Every thing you want from Barbados, relaxing atmosphere sitting on the beach side, jazz band playing and the best lobster on the island. The staff are good and fun and if you get a chance to speak with the owner Art Taylor its an experience.

Literally just got back from lobster alive. Right on the beach, surrounded by the sounds of the crashing waves and the crystal blue waters of Caribbean ocean. If thats not enough, the lobster dinner was finger lickicking delicious.

The best lobster we had on the entire trip to Barbados - fresh, succulent and grilled just right - perfection on the beach.... When you go, don't miss this one - I promise you will regret it.

Came across this gem of a place by chance. The setting right on the beach took some beating. We chose the lobster salad which we downed with rum punches and cold beer. What more could you want! We will be back.

As the other reviewers have said, the place is a basic beach bar serving amazing Caribbean spiny lobster which is flown in every week. There's small pool for the lobsters and if you like, you can choose your victim. The place has quite a different...More

Had good references, and booked online. When we arrived they did not have our reservation, nor would honour the confirmation email that I had received. Was looking forward to both the food and meeting al Taylor as a fellow pilot. The reception staff were not...More

We have been here twice. It is very interesting to see and the lobster is amazing. You can see them in a very large pool and can choose your own or they will choose one for you. Most nights there is a small jazz band...More

We have been to Lobster Alive a number of times and our most recent visit continued our excellent impressions of the restaurant. We were a party of 11 and no one had cause for complaint. The youngest member of the party had a good time...More

This doesn't look much when you arrive but it is right on the beach - nice and simple and the lobster is excellent, the Jazz is superb. I'd definately visit again.

To be sure why not email them directly. They are very prompt in replying and very helpful. If you have a Sunday in Barbados then I would recommend the Sunday jazz lunch. It is a great atmosphere.

Apologies for the late response. The managers have been busy with jackhammers and sawdust for 4 months and have neglected their online duties. Things are finishing up now and we hope to announce our opening date shortly... More

Description
The restaurant initially began as a wholesale distributor for the island's hotels and restaurants. Cooked takeaway service was added; along with a friendly free beer while you wait. Shortly after that the health inspector demanded we go the whole way or "wholesale only". This was around 1998. Long time friend and fellow musician with the local VSOP Jazz band "Stu Jenkins" became the resident artist (designer) and we named the up coming restaurant "LOBSTER ALIVE and all that Jazz". We felt our way; with many of the usual restaurant mistakes. But it seems now, we have scored quite well with international critics, restaurant guide books; and our many repeat customers.
