About
The Kings Arms is a friendly family-run 17th Century coaching inn situated in Reepham’s historic Market Place. The atmospheric interior, dating back to 1667, creates a warm welcome with open fires, polished oak floors, Norfolk brick walls and ancient beams running over three levels. The bar has a great selection of lagers, wines, spirits and six real ales as acknowledged by CAMRA’s Good Beer Guide since 1995. The extensive menu offers home cooked starters, mains and desserts, with specials available daily. All produce is sourced locally wherever possible. Summer jazz in the floral courtyard and winter quizzes add to its civilized atmosphere with cheerful staff who are not averse to a bit of banter. Children and dogs with well behaved owners are welcome.

As soon as you walk into this splendid pub, you know you’re onto a good thing. The whole place oozes charm, exposed brickwork and open fires and both nights we were there we were greeted by very friendly and amusing locals. There is a wide selection of beers: Traditional local cask ales, some delicious bottled craft beer from Mr Winter’s brewery in Norwich, (and various lagers if you’re into that sort of thing). They also stock an incredible range of gins, the very charming landlady spent a lot of time with us going through all the different flavours of the local Norfolk brands. We sampled a fair few, and they were delicious! The dinners were excellent. The menu is varied, catering to all tastes and very reasonably priced. All the dishes were perfectly prepared, very tasty and well portioned, and always washed down with the moreish Norfolk Winbirri wine. All the staff we met were great, in particular a big shout-out and thank you to Daisy and Tom! Will definitely revisit if in the area again

Went to 'The Kinger' for lunch today with my two daughters. Staff warm, friendly and welcoming as they always are. Table service only and all staff wore masks and tables were wiped down so felt Covid safe. I genuinely do not know why previously reviewers are moaning about the portion sizes. We ordered seafood linguine, lasagna and sirloin steak. Not the cheapest but I thought reasonably priced for the quality and quantity. The food was really, really tasty and the portions were more than ample unless you have an unhealthy relationship with food. We all left some on our plates. The couple on the adjacent table ordered the fish and chips which were precariously piled on their plates. Maybe the owners have taken heed of the previous reviews complaining about small portions - which, after all, is surely the point of the reviewing system ? As with all our local pubs in these uncertain times - Use It Or Loose It ! I'll be back !

Staying in Reepham we elected to eat here as no meals were served at the place we were staying in. This turned out to be a blessing as eating at the Kings Arms turned out to be one of the highlights of our mini break. We were welcomed at the door and shown through what initially felt like a maze of rooms to one at the back. We had phoned ahead and pre booked , and it was lucky we had as they seemed busy. As I mentioned staff were very friendly and although our main course took a while to arrive, this was due to what my husband had ordered as it took a while to cook, and they did apologise for the wait. We didnt mind as at least this meant the food wasnt pre cooked. The food was worth waiting for however as it was sublime. I had sea bass with wilted greens and smashed potatoes. Everything on my plate was seasoned and cooked exactly how it should be and it all was delicious. Husband had pork and he said it too was wonderful, melting in the mouth, and his dauphinous potatoes were the best he, and I, have tasted in a long while. All in all it was an wonderful meal and experience and if we stay in the area again we would definitley choose to visit again. Unfortunately this time we were staying Monday and Tuesday night and they are shut Mondays so we only ate there the once. A last point for these times, the staff and pub were very covid aware and it felt safe without spoiling the experience.

Where do I start? We booked a table for 1:15 and didn't receive our food until 3:00. When it did eventually arrive, the food was awful. It ranged from cold to lukewarm. Two roast potatoes and a teaspoonful of peas and leeks. We were told we couldn't have cauliflower cheese with a turkey dinner, even though it clearly said it was included in the menu. I specifically asked for no sprouts, was told that I couldn't replace them with anything else, and then promptly given a plate that was half made up of sprouts and little else. When I pointed this out to the unfriendly waitress, she growled, "Well, take them off your plate then if you don't like it!" My one tiny pig in a blanket was so cold that it tasted like it had been taken straight out of the fridge and put on my plate. My turkey, what little there was, was perfectly round with a rind of fat around it. I've never seen a round, fat turkey before. It wasn't fresh, and it was undoubtedly a poorly cooked Bernard Matthews turkey roll. What little food there was on the plate was placed in the middle with a defrosted and lightly cooked Aunt Bessie yorkshire pudding placed on top. It looked like some sort of bird bath, which is surprisingly appropriate considering there wasn't enough food on the plate to fill my mum's budgie up. Add to this the glass of water with a tiny dash of sodastream syrup masquerading as a glass of pepsi, the extortionate prices, the poor service and the downright rude attitude of the miserable waitress and the moody owner and you have an experience that I wouldn't wish on anybody except my ex wife. Avoid like the plague and go to McDonalds instead. The food and service is of a much higher standard there.

