both the quality of the food and the engagement of the owners. Great pub which I'm sure will go from strength to strength. We will be back on our next visit to the area.

This place is lovely, the staff were nice and friendly and cute dog, We went for Sunday lunch, the starters were lovely, but I asked for a GF chicken dinner, what I got for ÂŁ13.95 was a small pice of chicken but nicely cooked, 2 roast potatoes and 2 GF Yorkshire puds, I was not able to have the stuffing or pigs in blankets as not GF, yet the meal is advertised as GF, but we still had to pay the full price, they had cauliflower cheese on so I put 2 spoonfuls on my plate only to be told by staff that this was not in fact GF, my meal then had to go back to kitchen and I had a fresh meal, if they had told me upfront I would not have put it on my plate. When it came to desert there was only the cheese board advertised as Gf, luckily I like cheese. So not an overall success, but the place is nice as were the staff.

This is one of those reviews which will look like it has been written by a member of staff, but I can promise you it hasn’t ! We just had the best roast beef Sunday lunch at this lovely pub - huge portions of fresh, beautifully cooked ingredients, served quickly by the friendliest staff I have met in a long time. Even the Chef came out to check we had enjoyed it. No less than 7 different types of vegetable and extra gravy to boot. Beautiful setting and great value for money too. Would not hesitate to recommend wholeheartedly.

Had the best Sunday lunch I’ve had in a pub for a very long time (not including lockdowns). Absolutely faultless. Excellent portion sizes at very reasonable prices and a superb collection of veg served with it. My daughter was made up with the cauliflower cheese which we normally pay extra for at other places but which was included here. I’ve paid more for a lot less at other places in the past. Desserts were very good too. Will certainly be back

My husband booked a last minute weekend away at one of our favourite places in Norfolk only to find the restaurant we hoped to visit was closed, After getting over the initial shock we managed to book The Railway Arms and what a delight it was. As soon as we walked through the door we were met with a very welcoming landlord and lady and we felt at home straight away. The waiting staff were very friendly and so helpful, accommodating with some of my questions and very efficient. The food was amazing, quite plentiful and so yummy but what we liked so much was the chef came out to visit his guests and asked if his food was to our liking. It is so satisfying to know that in this day and age there are establishments that are first of all surviving, but obviously thriving with doing everything right...in our opinion. I always say that things happen how they should, and our initial disappointment resulted in us finding another one of Norfolk's hidden treasurers, just as well as we managed to book two nights and experience this delight all over again. Our only disappointment being we couldn't experience their legendary Sunday Lunch .....fully booked for 3 weeks, word must be getting around. Keep up all the good work and we look forward to when we can return.

We were staying in the area for a for days and wanted to try somewhere new. We were able to book an outside table for 2 of us and our dogs for Sunday lunch. We were telephoned the day before to say that the weather was looking terrible and that would be able to have this as a takeaway, which we were fine with. On the day, it was actually much better weather than expected so we were able to eat outside in the sun, which was a bonus. I had road beef and my husband roast pork both of which came with the most enormous yorkshire puddings and a fantastic selection of six different types of the most delicious and beautifully cooked veg. There was nothing about either meal that i would have changed - it was absolutely delicious. The service was very friendly and the call the day before was just that little bit of extra customer service that shows the owners are going the extra mile. Theyve spent and are spending a lot of money here and are not skimping on the quality of everything. If youre looking for menus or latest photos, use the Facebook page rather than the website as thats being upgraded too.

We chose this place for our evening meal based on other Trip advisor reviews (thanks) and we were not disappointed.
Lovely welcoming staff, good Covid precautions, wide range of drinks available.
Daisy the pub dog (lovely little terrier) is there to welcome dog lovers but also keeps away for anyone less keen on dogs
We had a very tasty ham egg and chips and a truly superb lamb ragu pasta dish, great value for meat eaters, and veggie options also available
Very good traditional pub layout with modern food and drink offerings, shame we don't live closer

we organised a 90th birthday party at the Railway Arms, the venue (a dining area extension) was superb, our party of 16 were all seated at the same table, in this light and airy room. plenty of space for everyone. pre-party we had great communications with the management, nothing was too much trouble, our menu selections were starters & mains, and with the pubs enthusiastic permission we supplied the cake for the sweet. the service was faultless, the food, without exception was excellent.
i've just checked the bill, and , with 6 bottles of wine the price per head came to a very impressive ÂŁ28 !!!
amazing value and we were told we could have the room until 5.30pm (having arrived at mid day) wow! it doesn't get better than that.

When my wife told me she had booked us a meal at the Railway arms I was a bit apprehensive having remembered this as a run down place about 10 years ago. What a surprise when we arrived to see a totally transformed pub, light bright and airy smart gardens, good atmosphere and very friendly staff. The food was excellent decent portions and at reasonable prices. It was also nice to see the chef walking around asking if customers were happy with the food which i thought was a nice touch. We will defiantly return and recommend to friends.

We visited for lunch on Sunday and what a find! Amazing quality and quantity of food and fantastic service. My daughter is a fussy eater and didn’t want anything from the menu so the chef offered to make a special meal of her choice. We had a wonderful lunch and will certainly be returning.
