We got this as a recommondation from a travel book and were not dissappointed. The waiter was friendly, the prices were also OK (good but strong cocktail :D ) and the location is very close to the center. The food was "nearly" perfect thats why the last star is missing (there is no 4,5 rating possible): I had chicken and... More

Castillo de Farnes used to have some of the best Cuban sandwiches in Havana Vieja so naturally I tried to order one here in December 2016. "Sorry, although they are still on the menu, they aren't available but you can still get some of our more expensive food." NOT!

A lovely restaurant, with a view of the plaza and the art stalls. Lovely food and a parade of live music.

If you have drinks in this bar make sure you look at the prices in the menu and take pictures as we got ripped off and ended up paying 76 CUC (GBP62) for two beers and two Mojitos. The doorman was very intimidating but smiled when he knew we had been ripped off. Be careful tourists.

We went here several times during our holiday. Both for drinks and for eating, the whole family and just my boyfriend and I. We always felt welcome, the staff did their best to make us feel good. The food was not top notch, but still delicious and good portions. The service was sometimes a bit slow, especially if the game... More

Food was ok and not very expensive. When asking for camarones they told us that they run mostly out of and therfore only could get some together with a combinated meal... so far so good we ordered to combinated dishes together with some garlic bread a bear and 2 Mojito. Because it was a nice evening and Mojito was good... More

When we arrived in Havana, we found that cute old nostalgic café and fell in love. We ordered drinks and had lunch and you guys seriously need to try the lobster here. We had mohitos and couldn't get enough. I tried a lot in Cuba but this one was absolutely the best! Great place to be and the prices are... More

We found this restaurant by chance as its front area is basically a bar. Great Spanish type food, with superior attention from Pepe and Sixto!....Convenient prices for top food and excellent service, what else?

Named after a famous castillo in Spain, this is a nice little place that you may just walk past if you are not looking for it. There is a photo on the wall of Castro, Che, and their buddies having dinner there in the late '50s. You can choose the front of the house, which is open to the street,... More

Description
The Castillo de Farnes is a non sophisticated bar and cafe placed in the corner of Monserrate Street, very near to the National Museum of Fine Arts and Manzana de Gomez five stars hotel. Its a place for people who decide to escape from business meals, fixed schedules, twitter and facebook mania, in order to just sit in a calm place, and watch the world of the city. Flags from several countries and cloth logos of soccer teams will welcome you to relax for a while, take a cortadito and order the best paella in town. The bartenders are very friendly, as they were in the times when Ernst Hemingway visited the place to talk about basque playball. Explore the tapas, small portions of spanish products, see the big screen to delight the world soccer games or just talk with the locals enjoying cheap and good cuban beers.
