went for lunch yesterday, because we've heard good things about it, and it has been closed when we tried before. the menu looked quite expensive for lunch and we had the lunch dish of the day,(chicken & chickpeas stew) which was ok at 9.50 euro. it tasted ok, a bit boring, nothing special. it could have done with some fresh... Stopped in by chance after visiting praia do castejo and was glad I did. Restaurant tipico with nice atmosphere. Had the lunch special (9€) of chicken with chick peas. It was truly delicious and the portion was huge! Part of Slow food, which is always a good sign, run by women, which is another.

From the outside this was an unassuming looking restaurant. We took a recommendation from a guide book we had with us and di not regret the visit. The interior is much more interesting with wooden beams and a wood burning stove at the center of the restaurant. The food was exceptional. It was the period between Christmas and New Year... More

This is a small place with lots of authentic decorations. We came in right before a huge crowd and they made sure to get our stuff out first before so it wouldn't take so long. I had a wild boar stew and my wife had rabbit stew. They were both incredible. Highly recommend this place.

Ate there today for lunch. Very disappointed. Started off with stale bread. We then had prawn cataplana for our main. Tasteless sauce, prawns overcooked and not cleaned, and very tough pork. Also the worst queijo do figo ever. Very expensive for what it was.

I have to admit: I love octopus. I love it any way it is cooked if it is cooked properly. So I am very happy to live in Portogal where people know how to take care of octopus, but today... today I had the best octopus to date. It was soft, very well seasoned, smooth, balanced... Definitely, something to remember... More

Just had the most magnificent lunch at this exceptional slow food restaurant. A little off the beaten track but so worth a visit. We had Atlantic Shrimp Curry - fresh shrimp the likes I have never eaten before followed by lemon ginger and honey homemade ice cream. The house white by the glass was eminently drinkable! It mattered not a... More

It's the fourth time we come back for lunch or dinner at Eira, and there is always this special feeling. The place has some aura. It is not the most beautiful restaurant I have seen (there is no view, and one medium sized room) but it is decorated with taste, with warm colors, and there is something special that comes... More

Very normal, and that's praise! Pleasant service, thoroughly enjoyable fish cataplana, acceptable house wine, spacious quiet surroundings (rather on the edge of town) sensible prices -- about as good as you could expect for dining in the area

My GF searched this out as she wanted to try a Michelin restaurant and heard that this was one. Once there, we saw no indication that it was and quite frankly would have expected it to be busier if it was as there was only one other party of 3 eating with us at 1 pm in the afternoon. The... More
