Everything else about this pub may be fine however the scowling barmaid has left an indelible impression. From the moment we walked in her attitude stank. If this is how this pub welcomes first time customers it will I assume remain one of those "locals'" pubs that no one passing through would ever return to. As we won't.

Great meal, even though the chef called in sick, the landlord stepped up and we all had the correct food. Good atmosphere. Would have been nice to have Christmas crackers on the table.

Went to call in here today after reading reviews only to find note pinned to door saying 'Closed while transistion to new management' Just thought we would save others a wasted trip. It did not say when it would be opening again, but it may be best to telephone first just in case. I had to gve it a rating... More

Came here with work for lunch. Parking was a bit of a challenge. Lady who took orders and served us seemed a bit harsh/unfriendly, but maybe just was very busy. I had a pulled pork burger. Excellent portion size and very tasty! Recommended. Only issue was that this place has gotten on the bandwagon of serving food on silly alternatives... More

We went here tonight to get a quick bite to eat to use the voucher I brought a while back. It's a lovely old pub with real atmosphere and very friendly staff. It appears to be known for the burgers as you not only get a choice of what you'd like with them, bacon and cheese (Cheddar or Stilton), Chilli,... More

I was part of a group on a residential training at The Abbey and we tentitively visited this local pub for a much needed break. We were treated with huge warmth and friendliness from all of the locals and in particular the owner of the pub (who has a huge heart), her husband and the lovely barmaid. Thank you to... More

Whilst walking the Thames path, we stopped for lunch here, an excellent pint from the local Abingdon brewery. The staff were friendly and helpful. It was a sensible menu, not trying to compete with the Gastro pub around the corner. The food took some time but good food does take time, I had the beef brisket, very tender, plenty of vegetables...
