About
We’re on the way! Located at Kilometre 0 (the start of the Okanagan Rail Trail) The Cafe is a meeting point for anyone heading to out on the Rail Trail, Kalamalka Provincial Park and/or Kalamalka Lake Beach. Nestled into the South corner of the historic Kalamalka Store, the Cafe offers a full Coffee Espresso Bar with locally-roasted coffee, Baked Goods, Lunch offerings, snacks and a great place to relax. Our organic coffee is roasted locally in small batches and we bake most of our own offerings in-house. It’s a cozy sit inside and in the Spring, Summer and Fall, the outdoor deck has views of Kalamalka Beach, Kal Park and Coldstream. To compliment the Cafe and Store, Kalavida Surf Shop is located next door with a full Paddleboard and surf retail shop along with bike and board rentals. Rent an ebike (electric bike) and head out on the Rail Trail and explore Kalamalka.

Such a great store & market. The food is so good & fresh. They make the best scones, muffins, cookies, pretty much everything. The unique gifts they carry are so much fun. Love the whole atmosphere inside. Cozy & comfy. A perfect place to stop when doing the rail trail or just popping in any time.

I've been to the Rail Trail Cafe on several occasions because the owners have graciously allowed the Stoics Meetup I'm a part of to congregate there after hours. I've always found the staff at the Rail Trail Cafe to be personable on a level that goes beyond "Can I take your order?" On one occasion, Michelle, (one of the owners) allowed me to buy an item on credit, because I'd walked down from my place in Coldstream without my wallet. I didn't even know her at the time. That kind of trust and kindness is the attitude that keeps me coming back. Overall, I'd say the Rail Trail Cafe is a well liked establishment for it's food, drink, ambiance, and the perky baristas! With that said, it is a very busy atmosphere with a revolving door of customers and beach goers. For this reason, they do have stringent sitting rules for certain areas (like the booth at the back) which, understandably, is reserved for two or more people at a time and not Laptop campers. I'd recommend this cafe for anyone who is passing through Coldstream and needs a shot of caffeine, or a place to sit and chat or collect their thoughts, as the environment is not over-imposing and the music is low enough to have a conversation over.

We look forward to a stop at this cafe once we finish the Rail Trail. Their baked goods are wonderful and taste even better outside on the deck with views of Kalamalka Lake.

I am in love with my new find for on the go food! The roast beef sandwich is sooo good! Last week I was able to have it heated (came back for it two days in a row:) but this week there is a rule that if the sandwich in its wrapping taken from the “grab and go” deli case it shall not be heated due to hand contagion potential.. even with application of hand sanitizer at the door. The server could have walked around the case to use her hands but this was not offered or perhaps possible as per the store policy. It’s just a sandwich.. it’s just a hungry customer delighted with this enjoyable lunch. Too bad. All these rules are making someone money but not the rail trail cafe today.

My friend had her car towed and cost 290$ to get her vehicle back. We are regular customers and she was enjoying coffee the other day. Very disappointing as I like to support the small local businesses. At least they could have checked if it belonged to someone in the cafe. They took no responsibility, shame on them

PROS -cute venus- more like a bakery with delicisous muffins -lots of parking -a nice over priced market CONS -not really a full breakfast place- mostly muffins and pre made its like little quiches -coffee not really that good -a bit over priced -had to ask for plastic utensils -I had asked for heated muffin but it came cold -could be more friendly and smile more

Love love love this place! Glad I found this gem and visited many times during my Vernon stay for coffee and homemade muffins ( my favourite was the cranberry lemon). Delicious homemade savoury snacks are Breakfast Bombs and Samosas.

This little coffee house has a sweet patio where you can enjoy your beverage and baked goods before or after the beach. Calm, and lovely views of the lake. Small parking lot, but don't try to use this for your beach parking.

A great place for coffee and be sure to try out their scones! (From the Salty Caramel Cafe in LC) Excellent coffee and specialty drinks and a great little patio as well! Apologies to the Cafe... reviewed it a couple of months ago and commented on the excellent crepes..not even thinking that it was separated from the RTC... Both are excellent but crepe truck only there on sundays....?

Our dd wanted to stop here, she had heard it was good. So we did. It’s a neat little coffee shop combined with a little grocery store. The atmosphere is bohemian and quaint. A great pit stop for families.

A friend and I biked from Oyama BC, to Vernon BC on the newly completed Rail Trail and stopped for lunch at the Rail Trail Cafe! It was a great place for a break, wonderful choice of Crepes! I had the Brie, spinach and walnut stuffed crepe and it was great! Certainly fuelled me for the trio back to Oyama!

A small cafe with various delicious muffins, snacks and hot drinks to give you energy for the 30km ride back to Lake Country. Small general store attached if you need something more.

This unique little coffee shop located on Kal Beach next door to the Kalavida paddle board shop is a great place to relax. They have extended the out-door seating area with tables with umbrellas and benches. Go early in the day as they close by 4:00pm. You can get a snack to go with your choice of coffee. The interior decor reinforces the rail-trail theme and the best part is the location right across from the beach and within meters of the beautiful walking trail along the old railway bed which extends all the way to Kelowna. A great day walk or bike ride and with a stroller friendly surface.

This Cafe serves great coffee and pastries/cookies. It’s ideally located at the trail head of the OK rail trail and Kal Beach. There is a attached store if you need more supplies for your adventure!

The awesome owners of Kalavida have opened this lovely spot for folks enjoying Kal Beach and heading out on the new Rail Trail. A perfect spot to grab some grub, caffeine or just sit on the patio and soak up the sun!
