We enjoyed a great takeaway from the Kings Head, good to see that with all the recent pub & restaurant closures that this local restaurant has improvised & is offering a takeaway service.
Food was lovely, warm & well packed.
Hats off to the guy who runs the Kings Head, I hope things get back to some normality for you soon. He’s lost loads of bookings so help him out & enjoy a delicious takeaway.

We’ve just returned from three days at The Kings Head having had a fabulous break and excellent service throughout our stay. We were in room 12 across car park not in main building but a lovely modern recently decorated room, with en-suite, good towels and robes etc.
We had our first evening meal and subsequently decided to use the restaurant for all three nights, an easy choice and not deterred by what was a limited menu due to limitations of coronavirus pandemic. In this respect high levels of cleanliness, masks and hand sanitation all required and observed.
The staff were all courteous and welcoming, the manager at breakfast and Justine whilst serving the meals in the evening and engaging in conversation over the three days. We will certainly return when next visiting Norfolk, and look forward to enjoying a pint of Ghost Ship and a Prosecco or two at this lovely hotel. Lawrence and Suzanne. Hertfordshire

This country pub is situated very well for visiting both National Trust and English Heritage properties. It’s also not far from the beautiful Norfolk beaches. I would say this is not a cheap place to stay but what I would say it more than stands up to many four or even five star hotels. Ok, no liveried footman to carry your bags, however a very nice young man helped with out luggage
The room. We were given spoons which had been fashioned as key fobs, there’s no way you could lose your keys. When the door to my room opened I whistled in surprise. This room was huge. It had been a bedroom in times when a fireplace was needed and this nice feature had been retained. There was a six foot bed which didn’t look big at all in this room, along with two velvet fireside chairs, a wardrobe, bedside tables a desk and chair. As I said, a huge room. There was a newly refurbished en-suite which boasted a walk-in shower basin and loo. At this point I must mention it was super clean. I could not find fault with anything. Of course the main thing when staying anywhere is 'how did one sleep?'. The answer, like a log! There were soft or firmer pillows to choose from and an almost silent fan kept the room cool.
The food. We stayed on the hottest day of the year so only wanted something light. We both chose the crab salad. The salad was perfectly dressed with new potatoes and a dressed crab in its shell. Perfect for a hot day.
The manager was friendly and his team simply couldn’t do enough for us.
You might has guessed, I was very impressed with this venue and wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again.

Came for a roast one small pot of veg for 5 people, no vegetarian options, food like warm, turkey undercooked glasses dirty, hair in food, tiny portions. Totally embarrassed to have brought a friend to eat here. Give a little get a little, so maybe give people the food they pay for and they would come back.

My review is a copy of the email sent to the management and pasted below to which I still have not had a reply:
Hi
please ensure the management are shown this email
My wife and I had a reservation in your restaurant at 19:30 Tuesday 25 August 2020
We arrived 5 minutes before our reservation and were surprised at the lack of social distancing. Staff were in close proximity to each other, touching each other and ignoring the one way system. Members of the public were loitering at the bar and standing very close to each other and also ignoring the one way system.
We sat down in the ‘waiting area’ and our drinks were served to us.
Shortly after our arrival another couple with a 19:30 booking arrived.
After about 10 minutes a couple vacated a table and the couple who arrived after us were seated.
I then asked for menus so that we could choose our food.
At 19:50-19:55 8 further customers arrived - a party of 4 and 2 parties of 2 with 20;00 reservations
I asked when we would be seated and was assured we hadn’t been forgotten
However, at 20:10 the 2 parties of 2 with 20:00 reservations were seated
It was obvious we had been forgotten
At this point I left money on the bar to pay for our drinks and we walked out
The poor customer service spoilt what we hoped would be an enjoyable meal out and with no time to eat at another similar restaurant. I fact we ended up at MacDonaklds
I would appreciate hearing from you regarding this experience

After reading reviews all I can say is there must have been a different chef on duty. I had fish n chips, chips were not cooked so left them.Fish was tasteless, again didn’t eat much of it. Would have thought if a meal had not been touched they might ask, but no. Complete waste of money.

