I just don't get the negatives here on TA, although I note most are old reviews from pre 2024. We've had lunch here twice this week, and absolutely nothing could be improved, given that this is a beach shack not a Michelin* restaurant. The venue is to die for, right on the most beautiful beach. The menu isn't huge, but there's something for most tastes. The lobster roll and lobster wrap are delicious and generous, and only 40EC (£12 / $14). The people here are all really lovely. We talked to four, and what delightful, welcoming, humorous, lovely people. Most of the poor reviews mention slow service, so maybe we have been lucky by arriving early. Certainly it was getting busier when we left around 1pm, but no sign of stress or hassle at all. For us this is defo the best lunch spot on the island, no question.

Laidback, fantastic lobster lunch !

Laidback beach shack , serving the freshest fish & lobster. When we were there today, a fisherman bought in his catch from the morning of snapper & parrot fish . The servers are friendly and Avery must be the world’s biggest Arsenal fan ! Everyone is served in order , so if you get there after one o clock and the place is full you will have to wait a bit . Just chill & have another rum punch . We will be back , shout out to Tipi and the servers !

Top service with good affordable food

Finally food for reasonable prices in Antigua 🙏😄. So far, we have only eaten unreasonably expensive and are therefore a little shocked when we have to pay. About $26 for a steak burger, a red snapper burger, fries, a Pinacolada, a Coca-Cola and a mineral water. All food was good. Very nice music, staff and the atmosphere is good. The location is perfect. The owner comes forward and mentions that he knows the owner Pierre of Växjö restaurant Signatur when I say that we are from Sweden. Can highly recommend it.

AWFUL!! Pick anywhere else!

This place is a joke. First day we tried to eat there around 2pm and were told the kitchen was closed and they had too many orders. Second try was 11am and we were told too many call ahead orders it would be 2pm before we could order. The female that works there is extremely rude. The beach is beautiful but don’t plan on getting lunch there.

Beach Bum Cafe - avoid - they don’t tell you you’re wait is going to be very long

Half moon Bay is beautiful. Beach Bum Cafe is a joke. We walked in and was told there was a little wait, maybe 20 minutes as orders had backed up 1 hour 45 minutes later having watched a large number of people walk in and get food (pre ordered) we paid for drinks and left. If they can’t cope they shouldn’t let people just sit there. Either do pre orders or walk in not both - you’re just annoying people, we heard others complaining.

I’m not one to leave a negative review but what we thought was an idyllic lunch spot turned out disappointing…. The salad we ordered took an hour and was missing half of the component parts ( had to check to menu to make sure I wasn’t imagining things! ) The waitress didn’t address my complaint as she was so busy with other customers and we were by then too hungry to send the plate back so ate what we had. A side of French fries then arrived after we’d finished our salads. What we did have was tasty and the location incredible but we still decided to complain about the service only to be met by a very rude owner who would not accept my suggestion of some money off my bill as compensation for my complaints and threatened to call the authorities on me! I was very polite and have never been met with this level of rudeness. Such a shame.

Good Food, Long wait.

The location on Half Moon Bay is beautiful and I would give my fish dish 4 stars; the side dish was not as described but was decent. However, be prepared to wait a very long time for food or drink. Even by island standards, the wait time can be ridiculous. My advice is to order 2 hours before you want to eat, tell them the time you want to eat and then go to the beach until that time.

Lobster wrap!

Totally chill way to start the afternoon at Half Moon Bay. This little spot was perfect for lunch. Get the lobster wrap….so good…along with the sweet potato fries and rum punch. It did take a while for our food to come out (maybe 30 minutes) and it did take a while to flag down the waitress to pay. If the latter is an issue, just ask for the bill when your food arrives. Such an awesome spot on one of the island’s most beautiful beaches!

Nice Beach Bar at Half Moon Bay

Terrific beach bar located at Half Moon Bay Beach. They cooked up a fine burger and had plenty of cold local beer to enjoy at a reasonable price. A bit of a walk from the nicer part of the beach but well worth it to get refreshments.

Huge disappointment

Our table was booked so they were expecting us. Over two hour wait for our food which still hadn’t arrived so we left paying for our drinks. Such a disappointment as a favourite for us. We were fobbed off and when we eventually left the chef came out and was downright rude. Not ideal with small children! Another reserved table of six next to us also left paying only for their drinks.

Dropped in on the off chance they would have a table, I was told there may be a delay bringing out the food, because they were so busy. Not a problem, bucket of freezing cold Wadalli beer, and a bottle opener, were on the table in minutes. When the food arrived, Spicy wings to start, my favourite, Wendy had the bbq wings, equally delicious, 2 lobster main courses, again very fresh and delicious. Popped into the shop for a few tee shirts, for my boys, then off into the sea for a swim. The owners let us keep the table, until we returned, nice bottle of Minuty, to finish off our lunch, then the owner, took us back to our hotel in his taxi. All in all another pleasant experience, will definitely be returning. Shame the owner was an Arsenal fan.

The best food on the island is right here! Tippi should have a Michelin star and Im not joking - every single time we come it's always amazing! If you are in a hurry and not into the holiday vibe, then perhaps this is not the place for you - if you are relaxed and chilled - maybe pre-order with Avery whatever you want, go have a swim and chill on the beach and return for a rum punch and your delicious fresh food will await you. We are going back today and will return once more before we have to go home. The new windows are a real uplift for rain - well done guys, you are evolving all the time.

In Antigua, like the rest of the Caribbean, one has to accept that the pace of service will be ‘relaxed’ However, visiting this location for lunch, took that relaxed approach to a whole new level. A simple order of wrap and beers for four ended up being a marathon wait of over one and a half hours! Whilst the food was good when it eventually arrived, it certainly didn’t warrant the wait

Their service and attitude to customers is appalling. On two visits it took more than an hour each time to receive mediocre food while other favoured tables were served quickly. No apologies or even explanations for delay, offhand and rude replies to any questions by the owner, and he simply walked away from the credit card machine as I tried to pay. It seems unless you have been pre-booked, probably by the fancy club next door, he is not interested. Please don’t encourage this arrogant owner - there are so many lovely places in Antigua. He is a disgrace to the island.

We'd had so many recommendations before travelling from TA and elsewhere and it was probably the nearest reasonably priced eatery near our villa in Brown's Bay. Booking would be advised, by phone or Messenger, when busy but we didn't and went twice. They take cards and every dish (wrap, sandwich etc) has a veggie option. Food cooked to order and melts in your mouth. Whilst waiting you can have a dip in the waters of Half Moon Bay.
