About
OUR CUISINE Working behind the stove for more than 15 years, Sébastien joined us at the inn in 2000. At the ideal point between classic dishes and modern reinvention, the recipes at the Hotel Frankenbourg’s restaurant are a reflection of the natural environment around us and the strong family traditions the Buechers bring to the business. Everything here is in tune with the four seasons: from the wild herbs and Quercy lamb in Spring, to seasonal Summer fruits and berries, and of course Autumn with its mushrooms and wild game, not to mention the weeks leading up to the winter holidays… Here, we don’t tie ourselves down to a permanent menu. Every week, we introduce new ingredients and new recipes. Our restaurant serves cuisine that is innovative and respectful of the best traditions, and on a daily basis it is these principles that guide us.

What a wonderful recommendation from a friend of ours! Restaurant Frankenbourg is a clear 5/5 from us, not a shred of doubt in our minds.
First and foremost, you get a Michelin star restaurant for approximately 30% less as you would normally need to pay. It does make one wonder whether paying for the "brand" is worth all that money normally, but OK, this review is not about that :)
It needs to be said, the restaurant is in a bit of a tucked away location, so there's no easy way to get there with public transportation. On the other hand, what this enables is for example the restaurant having an entire side made entirely of glass, with a view of the beautiful green side of the valley Restaurant Frankenbourg is in. Simply beautiful with a feeling that you are sitting in the middle of nature.
This is further accentuated by the spacious rooftop room the restaurant is in, tastefully decorated with wooden elements and white tablecloth tables.
The food was just scrumptuous, with each set menu item full of harmonious, but special flavors (as you would expect in a Michelin restaurant). What was further special about it though is the sheer quality of the ingredients and the quantity. Restaurant Frankenbourg doesn't appear to save on either, resulting in us leaving perfectly full and with our taste buds delighted.
Special mention goes to the sous vide calamari... one of the best calamari experiences of our lives. Total surprise!
And service was just right. If you read our other reviews, you know we like the casual professional style, where the service is not too formal, but professional enough to answer questions and with just the right level of friendliness. Restaurant Frankenbourg's was exactly like that, with effort also being put in to communicate with us in English allthroughout (we have practically zero French language skills).
Simply awesome, wholeheartedly recommended 5/5!

Mixed opinion this time... setting as charming as ever, attentive staff as always, dishes beautifully presented, accompanied by a matching wine or beer, we enjoyed ourselves.
But there is one but, value for money! Charge a bottle of supposedly filtered tap water, certainly in a beautiful screen-printed bottle for €4, present a small piece of meat (admittedly pigeon is not big but still...) and have to share a mini tartlet between two people. a little far-fetched.
Compared to other gastronomic establishments that we frequent, we were disappointed by the lack of research and craziness in the dishes given the price…
It was a good re-experience despite everything!

Back to The Hostel of Frankenburg in La Vancelle which is the ideal setting for a gastronomic nugget where customer satisfaction is paramount. The smiling and considerate welcome allows from the first moments to grasp that the meal will be remarkable.
With our friends, we had an aperitif on the terrace, which was very pleasant at the end of July. An impressive cascade of appetizers in textures and tastes accompanied our drinks.
I then happily found the beautiful room of the restaurant. We were placed where I wanted to be. Thank you for taking my wishes into account.
We chose the “seasonal temptation” menu at 66 euros, with an excellent Value for Award. Finally, a starred chef who practices affordable Awards. Moreover, once again the room was full. It is no accident...
We let ourselves be transported for a culinary trip locavore with seasonal products including the first mirabelles. A Green Star also crowns the Hostel of Frankenburg.
Our meal on Monday, July 29th was as follows: Grilled duck foie gras with mirabelles, lemon crumble full-bodied juice: a nice and gentle combination. Hake ballet stuffed with muslin with spices, black rice and figs, green curry bone foam: fondant and tasty. Lamb rack, textured artichoke tartlet, noa cucumber and sliced bone juice in cucumber skin oil: ingenuity of the chef. Me who does not like lamb, I asked for a change of dish that was done without extra, the sweetbread I tasted was perfect. Sweet premise. Roasted apricot with honey, full fruit sorbet, light cream with spelt and praline with cereals: the moment of dessert is that of pleasure and the culmination of a meal. Sucreries.
The chef and his brigade concentrate and multiply the flavors in very skillful taste and visual balances. My only regret is not meeting the chef, I would like to congratulate him. This review will perhaps allow him to see the enchantment he brings to his customers.
The attentive, discreet and distinguished service in a refined and comfortable room where the tables are well spaced, helps to amplify the tranquility of an exceptional tasting. Immaculate tablecloths, carefully chosen glassware and sparkling cutlery accentuate the magic of the meal.
The requirement of this modern gastronomy is reflected in the wines offered by the sommelier. Listening to the preferences and desires of Alsace wine, he knows how to propose wines whose aromatic expressions emulsify in a perfect symbiosis with the chef’s cuisine.
When a brilliant team with unique know-how makes you live a wonder, we are looking forward to returning to the Hostel of Frankenburg.
Awarded stars for several years, the Hostel du Frankenbourg promotes the influence of French gastronomy while being a quality ambassador.

