We booked a table at Kindee after seeing high reviews on Google. It was also recommended by the owners of the resort we were staying at. It’s a smaller restaurant and always very busy, and after visiting we can see why! The staff are very friendly and helpful. They were able to give us many recommendations and modify menu items based on our dairy allergies, plus my boyfriend is vegetarian. The “gnocchi” was one of the best meals we had during our week on Ko Lanta. We even tried to go back to get that same dish on our final day, but the restaurant was fully booked. Highly recommend going, just make sure you call ahead to make a reservation.

Whilst this restaurant is quite expensive compared to most of the local places, it is worth visiting once or twice. It’s like really posh Thai food, beautifully presented, and just a little different. It’s always full, which tells you something, so pop along and book a table.

This restaurant is phenomenal. Me and my friend read about the great reviews, and after someone at our hostel praised about it, we decided to check it out. We had chicken spring rolls as appetizer, snapper, 24h pork and for dessert chili chocolate and coconut sorbet. The best food I’ve had in my 6 week trip to Thailand, no question about it. But the most amazing thing about this restaurant is the greatest service I’ve experienced anywhere. We sat close to the bar, where a fan broke all of a sudden and fell to the floor. The staff apologized and they offered us desserts free of charge, even though nothing happened to us, nothing hit us, we just got a little scared. This is the best restaurant in Koh Lanta, should be rated nro#1!

We lived on Koh Lanta for 3 months during the confinement, and have been eating from Kindee's at least 2 to 3 times a week all along. The daily special were always a nice surprise, the a la carte menu is delicious as well. A clever mix between Thai staples, European/comfort food, and fusion dishes. The duck confit Paneang curry was our favourite. We tried every item on the menu everything was awesome, and after 3 months of eating there all the time, it never disapointed (altho we might have gained a kilo or two 😅)
Honestly, the confinement on Koh Lanta was sometimes a bit hard, but we knew that at the end of each day we would have a great meal, and it always cheered us up, in moments of uncertainty.

We visited here after reading the impressive reviews. It was extremely close to our hotel on long beach and the food was outstanding
If I had longer on ko lanta I would definitely visit again. The restaurant is small so if you want a leisurely meal book the later sitting
The food was stunning . We had the tacos and tostada starters followed by the mains of tom yum snapper whilst I opted for the pork shoulder

We booked a table by email, which was answered within 30 minutes. All set to go.
Restaurant very clean and a modern somewhat industrial appearance.
The menu is quite limited which is a positive surprise after looking at endless menu options of most local restaurants.
Original dishes all based on local touch. But served in a very pleasant manner. Nice plates and food served with a good eye for presentation too.
But most important: great taste !
Prices a bit higher than the local restaurants but a very positive price/quality ratio as this place makes the difference between getting some food versus going out for dinner.
We also enjoyed quite a reasonable bottle of wine priced just under 1.000 baht.
Just because you should also be a bit critical: the portions were quite big !
Will definitely return !

Excellent, upmarket thai food with a twist. We ate here twice during our stay at Layana on Long Beach and it was the best food we had. We LOVED the prawn and mango and the pork belly starters - so fresh. Our favourite mains were the curry - green curry lovely and spicy with lots of seafood and the massaman was an incredible steak, medium rare, in a delicious sauce. We booked in advance by email and I would recommend. Slightly more expensive than your bog standard Thai, but cheap compared to England!! Definitely visit!

We spend our New Year’s Eve at this restaurant. The food was AMAZING to the price. We really enjoyed this place and kind highly recommend this restaurant if you like to enjoy a great food experience.

Cosy and friendly place. Very tasty, but also very heavy. Mix of Thai and Scandinavian almost winter cooking. Mashed sweet potato and pork and mashed pumpkins and gravy with red snapper is nice, but in my world much to heavy when it’s 30 degrees outside.

Lucky we arrived early and got a table for an hour and half. I’d highly recommend booking to avoid disappointment.
Kindee presents modern with a minimalistic decor at the front and a beautiful garden at the back. The food is prepared with utmost skill, delivering amazing flavours and textures and is beautifully presented.
The concept is that of medium sized dishes. Two of those per person are sufficient, maybe one extra to share if you’re very hungry.
The service was gorgeous! Absolutely lovely.
We had an amazing evening and without doubt Kindee is the place to go for a very special dinner.

The restaurant is situated in a large garden setting with tables far from one another. We brought our own wine to the restaurant and ordered 9 different dishes for 3 people. The dishes ate tapas style, small portion. They were flavoursome and presented very nicely. My only issue is the service. It was nearly non existent. After the dishes were served the waitress vanished. It took a long while to order more water and more food.

Hi, thanks for your review. Sorry about the non-existing service, or at least non-existing to your standards. As you maybe can imagine after almost 3 years of covid and close to zero customers on our island most people working in the service industry have left Koh Lanta for other opportunities so staff isn't very easy to come by these days. That means that we are at the moment, (same as most other restaurants with limited resources) low on staff.
We are doing the best we can with what we have and we are extremely happy that we can be open again and that we have customers. We are also very happy and grateful for the staff we have and the amazing work they do considering that our restaurant is at its capacity almost every night.
I do understand that the covid pandemic hasn't affected everyone in the same way. but to most businesses on this island, it has been devastating. The only reason Kindee still exists is because of friends and family, their help, and their generosity.
It might be good to take into consideration if you visit some other restaurants on the island and feel like the service or something else isn't up to your standard.

We loved this restaurant so much that we ate here twice in less than a week. Please note it is best to book in advance as they usually always full. The restaurant is situated adjacent to the Lanta Casa Blanca resort where we were staying and are so glad they were so local. The food was amazingly different and so delicious….presented in our view, an award winning way, this restaurant has really invented a fantastic menu! We are avid foodies who eat out a lot and have eaten all over the world….honestly, you must try this restaurant as the food is amazing! The prices are very reasonable and make sure you try the deserts….they equally as good. The menu is small and uncomplicated so it’s very easy to choose from and the menu may sometimes change as it’s all made with local produce
The waiter service is very good although on the second visit, they did forget our complimentary table water and we had to remind them. You can choose to sit outside or inside. We sat outside the first time, but beware of mosquitoes. The restaurant atmosphere is so nice either outside or inside and so you will enjoy it!!!

We reached out to Emil (the chef and owner) before we arrived in Koh Lanta as we had specific dietary requirements. Emil replied promptly and on our 2nd night on Lanta we went to Kindee for dinner. My group was 2 adults and 2 teenagers. We were greeted warmly on arrival and seated quickly. The menu was quite simple compared to many other restaurants we have tried on this trip. The simplicity was perfect. We tried the Massaman Beef Curry which was perfectly seasoned and beautifully presented. Another dish we chose was with squid. All the flavours and textures were well balanced and the portions were a good size. All in all a great gastronomical experience, something quite original in Koh Lanta

We ate at this restaurant a couple of times and every time we are really happy about the food. Every meal is really delicious. Love pork tacos, spring rolls, 24 hours marinated pork and the rest. You must visit this place and try thai fusion food cooked in a different delicious way!

We had a lovely meal and booked again for a second visit.
Menu is small, which is a good sign!
Everything we ordered was really good and all dishes tasted differently.
We’re perhaps not Michelin inspectors, but this was the best Thai meal we had in and outside of Thailand.
