It's a place where you can stay for many hours, first have some wine tastings at sir Robert Stanford winery and after that have a fantastic lunch/dinner at Madres kitchen. The food is better than average but the surroundings is perfect to be with kids....More

We had a lovely lunch at Madre this weekend. Small menu but very well presented food. Not loads but delicious. We paid R 700 for 4 people and bottle of wine with a shared cheesecake dessert. Main meals were the burgers on farm bread and...More

A little treasure as you approach Stanford, on the left hand side. Although you will not find Madre in the kitchen ... the legacy continues! Lovely food and a magnificent setting! We found the menu (which seems to change almost daily) quite limiting and kids...More

We almost missed this place - didn't see the sign, came back from Hermanus, at the spur of the moment made a sharp turn for the grappa tasting - enjoyed that, walked around and promptly returned the next morning a breakfast. Being kid-friendly was nr...More

The first few times we ate here, the service and food were of great quality. The last time, the restaurant was packed. Food was cold and the waitress turned her nose up at us. Reason you might ask? Madre was not there. Only the kitchen...More

What a treat and friendly staff, we asked for quick service as we had more places to visit and was helped without the compromise of the food! A must visit

Fabulously situated on the Stanford Wine Estate (on the R43 in Stanford), this organic vegetable garden kitchen was recommended to us by locals & was a fabulous find. A glass of chilled sauvignon blanc & a simple but excellent lunch whilst watching the coots play on the small lake in front of the kitchen. A rustic paradise situated between the whale watching at Hermanus and De Kelders.
