Recently returned here for another try after reading reviews. The tourism interest of an operating cider maker is good. It's the food delivery in the bistro that misses. Wait staff isn't the best, and are stressed for some reason, the room uninviting compared to the Crow and Gate, and the food skimped on and flavorless. We had the chicken pizza... More

We live nearby and eat here quite often. The atmosphere is lovely in the summertime when the windows are open to the orchard and in the winter there is a cozy fire. The menu is locally sourced and reflects the different seasons. We always enjoy the playful cocktails made from the Cidery's spirts. The service is attentive and friendly. In... More

We went in spring when the apple trees were in bloom and it was pure magic. We sat at an open window overlooking the orchards and enjoyed a mushroom pizza with morel mushrooms the chef had picked that morning in the orchard. A cider tasting and a tour of the distillery completed the visit. Lovely spot. So good we drove... More

Came in for lunch last week. Asparagus soup was terrific!!! Reasonably tasty sandwiches, nothing special. Rating would be a 3 if it weren't for our server who was terrific!!! James ... I think. So much fun, beautiful natural surroundings.

We have gone to Merridale cider over the past few years because it is unique with its apple orchard surrounding the restaurant and excellent apple cider produced onsite. On our recent New Year's day visit, the food was disappointing ! The eggs benedict was served cold and my pizza had a thick crust that must have come out of the... More

We visit here a few times a year, often with visiting guests. Our latest visit was for Christmas Eve brunch, so our party ranged in age from 70 to 4. We could order from both the brunch and lunch menus that day. The house-made charcuterie was excellent - we were glad to have added it for the table - and... More

If you find yourself in the Cowichan Valley the Merridale Cider restaurant is worth a detour. The cider tasting experience is fun and their products tasty. The restaurant however exceeds these with its diversity and quality. The locale is lovely and to me, the icing on a fine dining experience.

Description
As you travel up or down Vancouver Island, stop in at our orchard bistro for lunch. Enjoy local cuisine, a large patio overlooking our orchard, and, of course, apple cider hand crafted just steps from the bistro's kitchen. Located in the middle of a working cider farm, this unique Vancouver Island restaurant combines cider pairings and seasonal menu items inspired by nearby Cowichan Valley farmers, vintners, and cheese-makers. The restaurant has two eating areas. You'll find the main room with its traditional fieldstone fireplace and spacious tables. The main restaurant also features a granite cider tasting bar - perfect for a cider and some conversation while your lunch is being prepared. Guests can also enjoy their meal on the large covered patio where you will find plenty of outdoor space to sit with friends, sip coffee, or sample ciders and local wines.