Between the Alsace plain and the Vosges forest, the Auberge du Frankenbourg exudes a wooded, calm and relaxing atmosphere worthy of its Michelin star and its recognition as a sustainable gastronomic inn.
A smiling and warm welcome led us into a room whose framework dazzled me. The natural and elegant charm of the dining room bodes well. From our table (6), we could both contemplate the hilly and wooded gentleness of La Vancelle.
The dining room team perfectly masters quality service: discretion, attentive presence allowing a happy gastronomic escape.
On this Monday lunchtime in early July, we chose the menu: “Seasonal Temptation” (66 euros). Menu which reveals all the skill of a chef wishing to reconcile contemporary gastronomy, Alsatian roots, seasonality and product quality. Menu where attentions and surprises stimulate the palate and emotions. The chef's talents are reflected in the technicality and aesthetics of the dishes tasted.
The sommelier was able to meet my expectations of discoveries and exclusively Alsatian flavors.
The Auberge offers many discreet touches: possibility of having an aperitif on the terrace, change of a dish that would not be suitable on the menu (at no extra charge), menu card offered at the end of the meal...
I understand why it is necessary to reserve your table well in advance.
The brilliant team at the Auberge du Frankenbourg fully deserves to see its Star continue to shine and illuminate the Vosges forest.

Dinner in Frankenburg, where chef Sébastien Buecher’s inspired, sapid, always innovative and flawlessly cooked cuisine, in the atmosphere of a casual and very professional restaurant service, is a moment of epicure each time renewed.
The availability of the sommelier to exchange around the wines offered by the glass in accordance with each of the 4 courses of the Gourmet Menu (plus dessert) remains, for any wine lover, one of the privileged moments of the meal.
The pleasant discovery this time was the presentation, at the end of the meal, of a menu that, open, presents on one page the menu served and on the other the wines that accompanied it. Its originality also lies in its 4 cardboard pages illustrated with a portrait painted with Pinot Noir d'Alsace and brown beer by a local artist, Laurent Bessot. The two Buecher brothers, Chef SĂ©bastien and Pension Master Guillaume, are honoured, as are two members of the team.
Another notable improvement is the renovation of the floor, from the reception to the restaurant and the living room, in a clear white that reflects an Impression of brightness and space of the most welcoming. The dining room is particularly magnified by the imposing wooden frame -notwithstanding the atrabilariae - which overlooks the beautiful round tables impeccably coated in white.
Last but not least, after a quiet and comfortable night we found the excellent breakfast buffet, temporarily removed with the covid episode.
Therefore, it is only natural that we agree with the 96% satisfied reviews of Frankenburg, which we warmly recommend.

