We hadn’t been here before in all the years we’ve been coming to Antigua, but having tried it, we’ll be back. The service was friendly and efficient. The food delicious and well presented. The owner came over and introduced himself - love this! They had a 3 course set price menu on that evening but I would have preferred an à la carte (I don’t eat desserts). I don’t think this was the norm though.

Thank you for dining with us and we’re happy to hear that you’ll be back. We usually serve an à la carte menu, but you happened to dine with us when we were offering a set price menu for the Thanksgiving holiday. Glad you enjoyed it nonetheless and we look forward to seeing you again next time.

I do think this place is worth 5 stars, alythough I do have, hopefully, positive crticism. The restaurant has been essentially built from scratch, so full marks for the care and thought that has gone into it. The front garden is very pretty, and so of course everyone prefers it - but actually, inside has a French Atlantic vibe, which is also good - fresh, white, pretty pictures on the walls, like a Biarritz restaurant. But my issue is that the restaurant currently sits somewhere between an upmarket brasserie and a fine dining experience. For instance the service is more brasserie - I may be wrong, but every time we asked a menu question I got the distinct impression that the waitresses had never eaten anything cooked there. They couldn't answer, except for "yes that's a good choice" etc. And secondly the portions, despite being vey tasty are small. So you need the full 3 courses, like a fine dining experience to be full. And that ends up being quite expensive. So I would say that this is the best restuarant for the cooking in English Harbour, but it's more a couples or friends venue, as for a family with kids it will end up being £100/US$120 per person with drinks and service, which is a lot for your fussy teenagers!

The first thing you notice about Colibri is the ambiance. The outdoor dining area conjures up the feeling of eating in a tropical garden while the interior space is clean, sharp and feels a bit like an art gallery. The menu is a bit more limited than many restaurants but you surely can find something to tempt your tastebuds here. My wife enjoyed their version of pumpkin stuffed ravioli and I had the filet of beef, cooked perfectly and full of delicious flavors. The wait staff is very efficient here and professional although seemingly a touch light on congeniality. My only slightly negative comment is that our experience seemed a little rushed. I would have enjoyed a little more leisurely pace but all in all we enjoyed a wonderful meal here that was topped off with creme' brulee for dessert. On the evening we were here there was live music in the outdoor area of the restaurant which added to the charm of the place.....just a one man band with a guitar....it was nice!

The food and service are fine. They have a nice garden, where the good atmosphere is ruined by loud music. Their prices are on the higher end for English Harbor and – unlike the others – they have not included service charge but add 12%. They give prices in EC$, but when you have to pay, it is only possible to pay in US$ and here they add an additional 5%. I feel cheated, which ruins an otherwise good evening. Who likes to be cheated.

Colibri Restaurant
Dear Erik, thank you for your feedback. I’m glad you enjoyed our food, drinks and atmosphere. I’m sorry you felt cheated but I have to correct you on both points you’ve mentioned. Firstly, no restaurant in Antigua includes service charge in the price indicated on the menu. The service charge is at the discretion of each restaurant, it is usually 10-15% and is added to the bill. Secondly, we do not add an extra 5% on the credit card transaction, which is against the law. The credit card terminal provided by our local bank charges in US$ and we use the customary exchange rate of 2.6 for EC$ to US$. I apologize for any inconvenience, but we don’t have the option to process credit cards in EC$. Your comments are not unique to our restaurant, but common practice at restaurants and other businesses across Antigua. Even so, we appreciate your concerns and will add a note to our bill printouts to avoid similar misconceptions. Please keep in mind that you can help local businesses by paying in cash, as there is a 4% bank fee on every credit card transaction.

We had a delicious dinner here. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated and the owner is very friendly and welcoming (he will sit down at your table with you to chat). We arrived 7min late as a few roads were blocked off for a motorcade. When we walked up to the hostess and gave her our name she responded with "you're late." Not a great way to welcome guests, especially since we were not that late. I explained the roads were closed and then she led us to our table. The food was delicious, even the bread they bring to the table is superb. We tried the vegetable tart (tasted a bit like a vegetarian chili in a pastry tart), the ravioli and charcuterie plate for appetizers. For my entree I ordered the lamb which was cooked perfectly and reminded me of Brazilian feijoada. It was very flavorful and pretty filling since it was lamb and beans. For dessert we got mango sorbet and the beignets. The server forgot to put our order in, so we waited 25min for dessert to arrive and no one came to check on our table. We also waited for 15min to pay the bill. We asked for the check, got it and then no one came back. We ended up going over to the cash register to get their attention so we could pay. Overall, the food is fantastic and the ambiance is nice, but the service needs work.

Thank you for your lovely review of the food and ambiance. Regretfully, your experience with the wait staff wasn’t up to par and we do apologize. We have been short-staffed recently and are actively working on that.

