We went in 2 for dinner. Food was fine, I would say average in Havana. The service could be a more polite, meaning that a smile once in a while doesn’t hurt anyone. But the 2 stars are given for the price, 2 main courses,...one bottle of wine, 1 dessert and 2 coffees was 65 euros. You can definitely find better in the Havana.More

A very good restaurant in Vedado! The service was very good and very helpful with everything. The food was excellent, we tried la ropa Vieja and the fish. I totally recommend it!

This became our go-to restaurant in Vedado - always dependable, great service, would rate it at 4 1/2 stars if this was possible. Fish & seafood always a good choice, ask the waiter for recommendations. Popular place, you often have to wait for a table...at peak times but it's pleasant to sit in the garden.More

It was around the corner, so we didn’t expect much. Wow- after a big lunch, we ordered a mixed seafood plate for the two of us, and it was superb. A monster lobster tail, 2 pieces of fish, and clams. We ordered a plate of...white rice. An onion and garlic butter sauce. I loved it, because my wife gave me half her share of lobster. My wife’s Martini was strange - a strong chocolate taste. The service was a little cold. We arrived at 7:30 and by 8:30 the restaurant was 3/4 full - maybe 30 people - clearly popular. At 24.50 CUC, a bargain.More

We came here twice in our 3 night stay - it was really good. The 2nd night it poured with rain & the place was rather flooded but the staff did their best to mop the floor up. Seafood is a speciality & it was...very good & good valueMore

Really enjoyed this place. Just a block up the street from our hotel Casavana. 5 star meal at a 3 star price. One of our favorite meals of our trip.

I was staying at the NH Capri Hotel which is just under 1KM away from El Idilio. It was a LONG journey from Vancouver, Canada to Varadero airport and then a 2 hour ride by van to get to Havana at around 5:30AM Cuba time....I am tired and hungry and my Sunwing rep and hotel concierge each had a different recommendation of where to eat, but I stuck with a recommendation found in The Lonely Planet Havana Pocket Book Edition. The of course, did some backup checking for TripAdvisor reviews. This restaurant had very good reviews so I decided to try it out. Upon arriving at around 3PM, I was greeted by a nice young lady and she pointed me to a small table. The tables are covered in a trendy purple checkered table cloth. I ordered the skewered lobster with Malanga, a root vegetable that is said to be high-finer and more nutrient dense than potatoes. The verdict: The overall meal was OK. Some bits were tender, other bits slightly chewy and I found one tiny undercooked segment. There is an odd spice they used which didn’t help with the overall taste. Also, the pineapple chunks included on the skewer were not very ripe. I’d rate the dinner a 3 out of 5. But it is Cuba after all and perhaps expectations should be tempered. The service is great, I can’t fault the service at all. 5 out of 5. I’d recommend trying it, and be your own judge. If you found this review helpful, please give me a thumbs up. Thank you.More

Very popular independent and relatively upscale restaurant in Vedado. Appealing outdoor setting with wooden tables and chairs with blue checked tablecloths. Menu is primarily steak, meat and fish cooked by the chefs in front of you in an open grill kitchen. There are some nice...appetisers too prepared and bought out from the indoor kitchen. Service is very good and prices reasonable for the quality and presentation - around 15 CUC for an entree. Cocktails and wine by the glass around 4 or 5 CUC. This is not a big restaurant and its very popular so worth reserving a table one night beforehand.More

I can’t recommend this restaurant enough. We were in Havana for a week and ate here three times. Some in our party claimed it was one of their best meals ever. Bar none. The food is of very high quality, cooked and served simply but...the kitchen never failed to execute. Prices are very reasonable and less than what you pay in the Old Town. Service is friendly and the outdoor ambiance, complete with stray cats and dogs, just adds to the overall experience. Fantastic!!More

After being in Havana for 4 days we chose El Idilio for a meal for our last night as we were staying in the same neighbourhood and wanted to eat local. We absolutely loved it. Our waiter was super attentive and friendly, and the service...was efficient and fast despite the language barrier! The seafood was the best we had in Havana. Cooked to perfection (you could even see the chef cooking it on the grill), and you could tell their produce was really fresh. The cocktails were great too. By around 9pm the restaurant started to get a lot more customers arriving and there was a little bit of a queue to wait for tables to free up. We'd recommend getting their a little bit earlier if you're feeling hungry. However, having ate their we'd stand in line knowing how good it is! Overall a lovely experience and somewhere really relaxed, yet special, to spend a nice evening eating brilliant Cuban food.More

I have never rated a restaurant a 5, but the El Idilio is awesome and the food is out of this world. My wife were staying near and had dinner here twice. We took a seat in front of the grill and it was great...watching the chefs preparing the meals. We found the service to be great as well. I had the grilled seafood platter twice, clams, fish, shrimp and a nice size lobster tail. My wife had two different meals, Ribs and sausage and the other was seafood casoulet and loved both. The last night we had two appetizers, stuff patacone, one with beef and one with shrimp. The other app was carpaccio and pulpo. These were amazing. There is no question, we would go back a few times.More

Lovely restaurant that was listed in a guide book that was close to our hotel. We had a seafood platter and a meat platter, both were loaded with food and it was delicious. Bit more pricey than other places in Havana but worth paying the...extra. Staff were friendly and helpful too.More
