Great atmosphere, delicious food, attentive staff and reasonable pricing. Like the rest of Mahab, Moonrakers is laid back and relaxed. The town is popular with European tourists, so while the menu has lots of Indian food, it also has a few Euro/American options. And of course, lots of seafood. We tried Chicken Tikka Masala and BBQ Chicken. Both were tasty... More

During my two weeks-stay in India, this restaurant serves for sure incredibly spicy food! Fish and food in general is very fresh but be sure in advance that it's clear how chilly your food should be! Because by default everything is highly spicy there. The risk is that you won't enjoy the meal as you should!

One of the famous restaurants in Mahabalipuram for seafood varieties. We went for dinner at moonrakers after spending some time at shore temple. Tried some of the sea food specialities over there. Squid.. Prawns.. fish curry.. Squid and prawns tasted good but felt tike they were using the same masala for whatever fried items they make which just stopped the... More

Moonrakers was recommended by people i'd met so decided to give it a try. The service was efficient and the calamari curry i went for was great. The food was priced quite highly for an Indian eatery and was more like paying for a lunch in Europe. When travelling on a budget it might not be the most suitable place... More

Moonrackers was recommended to me by a local, and it was worth it. The service was efficient and fast, though they talked us into choosing specialities of the day, pretending not to understand, that we asked for a menu (the person with whome was there was fro India , but in Tamil Nadu they reject the idea that Hindi rather... Not the best food in town - however service & atmosphere is friendly - overpriced for long term travelers - however suitable for those just getting used to India & thinking in European prices

Worst experience ever I had in Indian restaurant. I am a solo traveller and activist. Read good remarks about this restaurant, so in my visit to Mahabalipuram decided to dine there 2 days back. I ordering food the waiter(a tall guy, didn't say his name) started whistling and singing loudly standing in front of my table.I was extremely uncomfortable by... More

The waiter brings you the fresh catch on a platter and you get to choose your food. Fine, but the catch is in the rate which is a tad expensive, especially if you go as a big group. A fried fish piece costs Rs.500/-. The prawns fry and the fish curry with rice were very good. The rasam was a... More

This restaurant gained more popularity after a famous tamil movie "Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaya" scenes were shot here. Food was way too costly. Pepper Chicken 300+ rs. Fried rice and noodles each 200+ rs. Imported beer 300rs. Not sure what is so great about this restaurant. Fish fry was good. Other than that very old looking, poorly maintained restaurant. Staffs were... More