Thank you for your review. I find this very interesting. 1. Half of your party were late. Your table was booked at 1.15. However at the time you insisted it was booked at 1 and made a big deal! Therefore your order was taken at 1.36 as soon as we could fit you in. You were informed that we had a large party of 8 in after you placed your starter order and were told that there would be a wait. You received your mains at 3 but enjoyed your starters well beforehand! Had you have been on time you would have been served promptly - I hope you don’t treat your dentist the same way! 2. Cauliflower cheese was an oversight for which we apologise and did so at the time. 3. My waitress offered to remove the food as you didn’t like it and made a big fuss about some Brussel sprouts being on your plate like a 4 year old. However you all managed to polish it off completely and we didn’t charge you for your 4 main courses. 4. This is my home that I invite you into and I expect you to respect my staff and be polite. However you were abrupt and rude to my staff. I wouldn’t do that in your home! 5. According to my staff you had long faces before you even ordered your food. All I can say is look out for these guys restaurant owners as they are after crafty free meals. 6. Meat is locally sourced and Yorkshire’s homemade. Do your homework properly. Ps the other 70 customers had a wonderful meal. They were on time!!! A word of advice. Go out for lunch on time, with a smile on your face. Relax and enjoy - that’s what eating out is all about! Leave the long faces behind or stay at home!

It seems that Lynette, whether she be Owner or Manager of this place spends a lot of her time replying to customer reviews, whether they be good or bad. She needs to spend a bit more time organising her staff and looking for a new Chef or Cook. My wife and I visited recently whilst walking in Norfolk, on a Tuesday evening when there about 6 people eating or waiting for food. It took excatly 1 hour from ordering two main courses for it to appear on the table. Service - lousy! The Food. My wife ordered Scampi/Chips/Peas. The chips were the biggest, brownest chips ever seen (not very nice or presentable) and the Peas were dry and bullet-like. I ordered a Chicken Caeser Salad Large, dry chunks of chicken, a tasteless Ceasar dressing and single Lettuce leaves. with the lower stalks left in place. Not shredded and no sign of a Tomato or Cucumber, topped with 3 slices of bacon and a small bowl of Fries. Chicken Ceasar Salad does not have, or require, Bacon or Fries as an addition. As a result, they did not get a Dessert order or even Coffee. The prices, also were not your average pub prices, but on the high side. The pint of "Ghost Ship" was the only saving grace. Not recommended.

We were staying at the Dial hotel across the square from Kings Arms and decide to grab a takeaway (as the hotel restaurant was closed). After a quick phone order, the food was ready within 20 mins (chicken burger, lasagne). Lasagne was a really good portion and was very tasty. Everything was nicely packaged as a takeaway. Even more than food, the service was great. They recommended a good range of local beers which I tried and were really good. Also, as we didn't have any cutlery with us or the hotel (as the kitchen was closed), they provided us with real silverware and just ask us to return it next day. No hassle, very friendly. Even when I returned it the next morning, they were very friendly. Would return again next time I am at Reepham.

I really don’t know what’s happened to the food at this lovely pub. New chef perhaps? We’ve never had anything but good quality food here, I’ve given glowing 5* reviews in the past. But the last meal we had was terrible. Chicken pie was completely dry, no sauce, little filling. The pork belly had fat that wasn’t rendered and no vegetables to cut through the richness of the pork. Puddings were fine but very small and expensive for what was served. Staff were lovely as always. Very disappointing.

Not one for leaving negative reviews but I felt it was important to warn people of this place. The atmosphere is great and the staff are really friendly, it’s a nice pub so visit if you want a drink, however avoid eating here at all costs, just save yourself some money and frustration and eat somewhere else, the food is extortionate and the portions are puny, Beef roast for £17.95! This would be acceptable if there were more than 3 cold soggy potatoes and a couple of slices of beef in gravy. The “greens” amounted to a spoonful of overcooked frozen peas hidden under a cold soggy Yorkshire pudding no exaggeration.. a friend ordered the vegetarian option and left the establishment hungry as it was no bigger than a starter! This place needs to adjust the food and prices accordingly as it’s pricing is similar to top end restaurants but the quality of the food is closer to a school dinner.

Wow! This review is extremely surprising! Our roasts are exceptional and the vegetarian Mediterranean roast is outstanding and full of flavour. You may need to do a little research on how food is priced. Once you have done this you will understand why the beef is now ÂŁ17.95. Our Yorkshire puddings are not cold or soggy! I am extremely disappointed that you did not raise this issue at the time. All of our customers are meal checked and no complaints were raised? However having said that we would welcome you back and your roast is on the house!

