This restaurant came recommended to me so when the opportunity came along for birthday dinners, I decided to make a reservation. I've eaten at the Italian Kitchen in Vernon and thought it was good. The service was okay. We ordered the Lake Country Salad which...was the highlight of the evening. While we were just finishing the salad, our server asked if we wanted our mains started? Seemed like a weird statement but we said yes. Just a few minutes later, our mains came to the table. I think they must have been sitting for awhile before being served - just lukewarm. I should have requested a new one but didn't. Also, my special, the lobster linguine was supposed to have mushrooms, asparagus and tomatoes. No tomatoes were present and I asked about it. The server said sorry and brought a small container with diced tomatoes, I was expecting full cherry tomatoes with flavour. My lobster dish was so dry (lobster was tough and chewy). My companion who has a hearty appetite only consumed about a third of her meal as her strogonoff gravy was like paste. Sadly, we won't be returning nor recommending this restaurant.More
Frequent visitors of the Italian Kitchen in Vernon. No complaints there but the Lake Country location really impressed us with the quality of the food and the service. Ryan was friendly, charming and accommodating. We were 20 minutes late for our reservation and the staff...was sill lovely and did not make us feel rushed. Highly recommend the capellini primavera!More
It took exactly 17 minutes for Zach (that name was on our bill) to greet us. I asked about whether or not the salad dressing had anchovies in it. He said it did. I answered that it said it was vegetarian on the menu so...I was glad I asked. Then he said maybe it was vegetarian. I asked him to double check and he turned around to do it before taking our drink order. 25 minutes into our visit, we got drinks and an affirmation that there were, in fact, no anchovies in it. Another 15 minutes before he took our food order, during which time he apologized to the table beside us for forgetting their crab cakes. He asked me how my salad was 10 minutes after I had eaten it (I was desperate for pepper). He forgot the butter my son asked for (another waitress brought it) and asked us how our entrees were when we were 2/3rds of the way through. We had to ask the other server for our bill. When we left, almost all of our dishes were still on the table. His other two tables, long devoid of guests, were also covered in dirty dishes. 4 servers, 7 tables full (inside and out), no excuse for his horrible service. For the food quality and total lack of authenticity (2 of the 3 vegetarian offerings feature feta cheese), the prices were also absurd.More
Reservations not required but recommended as it was pretty busy for a Tuesday evening. Food was excellent, service was mediocre as we weren’t offered dessert and just rudely handed the bill. Go for the food, not the service!

Hello Mark T,
We appreciate your taking the time to leave us this feedback, and we look forward to seeing you again soon!
My husband and I eat out quite often. We love trying every cuisine possible and enjoy true Italian food too. Out of every restaurant experience we have had - in Canada and overseas - this was the worst. We waited more than half an hour...to be served our drinks. There were two big tables of people (not a ‘fault’ but it definitely killed any sense of ambiance). The drinks were pricy - completely willing to pay for quality but my sangria tasted like juice watered down. Husband’s Whiskey Sour was terrible. The food was overpriced for the (lack of) quality. There were no fresh herbs used. Everything tasted like it had been pre-packaged and nothing was authentic. This was truly the most disappointing restaurant we have been to. Save your money and go to L’Isola Bella - their prices are cheaper (much more reflective of the quality which I personally think is better than Italian Kitchen). If you are looking to spend the same amount of money in the area, try a winery (Ex Nihilo or Grey Monk have good restaurants)... or even hop over to Kelowna to either the Manteo or Grand Okanagan... even the Keg is comparable in price but shines in comparison to quality! Two thumbs down 👎🏼
Truly disappointing and will not return.More

Went to this little gem last night for dinner. It was my husbands birthday and this was where he wanted to go. We all enjoyed pasta - jambalaya, pesto tortellini, feta linguine, seafood linguini and lasagna. All of us enjoyed our dinners as well as...great local wines. Ryan provided very good service and we will return.

Thank you again for taking the time to let us know how we did. We hope you have a great day!
Service was very poor. Waitress never came back to offer us a second drink. Our party of four did not receive supper until 1. 5 hours. after ordering. Food and drink prices were very expense for the quality and quality we all received. We ordered...Halibut which was tough, dry and room temperature. The vegetable consisted of a thin slice of carrot and a ting single spear of broccoli. Our friend was served dinner on a bread plate and they forgot the rice. The plate was certainly not worth $31.More
