On a business trip decided to go off client recommendations and look for the independent - and what a find. Gorgeous hotel rooms, clean modern and hidden behind the historic pub. Great bathroom, bed and altogether lovely. The restaurant is excellent with fab food - really nice find. well done chef and team. Home from home.

My daughter and I turned up at 2:55 on a Sunday for a roast dinner.. kitchens close at 3pm! despite this the staff were very helpful, offered us the choice of a full menu and seated us in a light and friendly part of the restaurant. The staff were attentive, charming and very helpful. The food was wonderful (great quality... More

Came here with a friend after work one Tuesday being that it's in the middle of our two work places. We both had the lamb and beef curry which was on the specials board. It was very good and came with rice and nan bread. The meat was very good and the sauce flavorsome, but I wouldn't say it was... More

We visited the Red Lion to celebrate a friend's birthday and had a wonderful evening. The staff (especially the young lady running the bar/restaurant) were very helpful, obliging and attentive. Supper was delicious and we had a super evening.

Stopped by here on recommendation of some locals. We were not disappointed. We had soups to start which were excellent (maybe a tad filing for a starter). I had a cod main course - v good and my husband two starters which were huge but delicious (cheese balls and beer battered ham). Lovely peaceful ambience, will go again.

Rather disappointed in the food. Went with my 2 year old and friends with their 2 year old. The adults all ordered Sunday roast and the beef was poor with an even worse gravy. It was more like an over cooked large brazing steak. It tasted like a vey poor stew. My son's tomatoes pasta was, and I can't put... More

Nice old pub in a pretty village with a good food menu. Some interesting options such as pigeon breast. Vegetarian food although limited is particularly good. Bar area old worldy with some nice beers. Restaurant area nicely done extension in matching style on the back Nice garden in the summer. Meal for two with bottle of wine circa £70

Half way between home and parents for me....a minor diversion from the A505 or A11 or M11 for many I'm sure. Sunday lunch...good service , good food, reasonable prices. This was our third visit I think.... Consistent pleasant service