For my 40th birthday, the question didn't arise for long as to where I wanted to go to eat. In my favorite restaurant, of course, too bad for the kilometers, it's always well worth it.
I have been going to this restaurant once a year for...about 8 years. And there are faces that are still there. When we know how complicated human resources management is in a company (and even more so in the restaurant industry), I congratulate the management team for managing to retain its employees and create a team spirit. In addition, the staff is extremely pleasant, smiling, always with a friendly word.
Now let's talk about cooking. I have made good resolutions for this year 2024. Eat more fruits and vegetables. So I challenge myself by opting for the vegetarian menu, with in the back of my mind the fear of being disappointed (by a lack of taste, diversity, etc.). And what a surprise!! Explosion of colors, flavors, textures, incredible work on the plate, always perfect cooking, a fantastic balance of tastes (special mention for the sauerkraut as an appetizer and the egg in 2 cookings). Everything I love about this restaurant in fact, there is NEVER a misstep.
Finally...the prices! We talk about inflation, we know that charges are exploding today, etc. And yet, the menu prices are completely correct for this type of establishment, given the services provided. A special note, I frequent a lot of high-end restaurants which "goof off" on the price of drinks, this is absolutely not the case here. The quality/price ratio is simply unbeatable.
Thank you, thank you to the entire Frankenbourg team for giving us a perfect experience every time we visit. See you next year.

On an exceptional last sunny day, we were able to have an aperitif on the terrace, tempting appetizers served with a Muscat from F.Mochel and a magnificent fruit cocktail for the "non-alcoholic". Beautiful foie gras with smoked eel, curry whiting, wild boar with beetroot, roasted fig... everything is perfect.
The wines served in perfect harmony...
Attentive and friendly service.

We had lunch on Sunday lunchtime with almost 25 people, the place lends itself really well to this type of meal. Large outdoor parking, warm setting with a view of nature, three tables of 8-10 people near the large bay windows at the back, a little away from the other tables. The service is efficient and professional, friendly and accommodating.
The meal is very good, the wine list is stocked with affordable bottles (let them advise you), the place is therefore more than recommendable and fully deserves its reputation.

What a pleasure it has been to enjoy a lunch at Frankenbourg. From the first amuse bouche until the chocolates at the dessert, this place is just magnificent. We enjoyed the menu gourmet. Every single dish balancing interesting flavours paired with extraordinary wines. It's hard to select a highlight, as all dishes showed refinement and taste. Definitely going to visit you again when we are around. Thanks for the pleasant experience!

The setting is sumptuous and at the same time very original. The dishes are neat and delicious. We had taken the menu at 66 th which has an unbeatable Award Value for a starred restaurant. The choice of wines is perfect in harmony with the dishes. Finally the welcome is relaxed and the chef easily explains the compositions of the dishes with passion.
Thank you for this wonderful moment

Good morning
We are used to frequenting gourmet establishments.
The frame is very nice.
Due to a lack of choice on the menu, we all took the 95 euro menu.
The main course was missing, meat!
Our main course was a very small piece of pork (certainly very good) with a small piece of bacon!!
The service is normal for a starred restaurant.
Around 10:30 p.m., end of service.
The staff finishes their shift.
To summarize, far too expensive addition to the dishes and service...
We will not come back again.

If you want to have an excellent culinary experience in a magnificent setting, this is the place to dream.
The dishes are made with the vast majority of local and seasonal products.
The presentation is careful and the explanations for tasting each dish allow an explosion of flavors with each bite.
Dishes from each menu can be taken Ă la carte for small appetites. The sommelier's choices based on our requests are perfect.
The quality to price ratio is excellent.
The plus is the possibility of sleeping on site in very affordable rooms.
The breakfasts are perfect and plentiful with fresh, seasonal fruit.
The experience must be repeated quickly

We have been coming to the "Auberge Frankenbourg" in La Vancelle to the Buecher family for years. The restaurant is quiet and a little out of the way. The excellent, creative cuisine by SĂ©bastien Buecher, the competent, friendly service under the direction of Guillaume Buecher and the lovely atmosphere never cease to amaze us. Until next time.....!

What to say...
We came to eat as a family.
Very flexible, the butler let us choose the 3 menus.
For my part, the plant walk. Perfect, seasoning, originality, flavors. I loved.
My parents had the Gourmet menu, they loved the trout and the pigeon, very delicate.
My husband, the large menu with wines (very generous), a parade of fair and tasty plots, accompanied by original wines.
Conclusion: we have already booked for the fall.
Thanks to the indoor team who put on a real ballet