Although food is tasty and well presented, found portions too small , (fish and chips was fish and about 10 chips) plus more expensive than we last visited. Not value for money. Service good , but we will have to save up for the next visit. don't mind paying for decent food but want to leave with a full tummy.

Thank you for your review. All customers are checked during their meal to see if they are satisfied and again afterwards. It is very important to us to know if this procedure was followed as this is the time to voice any concerns that you may have. We serve two portions of fish and chips, a large and a small. Each dish is costed out as per standard practice. We source the best local produce available. Prices have soured and so to have staff costs. This is a very difficult time for the hospitality sector but we are striving to do our very best. We have barely traded in the last 12 months and need to keep our head above water. We offer other substantial dishes to fill tummy’s. Next time you are in please ask a member of waiting staff which is the most filling dish and we will be more than happy to assist. Thank you so much for coming in and supporting us. We hope to see you again soon.

Our first meal since the pubs reopening and we were not disappointed. On arrival we had a warm welcome with all covid procedures followed well. We were seated outside with our lively Labrador and were given blankets for warmth. The selection of ales and gins were superb with a vast array to choose from. After the temperature dropped the landlord went out of his way to provide us with indoor seating in a small quiet corner so that we could settle our dog. This put us at ease and we felt extremely welcomed. The food was delicious with large portions and bursts of flavour. The menu is well thought out and caters for all. It was a brilliant evening - thank you very much!

We went here three times. Easy to park outside.Pleasant welcoming knowledgeable staff. We wiled away some time chatting to one of the staff about local wildlife and so on. Attentive staff make such a difference. There was no waiting around hoping to attract someone's attention.Staff noticed where you were with your meal and drinks and unobtrusively helped the meal to go well. The food was tasty and filling. The battered cod and chips was amazing. The halibut was excellent. Portions sizes were good and there was one side order of note-the halloumi chips was particularly yummy.Having not eaten out for ages we were concerned about resuming this activity. Hand sanitiser was available at the door. Mask wearing was in evidence and contact tracing elements were in place. Hope to visit again on our future trips to Norfolk

We booked for meal, the parking can be a bit awkward but after parking up on seeing the sign outside the entrance 'Sorry Full' it was an encouraging start. With table service in place the staff were welcoming, the drink delivered efficiently, the menu certainly offering a good choice. The food arrived piping hot, presented nicely and was worth the (short) wait. Book before you go though.

Went in for drinks with friends and waited over 10 minutes to get served. Mark, LANDLORD, came behind the bar several times and didn’t even acknowledge we were there, carrying on with “other duties”. Duties that were obviously more important than serving customers! When he did eventually decide that he would serve us we challenged him about waiting and zero acknowledgement. Mark (LANDLORD) then went into a strop and told us all to “F*%# Off out my pub”. In the current economic environment, when cost of living is increasing, energy prices going through the roof, and interest rates on the increase, I would have thought that publicans would be happy to have customers standing at the bar wanting to spend money. I do believe that the way to run a successful business is not to alienate local customers and to be engaging - not defensive and telling customers to get out of their establishment. There are a couple of other really good pubs in Reepham who will deliver great customer service, good food, and who will welcome you in - please go and find them! MARK - as the landlord you need to learn about customer service. A smile and acknowledgement goes a long way. Based on the demeanour shown, and similar feedback from many other locals, I’m not sure being a publican is the best career choice for you. Good luck, and perhaps customer service training would be a starter in helping you with both your challenges and chosen career.

You were acknowledged as soon as you arrived as are all of our customers by a member of bar staff. You were told "I won't be a minute I am just serving another customer and I will be with you". Mark was taking a booking from a customer at the time. When my member of staff took asked you what you would like you said " A pint of Guinness but obviously it is more f*****g important to be writing in the diary. Mark also apologised to you and explained that we are short staffed and very busy. We were short staffed and on top of that my mother had just died. I was unavailable.

We loved the Battered Smoked Tofu with Asian Salad and Beetroot & Tahini Chickpea Falafels to start (we shared these between us). For mains we both enjoyed the Breaded Brie Roasted Vegetable and Red Onion Marmalade Burger with Chips. The stickly toffee pudding desert was lovely but too big (I never thought I would find myself saying that!) and I think next time one of us will just order ice cream and we’ll split the actual pudding between us. The restaurant area with all its oak beams and character is a pleasure to be in and we were served by the same person as last time we visited which gave the whole experience a lovely personal touch. It is such a treat to be able to take our two (well behaved of course) dogs with us to eat in such a lovely restaurant – thank you. This was our second visit, and we will definitely be back again when we are in the area.

Found this lovely pub after doing a local walk on holiday. What a super find. The pub is an unspoilt 17th century building. The landlord is very welcoming.. waiting staff are very friendly and the French chef's food is made from local fresh ingredients. A tasty lunch! We will definitely return when we are back in the area.
