My best friends an I came over to the pub last Sunday to meet up for a gas and some lunch, and as usual the food was excellent, and the staff made us feel incredibly welcome. Many thanks to the kitchen staff, and the bar/restaurant staff for making our lunch perfect. Never a bad thing to say about this place!... More

We've been to The Malt Shovel a few times and never been disappointed, we called for lunch last Thursday, its was quite busy but no problems. we sat beside the log fire and just enjoyed a simple, tasty lunch. The staff were very friendly and efficient, we always call when we are visiting Harrogate which is quite close by.

First time visiting so I didn't know what to expect but I was very impressed. In a lovely village setting, inside is just as nice. It has a lovely traditional feel inside. The service was fantastic- high above what you would expect! We were presented with an amuse bouche before our starters came which was very tasty. I had the... More

What a lovely evening with incredibly tender meat, beautiful presented and very flavorful. Our service was great. The wine list diverse but manageable. And the crackling fires created a wonderful cozy setting. We will be back!!!! This is a gastro pub - prices between £15 and £20 for mains. And I personally feel that the price point is perfect.

We visited over Christmas and have been meaning to write a review since. The food was out of this world, I myself order tempura prawns as a starter and my partner order the crayfish and avocado salad, both we end up sharing as they were so delicious. I was looking for a nice wine to go with the starters and... More

Used to be one of my families favourite restaurants. Food has gone down hill since being taken over. On last visit we called weeks ahead as had family over and requested a table by the fire. On arrival they had given our table away by accident and had set up the conservatory surrounded by electric heaters. We complained and had... More

We decided to go on one of the walks that the pub recommends so booked a mid afternoon table for Sunday lunch. There had been a fair amount of rain in recent days, so the ground was heavy and our walk took much longer than we had thought and had to be cut short, but is well recommended if dining... More
