Stopped for lunch, around 2pm, having driven into Santana looking for somewhere for lunch and a cash machine. We sat outside on a narrow terrace (lots of seating inside) and had the specials of the day; fresh tuna for me, ribs for him. Total cost for 2 including a couple of beers, sparkling water was around 28 Euros. Service was... More

We only stopped off for a coffee as we weren't hungry but locals were eating there and it looked good. We noticed the 'specials board' with three local dishes with prices ranging from €6.50 to €8.50. After we'd ordered our coffee, an elderly lady asked us again if we'd like to eat, when we said not she appeared quite put... More

Great place to eat dinner or lunch during your stay in Madeira. We eat there the best meal during our stay!

Serra e Mar is a nice little simple restaurant in Santana. Mostly visited by locals (which is always a good thing). We went based on the good reviews and weren't disappointed. We ordered the daily specials and got huge plates with well prepared tuna/ribs. We paid a little over 20 euros for 2 persons with drinks. It's not a fancy... More

We opted for this restaurant as we found several locals eating there. We went for a swordfish with banana sauce and a chicken dish, with bollo do caco for starter. The latter proved to be the best bit. Unfortunately both main courses were simply bland, no distinctive spicing, nothing special in terms of flavour. The portions were huge though so... More

We had some difficulties in finding the restaurant but succeeded at last. The staff was very friendly and the food was excellent. The menu isn't very long but I think it was enough to choose from.

We stopped off here after circulating the whole island after reading good reviews before going. We ordered the traditional cheese salad with garlic bread which was tasty. Our mains we're excellent. Fresh sardines, cod and scabbard with banana sauce which is one to try. Desert was traditional apple pie, which was homemade. All with great service and friendly faces. Highly... More

The restaurant is simple but clean. Appears to be more of a local place with no set menu. There were three meal choices: tuna, pork ribs, and roast chicken. We had the tuna and the ribs. The portions were generous and the food was tasty. All came with a salad, french fries and rice. We also had a beer and... More

Spent a week in Santana and ate at local restaurants. This was best food that we found. Tuna steak was so fresh and tasty. Look through the unpretentious appearance of the place.
