Don Yayo offers really good chicharrones and the ambience is good. This is a bar with good bar food.

We went to this restaurant 5 times for dinner during our 16 day stay. The best pork and chicken meals I have ever had!

Don Yayo's is a old family resterauant that has maintained a loyal following for more than 20 years. The quality and portions of their food have remained very good over the years. There bocas are very good value. Their soups are very good. I especially like their soupa mariscos( seafood soup). They are also known for their Chifrio. My only... More

The Chifrio was excellent. Others inout party had Chicken Quesadillas, and were very happy. Check out the Bocas (appetizer menu), and the daily specials. Plenty to eat and less expensive.

An enjoyable dining experience. It wasn't too expensive and the food was tasty. Great service and authentic dishes.

I have had quite a long stay in Atenas Costa Rica and have had an opportunity to eat at a lot of different places. Don Yayo has the most consistent quality meals at very reasonable prices. I like the Casada the best. A great mix of local flavor on one plate. I like the chicharones but the chicken is good... More

Friendly staff, and great food and drink, it doesn't get much better than that. We visited as a group, and as a couple, and both times the food was superb. I'm very much a "Stick a pin in the menu" chooser, when in Costa Rica eat what the Costa Ricans do. Cannot fault it.

My Canadian expat friend took me here for lunch. She ordered everything in Spanish so I had no idea what was coming. And because I am vegan it was challenging. The appetizer of plantain fritters with black bean dip was stellar (had to scrape the grated cheese off the top). My lunch entre consisted of a plate of fried yucca... More

First vist to Costa Rica. Our host recommeded this location for dinner. As a beer drinker, I was please at the selection of local and craft beers, something I love experiencing. The food was equally as impressive for our first Costa Rican meal. The staff is friendly and helpful, even as we struggled with our Spanish.