We stopped for Sunday lunch but due to restrictions on eating outside (we assume) a traditional Sunday Roast was not on the menu. We had Scampi and chips and burger and chips which were good and at a reasonable price. Staff worked really hard and service was prompt.

An excellent lunch for our walking group of 16 people at the King's Head. From the advance arrangements to the delivery of the food, the hotel staff were really helpful and well organised. There was a good menu choice, the food arrived freshly prepared and was very well received by our group. We ate in relaxing surroundings in a lovely room, what more could one ask after a long walk around North Elmham!

Went with my family on Sunday.
Didn't bother with starters although they did look very tempting!
The roast came out and our granddaughters eyes popped out of their heads at the size of the Yorkshire puddings.
Everything was perfect and we were all agreed on that.

Birthday lunch - majority of places are closed on a Monday for lunch. 2 courses for £15 which we all thought was very good value for money. Food was nice, clean restaurant. The lady serving recognised it was for a birthday lunch and organised the chef to write 'Happy Birthday' on the dessert for our nan which was simply a lovely gesture. Overall very happy & will be visiting again 😊

Walked in for lunch on a Saturday. The young person (unsure of pronouns) serving at the bar was kind and efficient. There were very few vegan options on the menu and they were all pretty pricey. I opted for the vegan burger at £16, which was described as a mushroom and red pepper burger. I assumed this would be a patty but it was literally two mushrooms and two slices of roasted red pepper in a bun with some melted vegan cheese (which wasn’t listed on the menu and I would’ve opted not to have if given the option). I only had a couple of bites of the not-burger, so essentially ended up paying £16 for a side of chips. Could’ve done with a bit of salad. A disappointing meal and this pub needs to join the 21st century when it comes to plant-based menu items.

We are staying in Elmham on a trip back home for me and went here for a meal last night. My Mrs had a steak, and says it’s the best cooked one she’s had in ages, didn’t even need a steak knife. Both our starters were superb and my main of a haloumi burger was lovely. They do great pint of local ale too, the Norfolk Wherry by Woodfordes.
We will be booking there again before head back

We popped in rather late on a Sunday hoping for some food and our wishes were met even though the time was almost passed for serving.
Thankyou to the staff for that!
Food and service was lovely, as it was hot we didn’t fancy a full on roast dinner so settled for ciabatta rolls with roast beef, salad and chips, it was absolutely delicious! The rolls were bursting with tender beef! Not just a single slice as some places serve.
The beer garden is extremely spacious with a play area for the children. Both shaded and sunny tables available too.
10/10 will definitely be returning.

Visited here on recommendation while staying at a local holiday cottage without a booking, and was not disappointed!
Not so many options for Veg/Vegan but what we did have was lovely fresh cooked food presented well.
The young staff are a credit to the establishment (except vaping behind the bar - it's not big, it's not clever!), managed by a very able manager who is constantly on the ball with what stage diners are in their meals.
Drinks options were plentiful - it's no wonder you have repeat business with hotel guests.
Thank you for making the end of my birthday so enjoyable!

To finish off my birthday weekend, we went for an impromptu meal at the king's head, we're quite local and have popped in for a pint or two but never eaten there. The ambiance is lovely, the staff are REALLY nice, friendly, efficient and happy and the menu looks lush.
So I ordered fish pie. My 'go to' choice on a pub menu and fancy myself a bit of a connoisseur, not all fish pies are the same!! This was sooooo good I wanted to go and rub myself up and down the chef's leg in order to portray my appreciation of the delight I experienced eating this dish. It was pretty, perfectly cooked, bang on balanced with the fish, sauce and potato, from first to last bite, a 🐟🐠10/10.
My partner had the Beef dish, so good he licked the plate.
Go there, but book a table, ya don't wonna miss out!