A charming garden restaurant - be sure to ask for a table outside when you book otherwise you may not get one as it's very popular. The food was excellent - fantastic bread, the menu is predominantly fish and meat and all were very good, particularly the lobster risotto. They do separate platters of charcuterie and cheese which can be shared as a starter and these were delicious. Vegetarian options were a bit limited. There is a very cool vibe to the place and they played some great music, not too loudly to make conversation difficult. The French owner was delightful and present on both of our visits, checking that everyone was happy. It's a very special spot.

The food and service here are outstanding. I had the salted fish fritteres and lobster risotto; my wife had a salad and the catch of the day. Food came out in a remarkably timely way—more like mainland US than on a Caribbean Island. Place food was well prepared, well seasoned. Staff was pleasant, helpful, and chatty. Also had crème brûlée and I had a “Creole coffee (coffee+dark rum) for desert. And, the prices were reasonable. Definitely check this place out if you’re in English Harbor for dinner.

We’ve been on the Island a week and full of cough and cold so this review should be read in that context, perhaps making the contrasting experiences of Colibri and Incanto all the more interesting. Our original table was near coctail bar and having said not feeling great and prefer further away from music and other people we were sat at table 2, corner spot and fab. The service was excellent, the wine not properly chilled volunteered by our waitress. A huge ‘conventional ice bucket and ice to add to Rose easily did the job. Starters of Lobster Bisque, Courgette Ravioli truly tasty and beautifully presented. Mains of Beef and Lobster Risotto also hit the spot but both suffering and only reason plates not emptied. Didier, the owner mingled unobtrusively among happy guests and we will certainly be back, healthier and ready to hit the deserts. From location, service, presentation and taste this restaurant is a triumph. On reflection I ask if visiting Colibri before Incanto was part of the issue. It wasn’t, the Fat Lady has sung for Incanto unless perhaps one of the proprietors wants to explain why another visit a good idea?

What a delicious meal we have just enjoyed! Having eaten at a number of excellent restaurants in English Harbour we knew it was time to try Colibri and, to be honest, the food here beats all the rest! The service was attentive, the owner, Didier, was keen to ensure all his guests enjoyed themselves. As a vegetarian the menu was quite restricted, but the ratatouille walnut and parmesan crumble was amazing and the butternut squash ravioli in coconut curry sauce with fried leeks was superb too! My husband enjoyed the pork option and, though we would have loved to try the rum and raisin pavlova, we just couldn’t find the room for another course. We would both highly recommend this restaurant for its food and ambience as well as it’s stylish design. Well worth a visit!

Food was excellent, host/owner was attentive. Cost was higher for meal. Drinks were yummy. Everything was going well, until dessert. They brought the menu and then it was like our “section” went on ignore. They never came to take our dessert order, and when we decided to just finish our meal, we asked 2x for the bill then had to go up to pay. They charge a 12.5% surcharge (Most others are 10). A disappointing end to a great evening

Thank you for your feedback. While we are pleased to hear that you enjoyed the food and drinks, we hope you’ll accept our apologies for the lack of attention towards the end of your meal. This isn’t reflective of our staff in general, as we have been short-staffed recently while experiencing higher than usual guest numbers. We are doing our best to remedy this.

Superb. Colibri was the highlight of our restaurant experiences in Antigua. We were all for giving up on eating out in Antigua after a series if shockingly bad experiences and waste of money. I think they have achieved what appears to be impossible in the majority of places we visited. I would like to congratulate them on a friendly welcome, beautifully dressed and atmospheric dining areas and cocktail bar, exciting and varied menu where they actually provided what was described. Perfectly cooked and presented food which tasted fantastic. I think it is quite a miracle to have achieved all these different things in Antigua where the bar is generally very low. We were happy at the price and happy to tip for such good service.

We had a recommendation from a recent visitor and had a terrific evening. The proprietor and all the staff were very welcoming to a beautiful garden setting (and relocated us indoors when it began to rain). The food (Rillettes and Carpaccio to start followed by Snapper and Cafe Gourmand) was some of the best I have eaten. Highly recommend.

Wow, we recently had drinks and dinner at this enchanting French creole restaurant . We had great service, delicious food and the atmosphere in a tropical garden was truly magical. Our favourite restaurant in English Harbour.

From the moment we walked thru the courtyard, we knew we were in for a treat. And we were not disappointed. Drinks and service were perfect. Our appetizers, smoked mahi and the lobster fritters, were a great start. The lamb confit and the lobster risotto are fabulous! Oh, and try the Brussels sprouts. We were stuffed, but decided we must try the desserts. Of course, they were heavenly. Chocolate mousse was smooth and silky and the coconut creme brulee, which I almost didn't get because I'm not fond of coconut, was absolutely delectable!! We ate at many high end restaurants in the area and Colibri was by far THE BEST.

Beautiful restaurant with friendly staff. Decor lovely and it is very popular. You have to book early to sit outside. Prices not cheap, but for a treat not too bad. The food was generally good, but the lobster tail risotto was not to my liking and the sauce wasn't good - I would avoid this one. The butter with the bread is not proper butter but some sort of spread - easy to change!
