I have always loved the food here, but I did have a poor meal earlier in the year. I've now had a repeat visit and found the experience mixed, again. The starters were all beautiful but the lamb cooked three ways was very disappointing. No sign of the proprietors, Carl and Amanda, so I am wondering if they are less... More

Visited for lunch whilst travelling North. Lovely setting by the village green. Once inside charming rustic pub. Lunch menu very varied and also included light sandwich menu. Food was excellent. The only downside was the welcome or should I say "unwelcome". Young woman spoke very abruptly, no welcome hello with a smile. Literally no customer service at all. I felt... More

Visited recently with friends. I had monkfish which was very expensive for the portion size I ate it in three bites. My husband had the steak pie. The pastry was hard and the steak tasted as if it had been cooked with rosemary which was quite unpleasant. Rosemary is served with lamb not steak. The desserts were poor. Sticky toffee... More

We have been coming to The Crown for a number of years and have always had an excellent meal. We booked a family table for six although the restaurant was pretty packed with extra tables. The service throughout was prompt pleasant and attentive as always. For starters our party chose the butternut squash which was piping hot and tasty, the... More

While caravaning locally we booked in for a Sunday lunch. The meal was excellent and two courses were more than sufficient. My grumble is about the table we were allocated; there was an awkward rail at foot level preventing a comfortable seating position. There was no problem with being given fresh seating but this set of furniture should be sent... More

Four of us went for lunch recently and mostly we enjoyed what we had. I had monkfish which was served with spicy chickpeas. I thought it was quite expensive for such a small piece but I did enjoy the taste. My husband has fish and chips and the fish was huge! Desserts were nice - sticky toffee oudiing was yummy... More

We went to eat there on a couple of occasions to try the food out and were simply blown away by the quality. Starters, mains and puddings are all carefully prepared, beautifully presented with flavours to match. The service is excellent as my daughter and wife have dietary allergies, nothing was too much of a problem, substituting items that might... More

Very busy pub/restaurant. Booking essential. Not a lot of space between tables in the room we were in. We have been twice recently. Staff very friendly and efficient, despite being really busy. Late Sunday lunch and evening meal. Both times food was excellent and well served. Enjoyed meals both times.

The owners clearly value their clientele, but it's too hot and the food doesn't match their current reputation.

Took our friends to the Crown Inn for their first time for a yummy lunch following a 5 mile circular walk mile from the Church We sat at the front of the pub near to the lady mannequins that are always suitably attired for the season (I'll leave you to visit to find out what I mean if you haven't...
