We came to El Tovar for lunch. The wait was about 25 minutes. No views of the canyon at least from our area in the restaurant. We ordered the Navajo Taco and chili. The Navajo taco was nothing special, bland--the fry bread was not crispy. The chili was better with large pieces of meat but it had too much cheese.... More

El Tovar dining has always been really good, but this visit was over the top. We go snowed in, so we had the opportunity - the good fortune - to just walk in without reservations and get window seats. We tried the chili, the quiche, the Navajo tacos- and, AND you would be foolish if you didn't try one or... More

First night's dinner: salad shared and delicious, trout - very tasty, halibut and rice- halibut over cooked, rice cold. They allowed replacement of halibut meal with trout...good! Dinner the second night: NY steak was tasty, filet mignon melt in your mouth, good salad, and delicious ice cream, but did not enjoy pomegranate creme brûlée. The regular creme brûlée would have... We had the halibut (frozen) and the fresh sea bass. Food was not hot and had to reheated. Overly sweet sorbet and lukewarm cappuccino. Nothing special especially befitting the gourmet prices. But when at the Grand Canyon it may not be possible to do any better

After reading the positive online reviews for the El Tovar, we decided to make reservations for dinner during our 2 night stay at the Grand Canyon. We were extremely pleased with the quality of the food and service. The ambiance of the dining room is very pleasant---it was definitely a treat to dine at this historic location.

We had a wonderful breakfast on Valentine's Day at the El Tovar historical dining room. Our table had a view out across the courtyard towards the Grand Canyon. The table was set with linens and beautiful pottery dishes. We both order the Fred Harvey signature breakfast with eggs, bacon, potatoes and toast, It was served in a timely manner at... More

We enjoyed our 4 meals here. 2 Dinners and 2 Breakfasts. The dinner menu had many fine choices, the wine list was extensive, and prices were refreshingly reasonable. The breakfast items were very good, and of course the atmosphere is historic and cozy. Our main gripe about the dining room and the bar, was the inconsistent and slow service. A... More

We ate dinner two nights, and breakfast two mornings in the dining room. Service was perfect, and the food was delicious. We had wine both nights, and the selections were great. Breakfast was extremely generous and filling!

I had a late lunch in early January on a cold and rainy day. I had one of the sandwiches with a side salad. The sandwich was big and tasted good. It was so filling that I decided to take the salad back to my room for later. The food came very fast, but then my waiter disappeared. I had... More

Breakfast menu is really moderate priced....stunning Hash/Eggs is my trail energy favorite....big cubes of prime rib meat, potatoes, onion, peppers, topped with eggs to order....served with tortillas....all of this for $13! Other omelette items for $10-$11 range. Dinners ran $20 -$30 for entrees. Even if your budget doesn't allow for more, I found myself full with just the entree. Absolute... More
