We were in Osaka for a holiday and thought to try out Fujiya 1935 as we saw rave reviews on it. My partner and I came separately. I was slightly late so I was pretty surprised to see him still sitting in the waiting area...when I arrived. Apparently the table couldn't turn around quickly enough. We waiting at least another 15 minutes before we were shown to the table. The first few dishes were served very quickly, and suddenly the pace slowed down considerably.. to the point where we became abit restless. The servers carefully explained each dish they brought out, but they need to be more careful as sometimes i see their hands touching my food. I really liked the firefly squid, japanese cockle and uni pasta . Their flavors were delicate, and brought out the freshness of the seafood. Desserts were also excellent, particularly the flowers mascarpone with chamomile sorbert. Every dish was beautifully presented. Unfortunately, we were also seated next to a very noisy group of diners, which marred the experience but this is of no fault to the restaurant.More

This is the third visit we made to this restaurant. We had both dinner and lunch here before. This time the chef made a Hamo cuisine lunch with 8 courses for us. The signature spongy bread is as delicious as before and this time they...add green tea taste to it. We love the sea urchin fedelini and the taijima beef which were cooked to perfection. The only dish that could be improved is tenryu river nagano fish. However, the goat milk cream puff is an amazing desert. Overall, this restaurant well deserves its three star Michelin rating in serving Spanish and Japanese cuisine. We shall definitely come back again.More

Exquisitely prepared 14 course meal Langoustine with Japanese home made Bottarga was almost like eating a sashimi Deep fried sea urchin came piping hot and was all soft and creamy inside. Even the freshly bake bread with pork fat was great The pasta with blowfish...shiraku and generous slices of truffle is an acquired taste. If you don’t like the sperm sac of fish this dish is not for you. The pan fried Cutlass fish on a bed of cabbage was just average. Never a fan of cold noodles but the wasabi cold noodles with a hint of youzu made me a fan One of the best Japanese restaurant in Osaka and would travel here just to dine in this restaurantMore

Recently lucky enough to have dinner at Fujiya135. Fantastic experience. set menu for the night, with a series of beautifully presented and delicious courses. Excellent service from a very attentive and polite staff. Price was surprisingly reasonable for a dinner of this caliber. Highly recommend.

Reservations made via email and it was pretty seamless considering the time difference between us. It was a celebratory dinner for my boyfriend’s graduation and I requested for something special on a dessert and they went above and beyond to show just how special he...is. We loved the simplistic design of the restaurant and honestly, it makes the food the focal point. It was great to be able to interact with the chef and his sous chefs since it was such an intimate environment. At the end of our meal, chef Tetsuya personally greeted us and invited us to his kitchen to take a picture and even hailed us a cab afterwards. I wouldn’t want to ruin the food for you guys but it really was an amazing experience that lasted about 2-3 hours and although that seems long, it didn’t feel like it and it was definitely worth the time.More

Been to several Michelin 1 star restaurants in Singapore - they taste good, but sometimes the service is questionable, and the price of course is at a premium. Fujiya1935 surprised us because at the price point, the food and service was actually beyond expectations. They...take their time to take you to your seat, and everyone gets their dishes at slightly different times, depending on how fast you complete each dish, but every dish comes with an introduction, typical of any good restaurant. Ambience was nice - simple and minimalist decor, seated beside us were 3 other pairs of Japanese who were speaking to each other softly, and our meal was enjoyed in serenity. I think what really wowed us were the dishes themselves. The salted salmon roe flan was a wonderful burst of flavours in the mouth. Not sure how to describe the taste but we’ve never had anything quite like it, and are confident we might never again. The chestnut bread was light, soft and chewy. The truffle brown rice was what took the cake for me - Every mouthful was delightful. The aroma of the truffle fills your mouth, the soft and chewy texture of the rice allows you to slowly appreciate the aroma of the dish as you chew, and finally, the popped rice seed gave every bit a crunch. It was perfect. The cod roe in yuzu was again, an indescribable delight. The yuzu skin gave the cod roe such an interesting twist, perfectly balancing the savoury taste of the roe with a slightly bitter aroma that lingers in the mouth. The duck was easily the best (most tender and flavourful) i’ve ever had in my life. No other explanation is necessary. The crab linguine was the only dish I felt a bit of a question mark about, but that might be because I don’t like the taste of crab. It was a good dish, just not comparable with all the others. And finally, the dessert - warm + cold grapes with blueberries. Again, what an unexpectedly good surprise this was. Definitely highly recommend this place.More

Fujiya 1935 Had high expectations for this restaurant because of its Michelin rating. Upon our arrival, we were welcomed into a small dimly lit waiting area with 2 other parties. The seats were an awkward height to the table, and the space was not all...that comfortable of the tight quarters. We noticed the party next to us had a guest wearing casual jeans and a hoodie, but the restaurant didn’t seem to mind. The hostess brought out welcome drinks for the party next to us, and ours didn’t arrive until 5 minutes later, even though we all arrived at the same time. We weren’t actually seated in the restaurant until 10 mins later, when we were led up the stairs, passing the chefs who welcomed us on the way in. The restaurant is a renovated apartment building, beautifully designed with 4-5 tables per floor. We sat at our table for another 10 min before we were finally served water, and the first part of dinner seemed like the staff was playing catch up because they seated too many tables at the same time. Service was polite, but not particularly personable, and everyone spoke English well. Food was actually quite delicious, although I’m not sure I saw any Spanish influence in particular. The Chef had trained in Modena, Italy and a wasabi pasta in particular was excellent. The menu was very fall-inspired; we loved the airy pumpkin bread, the toasted brown rice risotto, and the roasted chestnuts that really invited all senses into the Japanese countryside. There was also a few seafood presentations from Hokkaido such as an Amberjack that was beautifully plated, just lightly seared. At the end of the night, one of the chefs walked us out and gave us a very warm send off. For a 2 star restaurant (it used to have 3), Fujiya is very reasonable priced, and the food is simple and delicious. It is unfortunate that the night did not start off the same way it ended.More

There was a miscommunication on dates and they refused to re-seat me or provide a refund. Extremely disappointing that a restaurant can operate without compassion and purely looking at their profit margins....... evident by some of the reviews on comments. Will be writing to the...MIchelin reviewers.More

Each dish in the menu is delicious on its own but the entire sequence of dishes is also harmonious all together as the flavors build up very well. The food is not exactly European and not exactly Japanese. Fusion doesn’t quite describe it either. Flavors...are distinctly Japanese while the cooking style is mostly European but done in a simple manner which respects freshness and flavor of the ingredients.More

Overall very filling and good dinner experience. Fixed menu that cost about 17,500y per person with tax n service charge. Multiple course meal , pls see photos and portion just right to fill your empty tummy. Food quality was exceptional. Some staff spoke good English....Our favorite was the Hokkaido venison. Highly recommendedMore

It is best to ask your hotel concierge to check with the restaurant directly when the hotel concierge is making reservation for you. The menu I had was a mixed of meat and vegetarian dishes.
