Very friendly staff and excellent service! My wife had the Steak frites which was nicely cooked and i had the fish and chips which was absolutely huge but very tasty with great tartare sauce! They also had Timothy Taylor Landlord on tap which is always a positive!!

We are fans of The Lucky Onion brand with their fab hotels and restaurants. So thought we would try out The Chequers. Great decision as the place has uber cool decor, the service is professional and above all the food was simply amazing. Brought family from Guatemala for lunch and all agreed the best Steak & Guinness pie EVER .... More

We arrived and waited ages for the barman to acknowledge us there it wasnt busy but he was ages serving a customer. We asked had they a table told yes but we had to make our own way and find one. My friend and I had mid week evening meal. She had gnudi which was about 5 pieces on some... More

Once again, a fabulous meal for a birthday occasion. The warmth and friendliness of the reception here creates a good mood before you even enter the dining room. The restaurant area is spacious, airy, stylishly decorated with interesting artefacts and comfortable, and a nice buzz comes through from the pub bar, along with the lovely smell of wood smoke. The... More

Booked a Saturday lunch here on the way down to Tetbury and glad we did as it was quite busy. Loved the bar area although there isn't a huge amount of room to sit down. The dining room has a great ambience and the staff were very friendly. I had the double baked cheese soufflé which I had to have... More

Lovely to be able to walk to the Chequers if you are staying in Churchill. Friendly staff and you can even have a game of darts.

Vibrant environment, with lots of locals engaged in convivial conversation. Uncomplicated British gastro-pub menu. Fresh, local food prepared and presented to a high standard. Good range of craft beers, and carefully selected wines to satisfy the discerning palate. Service exceptional . . . swift, unobtrusive, helpful.

Having never eaten this bird previously I was delighted to have done so and where better than this classic high quality Cotswold pub/restaurant. Highlights would be the really lovely staff who were helpful, honest and fun, the battered fish which was superb, and the partridge!! The latter was £20 but included a glass of claret and Stilton and port to... More

First impressions are important and a cheerful welcome was a promising sign when we arrived for Sunday lunch. Peter the confident Bar Manager has only been there for two months but behaved as if he had been in charge for longer. Pre-lunch wine was served in Riedel glasses which was a nice touch, and freshly-baked (and still hot) sausage rolls... More

We stayed at the B&B across the street, so this was very handy and very good for a light supper which was what we were looking for. There was a good menu selection and our orders were prepared efficiently and served by a friendly, professional waitress. Barman needs some coaching on how to greet a stranger to make them feel... Description
In the picture perfect village of Churchill, The Chequers is everything a traditional pub should be with its pretty Cotswold stone exterior and a muddy landrover outside. Except, step inside this pub and you'll find something much more intriguing. A heady mix of the old and new. Expect modern cocktails to sit alongside local ales, and a menu that is packed with seasonally inspired dishes.Enjoy locally brewed beer propped at our bar with friends and family, or rustic dishes in our restaurant using the very best British ingredients in some well-loved classics like our Twice Baked Cheddar Soufflé, Bobby Battered Market Fish and our unmissable steaks cooked to perfection in Josper ovens.
